I was there when Jaclyn was filming her Snapchat to bash Jen Gerard and never once did she bring up the Karina Kaboom situation. We were on a trip together- manny, Jaclyn, Linda (from Morphe) and myself and Jaclyn was focused on what money she would make with her collab with Morphe.
If Jaclyn was worried about the morality over what Jen said about Karina then why did she continue to text Jen asking about her commissions, lab connects, etc? There’s so much to be said but it require writing a book at this point 😬
Write the book Marlena, and self publish it.
The morality comment had me rolling my eyes. If there was anyone in this world I’ve ever seen with less of a moral compass…it’s Jaclyn. Manny is pretty high on that list too.

Sidenote Jaclyn calling anyone out for "morality" or lack there of is the richest of irony. Jaclyn wouldn't know morality if it moved in because she has no moral compass at all.

Nothing will ever convince me that Jaclyn Hill is a good person in any way shape or form. Genuinely never heard of another youtuber who lies THIS much constantly, destroys everything she touches by cutting corners, and being SO UNBELIEVABLY GREEDY.
Someone needs to create a documentary discussing all these controversies with Jaclyn. I don’t think this drama will stop until someone does that. $250,000 to pay someone off as a demand is extortion.

I know for sure caffeine can enter the skin. During my Biotech Laboratory training I had Instrumental Analysis courses and we used caffeine. The professors clearly told us to not touch it without gloves. Pure caffeine is too much. So long story short, that molecule is small enough to pass trough skin.
Good for you Jen Gerard. I never knew anything about Jaclyn Hill at all. I knew nothing about her channel, her makeup, or her scandals. I know Jen Gerard from her fabulous products, her kindness and her support of the beauty community I am just coming to know. As I started to learn more of Jaclyn Hill, I’m not surprised to hear that she claims creative rights where it isn’t deserved. I suspected she honed her clout wielding skills, pretty early on. I am sorry that Jen had to go through this. The harassment and cancelling must have been harrowing. This last year has been horrific for Jen Gerard. Her kindness and perseverance have remained. I’m glad she’s speaking out now. She must have been smiling through “lipstick gate”.
I just don't understand why nobody is calling out Manny for posting that video without Jen's permission. I started the beauty community in 2016, and had subscribed to Karina for awhile and thus whole time, I would just hear whispers of what happened and I didn't know what really happened but I'm overjoyed that Marlena and Jen are speaking out about Jaclyn and her horrible behavior and the evil, heartless, greedy things she has done to other women in this community. I wish Jen and Marlena had felt like they could speak out back then. I'm sure it wasn't easy, staying quiet about the damage Jaclyn has done to them and others. There is only one other person that I can think of, who is more full of $hit than Jaclyn and we know who he is but let's just leave it at; Jaclyn is a liar and needs to be canceled, finally, for good imo.

@@Petunia1738 Did you watch this video. Manny was staying at her house and posted a video, out of context, without Jen's permission and she was wrongly persecuted for saying the truth. I used to watch Karina Kaboom and she is definitely an ugly person on the inside and you can't go wrong telling the truth; which Jen did and Jaclyn is a stranger to the truth.
The function of beauty shampoo and conditioner was at target as well and I picked the three add ins and followed the directions. It left the nastiest residue in my hair. I couldn’t get it to work at all 💔 (I have fine straight hair if anyone sees this and cares lol)
I'm dying laughing at Asos, throwing a Bday party for Kylie & she wasn't even there! 🤣😂 So cringe! Imagine all the influencers that went excited thinking she'd be there...SIKE!😅
Before any of the drama between brand owners and JH, there was a video she posted mocking homeless people on the streets of LA. It was really bad. I remember she went online and did an “apology”. She also had falling out with Nicole in Florida and Kathleen Lights and the infamous “N” word video JH posted to social media against what Kathleen asked. There are plenty of examples of JH’s character. And none are good.

