this video is a great help. my megaman v cart was damaged somehow and has large chip damage in the front of the cart. but the label itself is still in good condition. i thought it was impossible to transplant labels but thankfully I found this video. also before anyone questions why i damaged a really pricey gb game, i didn't. there were other gb games in the same bag with it (2 others that are also pretty expensive), but none of them got damaged. so i'm assuming the shell for my mmv cart got brittle over time.
Will a hair dryer work aswell? I’ve used a hairdryer to replace the spines on steel books and remove other stickers but never a label where id be re using it. Should also mention the steel book spines are more of a glue than adhesive sticker which is where my confusion comes in
@@ScruffyLookinRGB just got my replacement shell yesterday and can confirm hair dryer works great label isn’t peeling back up or anything (re heated and pressed the label down again after placing) thanks for the reply!
I might need to do this when I custom paint my Japanese Pokémon carts (Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Gold & Silver) since their grey, blue or dark grey unlike US and European versions.
Quick question what are you drying the label with at around the 4:15 mark? Is that the alcohol wipe tissues you mentioned at the start of the vid? If so, wouldn't the wetness of these wipes damage the adhesiveness of the labels?
If my gba cartridge break (especially at screw hole), is there anyway to fix the screw hole? Need suggestion. 😥 it’s pokemon cartridge with clear color cartridge.
Is that wax paper you were putting the label on? Was trying to figure that out because if that’s just tissue paper what keeps it from sticking to that?
@@ScruffyLookinRGB do you know of another method to swap foil labels? My gba Pokémon games cartridges have started to crack and was thinking about reshelling them with Japanese copies, but would like to swap the labels.
Has the label started to peel up over time after doing this? I have a GBC game that arrived from ebay broken and I'll give this a shot :) Love your videos bro keep it up
Wow! You make it look so easy! But how come there is no need to re-apply any adhesive afterwards? The stickiness simply remains, even after having been soaked in lighter fluid?
Pizza time.👍🏻👍🏻 Always awesome videos thanks for sharing. FYI the best way to get rid of old permanent marker is Rain-X that shit right the fuck off it's amazing anywho stay scruffy-looking..🐢
I like that you included your mistake. It doesn’t look to bad though!
Thanks! Previous to this video i never had a problem with this method but I thought it might be good to show how it could fail. Have you tried it yet?
Yes, this is exactly what we need to know, the mistakes one should avoid.

Im glad to hear this video helped you out. I may need to update this video. Congratulations on your successful restoration 👍👍👍

Personally i have never tried the hair dryer method but ive seen other folks doing it and it seems like a viable solution.

Awesome idea love to see when you finish them👉👍👍👍
what a great video! I've been wanting to replace carts but have been hesitant because of the label.
Really? Thank you so much. Im glad I could be helpful. Let me know how your label transplant goes.👍

It is wax paper. And the lighter fluid evaporates on its own. Wax paper keeps it safe till you want to reapply it.

Its hard to say with out seeing it if you dm me on social media i can take a look.
What did you use on the cotton bud to clean the chip?
Isopropyl alcohol 99%
Is that wax paper you were putting the label on? Was trying to figure that out because if that’s just tissue paper what keeps it from sticking to that?
Yes Wax paper. It is your friend and very useful.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
👍
Does it work with Game Boy Advance games as well?
It should work with any stickers. I wouldnt try it with a foil label tho. Good luck. Let me know how it goes for you👍

do the labels retain stickyness once the lighter fluid dries up? also i assume this can be used for GBA games as well right?
Yes and yes. You can use this for any kind of lable or sticker and it magically retains its stickiness👍👍👍
@@ScruffyLookinRGB thanks a ton!
Wouldnt the lighter fluid smudge up the ink?
It shouldnt remove the print from the label. It is useful for removing magic marker marks tho
@@ScruffyLookinRGB Alrighty, so it'll be good to use on my Pokémon crystal label?

Thanks for the kind words. I havent noticed any lable peeling up so far after using this method. May your refurb go smoothly👍😉
@@ScruffyLookinRGB Thank you sir. I'll give it a go!
Does It work with SNES games as well ?
It works with pretty much any sticker.
Nice video, thank you!
About the protective layer, it seems like your Rockman did not have one in the first place? Making it a bit easier, I guess (?)
Yes some sticker have them and some don't so you got to be careful when making your decision.
Wow! You make it look so easy!
But how come there is no need to re-apply any adhesive afterwards? The stickiness simply remains, even after having been soaked in lighter fluid?
That is the beauty of this method my friend. Just like magic.
Did you put them in the alcohol tissues to dry?
No, I put them in wax paper to dry.
Will it smell like lighterfluid afterwards?
Not for long the smell and liquid evaporate pretty quickly. It's never bothered me anyways.
did that with trip world. The tension was ...
Yikes im sure that was a very tense moment. Hopefully you were successful
Does this work for super nintendo cartridges?
Works with any sticker or label 👍👍👍
Nice!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
You are welcome hope your label removal goes well🙏
Never knew there was a way to switch labels. Very useful. I will use this method. But what about labels not protected by a film layer?
Its actually better if it doesn't have the plastic film layer less chance of ruining the label.
My only concern would be if the labels smell of lighter fluid afterwards?
Usually smell goes away but you could always test it on something first.
Pizza time.👍🏻👍🏻

Ha ha thanks for the tip man will try it out next time😁
they not give a bad odour after this ?
Not for me it just evaporates over time. Try it out on something you don't care about first to find out though
I need more from your mic, friend, but thanks for your great video
Working on it! Thanks
I remember playing mega man dr wilys revenge for the Nintendo game boy
Megaman is the classic.
could you please turn up the music next time :)
You got it dude!
Isn't this gonna make your carts smell like lighter fluid?
Nah the smell goes away in a couple minutes
