Pragggnanandhaa SHOCKS Chess World w/ NEW OPENING! (Ft. Magnus Carlsen & Ding Liren!) | New Opening!

- Опубліковано 21 лис 2024
- Praggnanandhaa invented a new chess opening vs the Rossolimo variation of the Sicilian Defense, and today we're looking at Praggnanandhaa's crazy new opening idea! Praggnanandhaa's new opening was so incredible, that even Magnus Carlsen decided to try Pragg's new opening vs current world champion Ding Liren!
Praggnanandhaa's new chess opening involves playing 3...h5 against the Rossolimo variation of the Sicilian Defense, one of White's most popular openings after 1.e4. From there Praggnanandhaa and Magnus Carlsen use the advanced h-pawn as Black to launch kingside attacks in this crazy new opening idea!
Is Praggnanandhaa's new chess opening any good? And were Praggnanandhaa and Magnus Carlsen able to use the new opening to defeat their strong opponents including the current world champion Ding Liren? Make sure to watch till the end of the video to find out!

What do you think of Praggnanandhaa's incredible new opening idea of 3...h5 in the Rossolimo Sicilian? Let me know your thoughts below!
Lame title
What's incredible about it? Wastes a move and weakens g5. Protects nothing. Prevents nothing. It doesn't strike me as anything more than a troll move. Not sure of their time controls but maybe something to throw their opponent off and gain some clock time. That's all I can see it accomplishing. And yeah, sure, there may be a tactical idea that uses it later down the road but this is way too premature.
And, sure, Magnus plays stuff like this all the time. He's a chess genius but that doesn't make this a genius move. It's for when Magnus is bored and wants to play a trash move on purpose just to mix things up. Troll move, as I said.
@@matthewcheung5136Fr it should GM!!!! LEVY!!!!!
Oh wait wrong channel, mb guys
I think it's a weak move and the only reason anyone has any respect for it right now is because pragg and carlsen have played it. It's not the best move in the position but I guess it did get his opponent out of normal theory for that game. So ok for a surprise opening but not good for regular use.
I kept forgetting this was a new opening. Thanks for reminding me every 20 seconds.
guys im not 100% sure but i think its a new opening
He's doing it to annoy people and generate activity on his video. It's a way to tickle the YT algorithm.
@@NicolasConnault Exactly!
So basically it's a great opening, for your opponent. 😂
Thats what I came here to say😂😂
lol I also don't understand the hype.
Hahahaha well there's the shock value! And don't underestimate the value of the Alpha Zero h-pawn 😉
im very tired of hearing the phrase "new opening." Im most positive i know the reason for this but its a bit much
I’m glad someone else was annoyed by this. WOW
More of a new variation
Little over 3 minutes in and I already can't stand it anymore...
Yeah... I'm jumping off for this same reason
he said new opening 463 gazillion times Roger that.
You highly recommend trying it out 😂 It only led to two major upset loses ...
Are you questioning the judgement of Praggnanandhaa and Magnus Carlsen? Maybe you know more than them 😉
@@drmikechess If they keep playing it and losing with it, then yes, maybe we should question their judgement. One doesn't need to be a chess genius to observe that two great players tried it and lost with it.
I appreciate the analysis, but I think it would be even more engaging if, instead of repeating that it's a new opening, you focused more on the thought process behind the moves. It would be great to hear why certain moves were chosen over others, and what the potential outcomes of different plays could have been. That kind of insight really helps us understand the players' strategies better.
It's AI
@@MM-es1cl What do you mean by "AI"?
