Hey All! This is the FINAL episode for Season 2. THANK YOU to everyone who has come along with us on our mushrooming adventures--and an extra thank you to those who have shared our video with others! We've got some great ideas and content for Season 3. Maybe we can force Zach in front of the camera more? Again, thank you all for your support, likes and comments--it helps this brother sister team keep at it.
A big thank you to all of you guys of Yellow Eleanor, I have learnt loads watching all your videos. The editing and camera work is awesome and Rachel is a great presenter, full of knowledge. Me and my little brother have been mushrooming all autumn because we was really inspired by your passion. So a big thanks from Suffolk in the U.K! To all of you. Cant wait for season 3.
Your UA-cam channel is new to me. Your teaching of mushroom hunting, cleaning, preparation and cooking is very well done. Down here on the central coast of Californian I have hunted the Chanterelles and meadow mushrooms. Like hearing your identification knowledge on other good mushrooms, and identifying not so good, or best left in the forest mushrooms. Keep up the work. Thanks 🇺🇸👍🏻
I do need a personalized one! And thank you for all the encouragement and support, we appreciate you always watching and commenting and lettings us know what you enjoyed.
Yellow Elanor Your Instagram page has been one of my favorites for years! You once graciously helped to positively ID the cinnabar chanterelles that grow here in Texas. I felt so honored that you took time out to acknowledge my query. 🙇♀️☺️
I respect that you are reviewing something you already know and love. I am so sick of "out of the box" reviews by people who just basically review stuff without ever using it. There is another channel "Survival Russia" Lars actually reviews a lot of stuff pro bono just because he likes the products and he uses them in his daily life. Did someone say the post-modern struggle is finding "authenticity"??
Thank you! I'll have to check out Lars' channel to see what kinds of things he likes, I've done a few reviews on my Instagram just for fun-things I use and want to share. Haha, and yeah, the struggle is real...authenticity! I'm a terrible actor (just ask my brother), so it better be a product I enjoy using or else it'll come off as super cheesy ;)
I definitely felt like a “legit mushroom forager” when I got an Opinel for Christmas last year!! I know a certain someone that needs one and I’ll definitely be getting it engraved. Thanks for another great educational video!
Nice variety basket. My sons and I made our own knives with brushes back 25 years ago when they were just young boys. Now they’re in their later 30s I think I will be giving them and myself one of those Opinel knives. We all still love mushrooming to this day.
I love that you made your own knives with brushes for mushroom hunting! New knives sounds like a great gift. I hope my sons still love mushroom hunting when they're older.
You are one of my favorite people already. So cool. I have to get one of those. I love the cleaning the nails part, it is always been one of my banes, esp for when I spot something to film and only have so much time to capture the scene. So on my list for sure. Glad your bro kept the part when you said snug as a bug in a rug, too cute! Thanks for sharing your vast amounts of knowledge with the world. My love to you and yours! Great filming as well to your amazing bro!
You are so kind, thank you! Haha, I'm glad we kept the cleaning the nails part in....annnd even the snug as a bug part too. My brother knows what he's doing, even when I say "don't use that." 😊
We should be getting snow this week, the season is about to end. Thank you for your kind words! Winter is a great time to read up as much as possible. Get ready for spring!
As snug as a bug in a basket! LOL. Definitely ordering my Opinel knife. I really appreciate your advice about how to prepare, cook and preserve our favorite mushrooms. I can't say enough about your videos! Thank you very mush :)
Heh, that would have been a better line. And I should know by now that if I say 'don't put that in there', he's gonna do it. And you're welcome! Thanks so mush for watching!
It's always interesting watching your videos, thanks for all the useful information you're giving to the people and of course, keep up your great sense of humor!
No nice and positive attitude. Thank you so much for all the information. It is first video I watched and I subscribed and liked because I believe that you deserve so much more views and subscribers.
Eleanor, thank you. Had no idea of the availability of a speciality mushroom knife. I put one on my Christmas list, and since Santa knows Lapland’s Amanita Muscaria so well, and I’ve been so good (?), he’ll bring it - I’m sure. Stay awesome.
This video is really beautiful visually, well done! Opinel makes some great knives, perhaps I will try their mushrooming knife as well :) thanks for the video.
Thank you, I love how it turned out visually as well. And yes try the mushroom knife, I have a few other Opinel knives as well (but of course I use the mushroom one the most).
Loved the prep and cooking tips. The Cauliflower looks similar to the Bear's Head. Does it cook up the same? I love the Bear's Head. You should do a cooking video and pair with some venison.
Such a great video - thank you so much for the tips! With such mild weather we've been having here in WA, I'm really aching to get out there and get some mushrooms, especially matsutaki. Haven't found one yet, but I hope to soon.
Wow, this video was so well produced and informative! And Elanor is quite the host!! The sub & view counts are super under-representative of the quality of this channel. I can't wait to see those numbers skyrocket!!!
Cool how Zach got the knife to spin in the air! I actually have great success drying my Chanterelles here in the SE. I find no drop off in texture or flavor with them when re-hydrated in cooking. I'll check out the knives. Thanks to you both for your superb videos.
I found one of those Hericium sp last year. They do taste like crab or lobster, even the texture seems similar. I just put them in a pan with olive oil and a bit of garlic. I hope I find some again this year.
Saluti.
It's Monday December 9th 2019 and the blewits are popping, not sure if you've ever covered a blewit, but my taste buds say these are beyond choice edible
This was filmed just over a week ago! All these mushrooms are still coming up in the PNW, but you do have to go to the right pockets to find them, the mountains have frozen over now.
Mushroom of the Redwood Coast is fantastic. Great photos and descriptions. We aren't exactly on the redwood coast, but close enough--and the book has nice notes on 'if you live further north...' which helps bring it in for our area. Mushroom of the PNW is also good, less species in that guide and it's a little older so some of the scientific names are inaccurate (that'll happen even if a book is a year old though). The Complete Mushroom Hunter is the best book for edible mushrooms--not a field guide though, just helps you hone in on edible species on a more in depth level.

I deep-fry pieces of the cauliflower and use it as a nutty crunchy addition like a croutons in salads or in couscous.
Deep fry, that sounds fun! Thanks for the suggestion.
Looking forward to that mushroom cooking show in the near future.
