    When you laser weld like that aren’t you only welding the surface of the ring and not through to the center? I imagine it would crack at the joint if enough pressure was applied to it.

    • @PatrickAdairDesigns
      @PatrickAdairDesigns  4 роки тому +15

      It’s hard to see, but if you look close you’ll notice I start with the rose gold filler wire in the center of the ring below the surface and build my way up from there. That way it’s solid all the way through.

    Hey Patrick, do you still have this ring in particular? Because I wanna ask if it hasn’t corroded, caused by “galvanic corrosion”.
    This occurs when a base metal like copper is “connected” to a noble metal like gold and silver in presence of an electrolyte like water o sweat, specially in rings.

      Getting the mold of accurate size, and having to worry about the shrinking and cracks outweighs the ease of casting a block and making few of these..now he has a material enough to make few more if these in different sizes.. Custom rings are usually of unique size too

    You're reaction is 9/10 smeagol when I say something about "ring"

    • @PatrickAdairDesigns
      @PatrickAdairDesigns  4 роки тому +2

      They don’t make jewelry from 24k gold because it’s not durable enough. So it’s usually between 10k and 18k. So the prices you’re used to seeing for “gold” jewelry should be roughly the same for rose gold.