@@carloslmyt hes a bot. look at the fingers and the eyes. the AI computers can't do it yet. I am a member of the deep state trust me but also don't tell anyone thanks
Great advice brother, that is exactly what I do in 99% of my videos, this video was a slight exception as the new opening played by Praggnanandhaa was largely for shock value and is not a 100% serious opening. So for this video I kept the analysis a little lighter, as this opening has only been played a couple of times at the highest level. For most games, where both players are playing more main lines, I go into much more depth. I just dropped a new Praggnanandhaa vs Magnus video, 20 minutes of exactly the kind of analysis you're asking for, I think you'll like it a lot more :)
When we moved the rook pawn at this position:
"Blunder 😵💫"
When grandmasters move the same:
"New opening 😮"
😂😂😂 It's the Magnus effect, if he plays a move, then there must be a good reason behind it hahaha, same is true for Praggnanandhaa! But yes I see your point here hahaha
Waw ! In this new opening, I, in this new opening, am very impressed, in this new opening, by prag- in this new opening- nanandhaa, skills, in this new opening !
😭
😂😂😂
1st game - New Opening x 36446 times
2nd game- pragg's new opening x 56363 times
You often repeat expressions like "new opening". We only need to hear it once. I swear you said it like 8 times.
_"8"_ ?? ... *80* * !! :D
.
Sorry brother! I got that fixed for my latest new opening videos :)
If "the Pragg Variation" sticks, most people hearing it will assume it's somehow related to the Czech Republic.
Well that's an interesting point, I hadn't thought of that haha
Anything that is clickbait deserves a dislike, please avoid this.
It's not clickbait if I deliver exactly what is promised in the title, clickbait is when you promise XYZ and do not deliver XYZ. So by definition this is not clickbait brother! But thanks for the comment!
@@drmikechess You definitely not delivereded a new opening, that is a fact.
this is new opening.
6:12 why not Knight e3👀?
Knight to G3 could have been better
You win a bishop for sure
Win bishop? How?@@akki54000
I was thinking the same! Strong threat, but ofc after would lose important knight.
I watched until I heard him say "this new opening" for the 50th time....I just couldn't go on. Is this like a form of keyword spamming or something?
I made it until 3:48. How about you?
@@4saken404 I beat you by 12 seconds

Sorry brother! I think you'll like my new videos better ;)
"Pragggnanandhaa SHOCKS Chess World w/ NEW OPENING... that not even magnus could get to work!"
also, i agree with the comments, more of a variation.
also also, i enjoyed the video. you kept me entertained with the commentary, was quite good imo
At 6:03 how the hell does Pragg miss K to E3 for a triple fork ?
The fork is simply to weak of a move
Wt fork pawn will take knight
After knoght fork white plays queen b1 threatening backrank checkmate
@khytron06 you could play g6 after Qb1 still getting a rook. Am probably missing a tactic though
@@Ruhanifarishte-if1poWhat pawn? f4? Moving backwards?? 😅
6:13 Damn bro missed that Knight triple fork on e3 🤦♂️
Can someone please explain why black did not take on h2 with the pawn ?
Because if rook takes back then there’s queen h2 checkmate 🤷♂️
After knight takes e3, white Qxd4 and then what you do?
@sjoukerinsma7185 you take the rook. Up exchange
@@JorisGeelen666 That's fine, then follow with Qd8, checkmate.
..Ne3.. QXd4!
..threats Qd8#…?
There are only twenty possible opening moves…eight pawn moves which can be either one or two square movements, and four knight moves, which depend on whether the knights are moved to the center of the board or the sides of the board. After that, everything varies.
👍
At 7:34, if White plays Qh4+, no matter what Pragg does, he will lose his queen. The sequence of moves would be as follows: Qh4+ - Qh6, and then Rxh8+. Regardless of whether Black's king captures the rook on h8 or not, Black will always end up losing the queen.
Regards.
6:07 there is a folk 😮😢😅
Triple kills 😢
Nice commentary but I'm still not sure about something: was this Pragggnanandhaa new opening idea?
How many times he said "In his New Opening" 😂😂
i wish i could hold a dollar every time i heard new opening :D
At least 1 time too many 😂
It's not a new opening. Perhaps a new variation in a known opening.
