Back in the late 90’s at Liverpool, many managers in the PL were so focused on stopping McManaman and him only, as he was the driving force behind that great team. Supremely underrated by those that didn’t watch him.
There's footage of Ferguson giving his Man Utd team talk that focuses purely on concentrating on stopping McManaman.
Various Utd players from the 90s era have since said that no one inspired more fear in Alex Ferguson than McManaman. Apparently, they would be wary of other top players like Shearer, Wright, Ginola, etc...but McManaman was the one Ferguson would devote entire team talks to.
Such an underrated player. Macca would run past players for fun. I think the fact that he looked so casual and not built like a typical footballer meant he has been often overlooked as one of the all time greats.
I always loved him. He was immense at Madrid. He had the balls to play and succeed outside of England.
Wow, the goal at 3:07 is pure insanity.
What a player. Would be a nightmare to defend. Liverpool and Real Madrid legend.
YNWA Macca
it was against my team Celtic in the UEFA Cup. Even more important for Liverpool cos it was scored near the end of the match to make it 2-2 at Celtic park.
He is one of the best dribblers I've ever seen.
I remember when I was a child in school, he was one of my favorites.
It was such a joy to watch him play.
Never missed a Real Madrid game, then I would go out to play, trying to imitate his runs 😂😂😂.
We was like ( at school ) hey hey do you know Mcmananananaman LOLLLLLL
Smart, Speed, Intelligent, very good skills, IQ high, efficient and spectacular.
Very good player this Steve Mcmanaman. Respect for him✅👍
England can to be pround of him✅👍
Thank's for the video✅👍
I'm a Real Madrid fan and have great memories of him. Outstanding and a fantastic player .
Great player and a rare English success at a top foreign club, his dribbling style (quite similar to Robert Pires) and overall look were somehow very 'continental'.
The quality of players was so much higher then than now.
He played huge role in euro 96 team hugely underrated in my opinion, what winger in youngs day powerful fast, technically awesome, classy
We don't forget him in Spain. A pleasure to watch and a true gentleman,
My favourite Liverpool player as a kid , a maverick
Close to the best player in the prem around 1995-97
Great player, aslo great song !
Ian Callaghan, Matt Le Tissier, Steve Bruce, Steve McManaman, Andy Cole, Rob Jones, Robbie Fowler.

Steve Mcnamanan and Ryan Giggs. Miss those days..
Brilliant player would be even better today as you can't tackle . Greatness
Wahouuuuuu best football video of my life mcmanaman + oasis perfect match
En Madrid se te aprecia Mcmanaman!
Another world class footballer England didn’t utilise enough. Terry venables was the only manager who got the best out of him
Legend🔥🔥⚽️⚽️
An absolute brilliant player very underrated I think deceptively quick an skillful his passing n vision was good aswell yes 👏
The streets will never forget Steve McManaman
Most sucessfull England player in Real Madrid
Nahhh it is michael owen
@@sa.1979 Michael Owen didn't do a damn thing at Real Madrid except get injured. Steve won 2 Champions League with Real Madrid
@@sa.1979 Beckham was better with Real, but not as good as Macca
@@Honeybarbecuepumpum at least he knew how to score
@@sa.1979 steve scored in a ucl final, to WIN it! that's enough.
He was a Legend ,skillful,so fast, tireless dribbler unfortunately at late 90s early 2000s his speed and game decreased.
A True Euro 96 and especially Liverpool Legend.
2:26 🤯🤯🤯
Gran giocatore.
I miss players who ran and dribbled past defenders.
I am not a fan of england players but it was impossible not to like this one.
Growin'up he was LE brit' player to me: incredible pace..composure and vivid talent!!❤
Madrid loves Maca
Best player in The 90s Liverpool
what a player he was
Cam lw rw lm rm ❤
Legend!
5:13 absolute beauty
The best!
As a Newcastle fan -- I still have nightmares about this guy. But what a player. Modern footballers are perhaps fitter and more athletic, but the players of this era would annihilate a good modern side. The best Barça sides would let the ball do the work -- but why let the ball do the work, when players like Mcmanaman could just go past players and draw defenders towards him, unlocking teams. Ironically - it was probably Michael Owen's acceleration and pace that forever changed the English recruitment system of players. These things will come full circle again, I am sure. Little wonder English sides look abroad so often for skilled players now. Some of the best players that have existed probably never played at the highest level in English football because they didn't score high enough on a bleep test, or showed too much "character" in the dressing room.
me encantaba stevyyyy !!!
One the best liverpool players of the 90s, you can see why real madrid bought him.
Bossman rule
fast and creative 🥇
MCMANAMANNNN
English coaches were married to the flat 4 4 2 formation thus choosing to use him as a winger and not an attacking midfielder. This affected his international career greatly
They could play him with other target man or second striker
He's a winger
@@bryanleeyf87 He could play on the wing but he was best at attacking midfield
That's not entirely true. Venables was playing 4411/4321/3142 attacking but defended in a 442. Hoddle played 3412 and Scholes was used in Macca's role that he was doing under Roy Evans. Keegan was making up stuff as he went along but he did play 352 sometimes. Sven was the only true 442 man.
Young Macca who was MotM in the 92 FA Cup final and the 95 League Cup finals was more of a winger up til 96. Then, under Evans and up until Real signed Zidane signed Macca was more of a central player who occasional played on the wing.
@@KuntyMcPhuck I can't disagree. I always saw him having a greater influence playing AM.
I came from FIFA 24
👏👏👏👏
McManaman seems to have had a wide, evasive dribbling style on the one hand, but also aimed for short passes on the other. If he had played longer on the continent, he would have been able to harmonize his game more.
What about his fighting skills with Grobbelaar
Smart player
He was like the second coming of Kenny Dalglish seemed a yard quicker than most players and had an eye for goal
One of my favourite players I’m a spurs fan
A video on Robben ?
So distractin thhat this is the intro music for SNATCH... what is the song called?
I love him at Real Madrid! Hala Madrid. 😀
Pedri reminds me of him for some reason
So...Paul Scholes next?
Missing link of three lions
He’s my grandad
Anyone know what tune this is?
I don't know the first song , but the second song is an instrumental of Placebo's Bitter End
Fuckin in the bushes oasis
Now you’ve done a scouser you have to balance it out with a manc and do scholes
Still the only anomaly of English footballers 😂
No one is really play like Macca. Absolutely no one
Fine player, trouble was though at international level he never delivered and that is a great shame.
He was never used properly. If past England managers weren’t so stuck up on the 4-4-2, he would’ve flourished.
@@relentero8547 Nah, it was an attitude problem. He was part of a group of Liverpool players called the 'Spice boys' who seemed more interested in partying than winning things. He wasn't the only one though, Fowler never reproduced his club form for his country either.
@@kebabtank But he flourished at Liverpool and RM, where he ended up winning trophies. Those teams had fluid systems that allowed McManaman to attack more, at least compared to the 4-4-2 systems
Bollocks he was named in the Euro96 team of the tournament
88 DRIBBLING LOL. TRY 95 MIN
Better than Gerard
Waiting for some idiot who have never watched him play calling him underrated.
@Barbosafutbolvideos, grazie
