      Ray, YOU are the guy these videos are for. Probably the nicest compliment I've received. Thank you. I just want people to feel like they went along on the hunt. I drag my viewers through the aluminum and farm iron, but every now and then we have a great day!

    I know I'm a little late here but to give some info on the gold dollar, it is a type one "Liberty Head" and only minted from 1849 to 1854.
    The design was then changed to the type two, which was the first iteration of the "Indian princess" with a plumed headdress minted from 1854 to 1856.
    Thereafter the third and final was the type three minted from 1856 to 1889, the design only slightly changing from the type two but retaining the "Indian princess" bust albeit with a slight design change.
    Therefore, the "liberty head" design on the gold dollar shown near the end of the video had to have been minted from 1849 to 1854, and if she thinks it's an 1862 due to the final digit of the date being a two, then it would have to be an 1852 and a decade earlier than thought.
    Nice coin, always good to see old gold coins from way back!

      She normally finds the most in our little group of friends, Jim. And out of her sheer volume, the odds are in her favor that she'll find more of the really nice stuff. She is undoubtedly a really good hunter.

    racking my brain what that brass/iron combo could be about. the only things i can think of that regularly used both metals is a musket, or some kind of trunk or lock box.
    that gold was spectacular!

      Thurin, yes. The gold is outstanding. The brass band had a round attachment of some kind, round and the size of an Eagle button. I could make out a clear "S" but nothing else. Like the brass band was applied to something and then sealed? Confirmed? applied? It was under all that rust.

      I have never gotten my coil over something like that Dewey! I'm envious! As you could tell by the buttons, this ground is a little hard on brass, but it cleans off with some effort. My experience has been that pine woods are awesome for lead and not bad on iron, but hard on brass.

      @thebattlefieldwalker2841 I agree with the pine trees definitely take a toll on brass buttons.. specially the 2 piece buttons

      You said it Dennis. Never found any solid gold in my life. Unless you count a tooth with a gold filling (no lie) found on the Cold Harbor battlefield.

      I have found some gold rings. Still looking for that $20 or $50 gold piece. I had a molar with a gold filling, I pulled it out with some baby vice grips and cashed in in back in the 80's, I have 13 of my teeth in a bag that I have pulled myself. teeth went from opening beer bottles and eating nails, lol Just eating crayons now. I'm not sure Country. It turned out to be two piece, plain front. My guess was gauntlet button. Longer leather gloves with a sort of cuff attached? Some went nearly to the elbow, and many had buttons on the cuff.

    Hey Walker! Thanks for putting my ugly mug in your video LOL! On a more serious note...I just got a Deus 2 and I'm looking for a good Civil War relic program to run. I know some of the settings are site specific, based on soil characteristics, etc. But what program/settings are you running on your Deus?

    • @thebattlefieldwalker2841
      @thebattlefieldwalker2841  9 місяців тому +1

      So . . . I'm a dinosaur. I'm not fancy. Because I normally only hunt battlefields and campsites, all of which have been pounded for years, I want to hear EVERYTHING and I want to hear DEEP. So I use the largest Deus coil, and run "Deep" program. I've tried the others, but I can hear stuff that my friends can't hear on their specialty programs. I once dug a brass CS fuse adaptor 2 feet deep in a trench. I dug a U.S. Buckle at 2 1/2 feet or deeper in a bank of clay and Marl. I have used the deep so long, that I can "somewhat" hear slight differences in tone, but make no mistake . . . I dig junk targets a lot because that coil, and that program will lie to you! On the occasion that I dig a trashy homesite, (Which I don't particularly enjoy) I switch to a smaller coil and hunt "Hot Sifter", Sonar or "Hot Graph". You have my email. Send me your phone number and I'll ask Mudduck to call you. He has the Deus II and he runs all the weird programs. He can help you more than I can. By the way, Genna usually cleans our clock with her Deus II and SMALL head! She runs exclusively sonar.