Is the Rossolimo a seperate opening? Or is it just part of the Sicilian Defense? Is the Ruy Lopez a seperate opening? Or is it just part of the Open Games? Is the Najdorf Sicilian a seperate opening? Or is it just part of the Open Sicilian?
These questions are somewhat subjective, the answer is if an opening novelty is played very early in the game, with a completely new or novel idea behind the move, it's typically called a new opening. I think it's appropriate here as it's literally move 3, and the concept is completely new, but we can agree to disagree here :)
Was this a new opening?
😂
I wonder if this is the new opening Idea by prag
😂😂😂
new opening idea
I played this move in 2004, it needs a backup move ... push the pawn further under the cover of bishop and queen...
Pragg castling on king side is the first blunder
After hundred years of chess, someone with courage move differently than others, new opening lol
If you think chess is only 100 years old bro open up google and do a quick search
Challange: take a shot everytime he says "In this new opening"
It is not really a new opening but a new novelty variation to be exact.
Viewer discretion don’t take a shot of light beer every time he says “in this new opening.”
Hey guys, I can't believe nobody else noticed this is an entirely NEW OPENING? Are you all asleep, dammit? When you see a NEW OPENING you need to make it clear by saying something along the lines of "NEW OPENING ALERT!"
And for our overseaes friends, can I point out that this is a FENETRE NEUVE or ABERTURA NUEVA.
😂😂😂
If the phrase "in this new opening" were to be edited out the video would be much less "wordy". Also , it would help if you tried speaking a little slower
Ok brother thanks for the advice! I think you'll like my new videos better, I'm still improving, I'm somewhat new to the youtube space but I'm probably the fastest growing smaller chess youtuber right now so I think people are enjoying the new videos!
Yeah bro, we heard it's a new opening the first 200 times you said it
Bro that he'll recieve flowers from Indian audience but they themselves are hating on him😂😂
who else saw it ? 11:33 I saw it , rock takes e5 .
this new opening called frog variation seems lethal , Gotham come here and analyze this.
11:20 when he said "find this INSANE move" me, despite being a 200 ELO idiot, knew immediately it was gonna be a sacrifice of some sort
I always played new opening that you hardly believe
Knight fork ? 6:09
a: THEN...
b: IN THIS NEW OPENING
a: AHAAA...
b: IN THIS NEW OPENING
I've tried it twice and lost twice. It's beyond me to see how its winning.
6:14 knight e3 is a fork with the pawn's protection
👍
This was the opening what I used to play for last one week
I think I have seen Magnus ploy this as the opening move more than 1 time before!
Prog? I'm pretty sure his name is Prag.
Any opening is tough for us!! Two days ago, we got to see Magnus new opening.. so masters are always thinking new moves..
Why is he saying "new opening" even at the end of the game?
At 7:33
Why not White Qh4+
Prag has to block with his Queen Qh6 or Bh5.
If Bh5 White can play Qh5 and then Prag has to block with his Queen Qh6.
Then White Rh8+
Prag has to either do Kg7 or Kh8
Then White can take the Prag's queen
Did you mean the move Qh4 + for the whites? If so, I agree. However, the black move you said Bh5 is unnecessary.
Regards.
@@CrisFerrerYT Yes instead of sacrificing the queen, this would have been more advantageous.
I don’t think he did anything wrong dude is just trying to grow his channel. Respect your hustle dude 🫡
Is it me or was the pawn useless in both games.
If there is an unplayed line within 3rd/4th move then definitely it's a new variation, considering Magnus using it in a big game. But only if several other high-rated players use it with success, it'll be established as such.
what a crazy new opening
At 6:10 instead of pawn to g5, pragg should have played knight to g3 taking a pawn. If opponent takes knight he is checkmate. Even if he doesn't knight forks bishop and rook.
The moral of the video the new opening is a "crazy" idea which makes even Magnus to loose 😂
He screwed up when he didn't move his knight and let the bishop take it .. he had a cruching move with his knight .