I remember someone at my workplace trying to explain cosmetics drama to me. My response was “ why are people fighting about eyeshadow?” I stand by my 2015 comment 😂
Well the point is it WASNT about eyeshadow…or lipstick in this case. It was about someone people trusted lying and apparently trying to extort.
I remember when this happened with Jen. I can't believe she held this in for so long. Just shows how strong she is. I guess she was waiting for the prefect time when people have their eyes opened to Jaclyn's crap!
JG is seriously such a kind and humble soul. I’ve sat back and watched her support and uplift smaller creators for years. She has a heart of gold and seriously just wants to see others succeed. I’m so glad she’s speaking out on this. I have so much respect for her. ❤

Marlena Stell did actually reveal the truth about the Jaclyn collab in 2019, with receipts included. It was not as fiery as her Reddit post or her podcast appearance, but tea channels did report on it. Sadly, she has since deleted the video and only a few clips can be found on UA-cam.

I bought the Jaclyn lipsticks from Gerard C. And when she trashed the brand I believed her and I thought GG was a shitty brand for years !! And when people started talking about the brand again I was like “omg no that’s not a brand to support” . I never spoke bad about GG but you know. All because of one person. Of course I have totally shifted my perspective on the situation thanks to Jen and Jen 😘. But I still feel bad about falling for those lies (amongst others) .

I’m seriously considering the Dose of Color/Trevor B palette. It’s so perfect! One + thing Jaclyn Hill has done: brought attention to 2 amazing women. I found Marlena Stell and her wealth of beauty knowledge. And I’m going to look into Gerard Cosmetics.
I was in the beauty community back then doing makeup for weddings and would watch beauty influencers all the time for new tricks and I remember this. This was the moment I stopped anything to do with manny mua it pissed me off he even posted his snapchat bullying kaboom I was done. He was being sneaky and didn’t have to post a private convo. And then a few months later jacklyn did the same thing to Kathleen lights when she went to her house and that’s when I stopped following jacklyn. I seen her true colors. She was trying to destroy Kathleen lights. She said the N word while playing a video game with jacklyn hill and Jacklyn posted it on snapchat. So I was done. It was a private moment and it was posted in a sneaky way and it felt to me that she was trying to destroy the competition cuz Kathleen lights was starting to work with morphe. Seems like Jacklyn is this dishonest disgusting despicable person. I seen this bs back in 2016 about Jacklyn hill

The skincare in concealer topic- I assume it does to an extent bc if certain skincare ingredients that break me out are in makeup, I still break out. So some level of absorption is happening!
Man, the Karina Kaboom/Gerard Cosmetics thing is such a flashback to the "innocent" days of the makeup space on UA-cam. That's when I first started paying attention to all these people.

I think the Natasha Denona and Naked palettes are going to get LOTS of airtime, so I'd honestly rather see a review of the Dose of Colors palette - I don't see the brand's launches reviewed that often and that color story was really interesting!
The MLM, Younique, did a similar thing with face serum a few years back. There was a base formula and then you added little vials to it depending on your goals.

“Stan” is my arthritis medicine 😂. 1995 is one of my favorite lippies and I had NO clue it was part of an attempted colab. I have always been transparent in my own videos, I refuse to tear ANY brand down……Products may not work for me, but that’s ME! Could be beautiful on others.
With my interaction with Jen Gerard online, she’s been nothing but a sweetheart. Jaclyn Hill always wants to blame others except herself. I used to like her, but she has shown her true colors.

She is interesting.. from 2017-2020 all she did was drama videos on Jeffree Star and he never once acknowledged her or her channel.. yet she made [hundreds] of videos about him. Then around 2020 she moved on to someone named "Amberlynn" and seems to be satisfied with doing hundreds of videos on her.. 🙄 The life of a "drama channel".

When you showed the skid row palette in all its grungy packaging glory, then you opened it to reveal shades reminiscent of poppy flowers, I was not expecting that at all. I was expecting it to look like the Melt weed palette inside for some reason 😂

