I finally found a way to do "Audio Hijack" in Windows!
    Thanks for producing this video!

@@clickbaitpro With this tutorial. I used Vb audio cable + VST host, it's the only thing it worked for me. I really wanted to use a VST compressor on windows because voices sounded really quiet and other sounds were too loud, everywhere I looked Equalizer APO was recommended but it simply doesn't work on my computer no matter what I tried and allegedly there was no other alternative... until I found this video.

Thank you!!! Have been looking for a solution for months to a very resonant room mode at 140Hz in my office. Had demoed Sonarworks + SoundDesk -- but both were more than what I needed, cluttered the App Switcher, and cost $. A slight tweak to my google search terms brought me to your video, and MenuBus, which does exactly what I want.
On my studio PC, I use Voicemeeter Banana for system output. It has a built in 8-band EQ which allows me to fix in the most troubling room EQ issues (notably, 140Hz there as well), while using a more detailed curve with Pro Q3 attached to Cubase's Control Room.

Fantastic. First time I've even encountered this topic. It came up on IK multimedia's comment section for their ARC 3 promo video.

We did try equaliser APO, but it only worked on some of the computers we tried it on, whereas this method seemingly worked on everything.
This might be something that gets sorted out in a later revision.

I really do not recommend Equalizer APO, as i tested the audio with the same EQ vst and preset with Equalizer APO and with Virtual Audio Cable and i can tell a difference in output quality (All with the very same configurations). APO sounded a little bit more muffled like 5% more watery sounding. And i really didn't like it and i returned to the crisp more natural sounding vst chain using Reaper or Fl Studio or Pedalboard2 or Ableton Live with Virtual Audio Cable since that year (Sep2018) till this day. You can trust me. i take sound really really seriously its like my life fate jaja.

@@newmachine00 I switched over to using VST Host with Virtual Audio Cable since watching this video. I did not notice any audio quality issues with APO but I also did not ABX test it against VST Host, so who’s to say there aren’t any. I’m a bit confused by your statement regarding your usage of Virtual Audio Cable with multiple DAWs. I’m using this solution so that I can use VST plugins system wide in windows, not inside my DAW. Maybe I’m misunderstanding you?

@@newmachine00 Hi there! Could you be more specific please how you could make it worked with FL studio on Windows? I'm about to use ARC 3 systemwide, but no succees when i try to connect in VST host with VB cable installed. FL works the best with ASIO, but this method works with the VB Cable, so how do you set all to operate? Or may i need to delete ASIO and use it as in the video? Im not sure if FL could go like that without issue.
There are too many drivers now that i can not see through how to connect them.

    • @newmachine00
      @newmachine00 3 роки тому

@@yoldon Well, Necessary Rules for it to work. You have to uninstall All now FL VirtualAudioCable Viper4Windows if you have it installed All & Reboot. Ok. 1- install Fl Studio 20.0.4 or newer version because 20 or newer come with the new FL Studio ASIO driver that it's Not ASIO4all Don't use any other ASIO only the FL Studio ASIO. Uncheck all only left in the installer FL Studio ASIO driver ok. Now install Virtual Audio Cable and it already comes with 1 virtual audio cable already connected so i left it default. No needed actions, Reboot. after that you only open FL and install or rescan all your vstplugins and set in Options - Audio Settings THE BUFFER LENGHT that is showed when you clic in Show ASIO panel. there you set the input output and Important before using vst in the output you go to the mixer in FL and set the input where it says "none" and the output too where it says "none" set to the showed in the drop menu in 1 in 2 & out 1 out 2. Thats all you use ARC 3 in the master and its ready to go, when you start example Winamp.. or Aimp4 you will now listen to it through FL with the fabfilters or the ARC 3 on or bypassed. I have a better solution to all this i'm now using a less complicated way and it runs like a charm; I use Pedalboard2 Vst Host & VirtualAudioCable and it runs all vst2 smooth & in an amazingly lightweight manner. And i think it's better that eq apo, reaper, fl, ableton, cubase, etc.

So let me get this straight. The process on this video means skipping Asio and instead hooking up the computer audio such as Windows Realtek to be the source that goes through my audio interface ? If that's the case, then can I use the Maxx Audio efffects such as spacial or Dolby effects onto my DAW session ? If that is the case it is a truly huge step up in audio quality along with of course the regular mixing and plugins put forth in the mix. I'm I right or wrong on all these assumptions ? Help me someone.

I am currently using PedalBoard, so I can have a separate bus for Tonal Balance Control, but the main problem (apart from growing latency) is that it only supports VST2. So here is hoping that VST Host supports the newer format...

Maybe a good video idea 💡 is there any way out there for pc to have your mic audio sound identical or near to stream mic?
Like in game voice chat to have the same input sound source with plugins active before it gets to the game?
    Been curious about this.
Mv7 i use it mainly because its convient and gives my game chat audio a comprerable sound but could be better to get identical. Minus game chat audio limitstions of course.

Ouf... I don't get any audio running through. Followed the instructions in this video but I don't understand what I did wrong. I was able to set the settings correctly but no sound. It refuses to save input to VB Audio Cable and defaults back to "No wave" when I reopen the menu, maybe that's the reason, I don't know.

Good day Sir today is the first time I am visiting this site. I am interested in learning how to properly used the computer for music production. I have been trying for over ten years in sitting up my studio, I am a guitarist that have been using the keys boards. I would like to get some guidance as how to go about sitting up my equipment. I have computer of which I suspects need upgrading, I have my keyboard, interface speakers etc. But here is my problem, I need to learn accessing software and programs and how to use them. I would appreciate if you can guide me as to sitting up my system. Thanks in advance Steven

Are there any options for a guy like me that wants to use his HD660S with his TV, but he wants to be able to EQ them and fix a left / right imbalance in them..?
Of course I do this easily in the Cubase control room with a Pro-Q 2, but I haven't yet on my brief travels seen a headphone amp that has either EQ or any kind of panning options..?
    Thanks.

I used to use system-wide audio processing before using Pedalboard2 and it worked great on my last laptop, however on my current laptop no matter what I do: using ASIO, Windows Audio, Direct Audio, increasing/decreasing buffer size, etc. (including using VSTHost, which shouldn't be too different from Pedalboard2) I still experience bad stuttering (which sounds a lot different on ASIO, which is what I was using on my last laptop).
Do you have any clue why this would be happening? My laptop is a MSI GF75 Thin 9SD.