A wild opening idea that will cost you 100% of your games. Click like if you found this video worthwhile 😂😂😂
#6:11 knight to e3 seems fun
At last queen to d8 is checkmate right? 14:49 just wanted to know as am new to this???
It is not bcoz the king would have taken the Knight on e6 thus escaping
where is new openning counter?
with the piece position at 6:05 here in the video, does Prag not miss a YUGE fork with his knight on e3? I feel like he's winning the game from here but instead of knight e3 forking every major white piece except the king, he then plays uh what now? pawn g5? in my personal calculation that's like a 10 point blunder but who knows what stockfish says, maybe I'm missing something
Qxd4 and white threatens an backrank mate and wins a pawn and also the knight hangs
why did you call it the frog variation again?
frog protection
White needs to punish blacks weakening of the dark squares on the kingside after h5.
Well he did eventually just eat that pawn. And regardless it did nothing the entire game.
Any ideas about why this 'exciting new opening' hasn't been played before ?
Kiril analysing in cubicle #1.
How many times did he say "in this new opening?"
6:09 Can someone explain why did he moved the pawn ahead when he clearly had a perfect fork with that knight ???
We Get it - its a. NEW opening
Prague-Nah-Nanda
The missing Nah drove me crazy
I play new openings every time I play chess.
😂
6:56 he should have cut pawn and check
I'm sorry, just came now, is this Prag's new opening?
Jesus, if you say Prags new opening idea I’m gonna vomit
I m stopping in between because I m sick of hearing "new opening"
Sorry brother! Maybe I overdid it
@@drmikechess We learn from feedback !
But it was a good video 👍
Ignore the haters! I want to hear you say "new opening" even more often!
Also, he was winning after g3.
I don't think opening him is a good idea. The Murkekos Stars game would need imaginative openings. In chess, finding new opening theories is difficult.
If only this was a new opening!
This is not new
73 times - New opening
I was enjoying the video until you said "in this new opening" 400 times. Jeezus
not sure why black didn't fork the queen and rooks with his knight at 6:10?
Beautiful game thanks
Thank you so much! 🙏
in 12:06 if magnus were made castling king side, could had defended better
6:05 black can move knight to e3
So, if I understood correctly, this is a new opening? 😀
The opening to play when you wanna lower your ELO.
"I highly recommend trying it out in your own games". Both Pragg and Magnus lost using that opening. Perhaps don't use it.
I did this 12 shots of vodka deep the other night am I a grandmaster?
G5 with the pawn was the stupidest move ever! He had a clean knight move to attack both bishops plus the queen, a triple threat and the game was over there! 6:15
I create daily ' new opening '
No offense, prag is a nice guy, but the idea of pushing a and h pawns belongs to alpha zero...
holy shit i couldn't watch more than 4 minutes of this, STOP repeating that ITS A NEW OPENING WE GET IT
is this his new opening?
Sorry but that move does nothing in the context of the actual play. You may argue that it does have some effect 10-15 moves later but thats just not enough. By the way, its admirable how much Pragg works on his opening repertoire. We saw proof of that in the candidates tournament. So ya good work Pragg, but this cant be called a new opening.
7:32 Qh4 + wins for white
Top 2 players failed with this crazy idea... so good luck anyone trying to use that opening !
why instead rook c2, just g4 winning the knight? im a noob player so please be gentle =)
I’m sorry I’m responding to as many comments as I can, but I can’t get to questions like this right now. Can someone else help this chess fan out with his question? Thank you in advance! 🙏
I always play such opening, only difference they are GM, I am just GM for Few
You misspelled his name . So disrespectful 🙄...
.
.
Just joking 🤣🤣
Why joking? It was/is indeed disrespectful…!
Clearly, not the greatest chess player of all time
Not a good opening move... seeing that both Pragg & Magnus lost their games while using this opening... 😅😂
