It took me 10 viewings before I noticed how brilliant Ian Holm was as Ash in the original movie.
The first viewing, you would never see it coming.
But repeated viewings, you notice these subtle "off" ticks, mainly in the eyes and facial muscles - it was an acting masterclass for playing a robot, who is supposed to be indistinguishable from a human.

Next movie should just be an army of Michael Fassbenders fighting Aliens.

ecz4 oh no they went AMD and got the budget Android, probably going to blue screen and have really shitty drivers. I bet right when it's time for him to save everybody from the alien, he crashes and says ERROR: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
That look at 02:07 sumps up the character perfectly. I know Walter was a "good" android in this movie, but somehow you still see the emotionless, cold and terrifying David when you look into those eyes. You can just sense something inhuman and evil with that smile, as if you already know he is going to betray humanity at some point. Amazing actor!

Walter is the antecedent of Bishop. This branch of synthetics served humanity till death. That look is a "knowing" look as if to say what a ball player he is and that he will never supersede the human's agenda like a star recruit that was just head-hunted. David was too independent where you never knew what was going on in that skull of his.
I LOVE the sublty eerie look at the end from Walter. Such depth in Fassbender's facial features.

It's very similar to the Prometheus marketing campaign.
Zenkai The marketing for Independence Day Resurgence was great too
but i wouldn't be comparing the two too quickly
Prometheus marketing was also very promising and we all saw how that movie worked out. But I have a feeling this movie will even be worse.

It was great! But people expected more. But as usually they use a bunch of scenes in marketing that werent in the movie and trailers had the best scenes in them and gave a false storyline.
I think the reason why the techs working on Walter are wearing masks is because he has some sort of automatic "imprinting" program installed in him based upon facial recognition. That way he will automatically "care" about the people he is assigned to the minute he sees them. The techs wear masks because they don't want every Walter to imprint upon them the minute they are activated.
The big thing that jumps out in the Walter video compared to the David video is that there are humans in the Walter video. They make it a point to show Walter in the presence of humans and interacting with them, but the David video only had David talking about all the things he could do by himself.
To me this suggests that they purposely designed Walter to either be less independent than David or to "value" humans in a way that they did not design David to do.

Is it wrong for me to feel like this song is really sensual and considering it's Fassbender, that it is incredibly fitting?? I love the fact that they're saying "we're going to build a physically perfect being" and they go with Michael Fassbender :D
Is it just me that thinks Michael Fassbender is the most underrated actor in history, he plays androids so well, I guarantee he will once again steal the show in Covenant like he did in Prometheus. Such a fantastic actor

I like the way, when they ask him his name, before he answers there's a reflection of '8' on the glass. Subliminally hints that he's David 8 - but he's not.
If there's one thing the Alien franchise doesn't get enough credit for, it's the absolutely fascinating exploration of Artificial Intelligence and how it relates to human beings as well as how it relates to human discovery & exploration.
This trailer is a gorgeous example of their premise. The remarkable premise that is the Androids, brought to you by the Alien series.
You forgot that a.i. contributes to horrible things in the Aliem franchise.
In the fist movie Ash was the only one who was fascinated by a vicious killer xenomorph and saw it as a holy grail. He admired it.
And David was the one who made xenomorphs even.possible. Just because he had a god complex and was too curious. He didnt give a damn about humans and just followed his agenda to create something new.
A.I. is a truly horrible and terrifying thing.

Can we just talk about how it has the exact same sequence as the new Microsoft ads? Product being built, product completed, product humanised through use or expose sequence with a song, end card. It even has the same feel and look kinda weird but cool I like it.

Michael fassbender destroys it he plays such a solid android. Prometheus was taken to a higher level by his performance as David Aka Walter.
David isn't aka Walter. They're two separate androids.
David was a former model, which had similarity to emotions...but megalomane in the case of David.
The promos for Covenant were some of the best stuff ever.
The movie plus Prometheus get shit on a lot, because allegedly they didnt live up to the Alien franchise.
But Ridley is dealing with HUGE STUFF in this one. Massive stuff. Humanity origins, plus some amazing insight into future technology, cyborgs.
Crazy that people are hating this. It may've had some badly scripted parts but there were awesome parts as well...

On the contrary, the problem wasn't with the lack of xenomorphs at all. It was simply very, VERY piss poor writing, but the real crime here is that you're trying to excuse that by actually suggesting Prometheus was profound in any way other than how bad it was.

An observation about the Walter model is his American accent and it seems that he looked more built and taller than David 8. In addition, he was built by Weyland Yutani Corporation. Perhaps it was just the camera angle.

Not seeing Kubrick at all. Prometheus was probably as far from Kubrickian as any science fiction film gets. Alien clearly took some inspiration but Prometheus is entirely different.