@jenluv In the south, we use that phrase, “ugly person or ugliest person I’ve ever met”, as a colloquial statement to refer to someone’s behavior, attitude, and aggressiveness, not their outward looks but inner self. In that video of Karina Kaboom, she came off very aggressive and angry about a lipstick, which seemed unnecessary and extreme to me when I saw it and I felt the same way as Jen. She could have just stated it didn’t look good on her but she went much further than that. I would have taken that personal if I was a creator. That type of attitude made me not watch her anymore.
I have only seen a Jacklyn video once and I couldn't even watch the whole video because I immediately picked up on her dishonesty, manipulation, narcissistic personality, and knew I couldn't and wouldn't trust her as far as I could throw her as the saying goes.... So I don't understand how soooooo many people failed to see the type of person she truly is. And everything I have heard about her, from her family being grifters, to the makeup geek issue to lipstick gate, none of it has been good. Yet somehow she manages to manipulate people into staying as subscribers etc. How and why?? I mean what does it take, how many massive lies and failed projects does she need to say and have before people get she doesn't care about them???? She's a GRIFTER, or for those like me who are older, a snake oil salesmen..... The moment she starts talking, and she talks really fast on purpose to make it easier to lie and manipulate people, but the moment she does she's lying..... So I don't get how people can still like her, why anyone would do business with her, and why anyone would support her by buying her products....... It's truly a smh kind of moment. She is a truly horrible human being. She's also not a superstar, or some celebrity. She's just a regular old person, but one who does what she can to scam people. I dare say she's never worked an honest days living in her life, not once.

Yeah same, I’ve always felt like she was a phoney tbh. It’s very shocking how many people don’t recognize narcissistic behaviors and tendencies , I watch a lot of lawtube and some true crime and usually look at the comments of trials because some people are informative about laws etc, but you’d be shocked how many people I see defending awful manipulative criminals in comments threads because they actually believe them 😅, it’s wiiiiild!!!!
Jen, you are the only female "beauty" "makeup" "controversy" "reporter" I am actively subscribed to after 4-5 years. The rest consist of Welsh twins and Johnny Ross. I'm over the drama and you keep it real. Thank you. Also, per usual, don't have nice things to say about Jac so I won't, just wish more people had brain cells to realize she's a narcissistic joke.
You know it's crazy because I stopped buying from Gérard cosmetics because of this and it's only after watching this that I remembered this was why! I'd seen their stuff recently and not purchased because I remembered there was a reason I'd stopped but couldn't remember exactly what. I only ever followed Jaclyn for a short period of time, but at one point I did think of her as a trustworthy source 🙈 I absolutely loved Gérard cosmetics and I will be revisiting them again 😬

This is a going to an unpopular opinion but i’ve noticed that all these brand owners who have signed up with Jaclyn did so because they were thinking money & profits only. People tend to work with and be friendly with people who are similar to themselves.
The flaws that Jaclyn has, I see the same flaws ( albeit on a smaller scale) with the these brand owners. I’ve seen these brand owners treat other influencers (usually of colour) in a cold and callous way. It’s all about money with these people but if you lay around with dogs, don’t be surprised when you get fleas.
Just my opinion of course.

Well the story is missing something the email was after her pics were taken down (based on the video) so where is the email where the influencer requests the collab to end? that email is the negotiation AFTER a request to end. I want to see the initial communications. So I can make a fair assessment.

I was a small influencer during this time. I didn’t have any collaborations but I did get PR from big companies like fashion nova, Anastasia Beverly Hills, benefit, melt cosmetics and Marc Jacob’s. It was a dream come true. I wish I could’ve gotten the opportunities JH did.
The Natasha Denona palette looks pretty awesome! I don’t spend that kind of money on palettes but this one, depending on the reviews when it comes out and hoping you’ll review it, is colors that I love and all the shades look usable.
I absolutely am drawn to the Natasha Denona pallet. I'm a color girl but that nude pallet is calling to me. 🌸💜💜🌸

Thanks for the Batiste heads up. I actually just decluttered mine because I like a different one better but I will submit my claim I'm exposed to too many chemicals in general. I don't need my dry shampoo to be causing me problems.

Nothing stands out to me from the releases EXCEPT the Dose of Colors palette. I haven't purchased hard makeup in months but I'm definitely getting that! Jen you should too!

I’ve never been a fan of Jaclyn, she never felt genuine to me- I also don’t own anything from Gerard Cosmetics- but I stand with the companies who have been torn down by her. I own MakeupGeek eyeshadow and it’s the best formula I’ve used- what happened to Marlena was really sad!

I work at Sephora….we got the graphics for the Make Up By Mario concealer release….but we still have not got the actual concealers. 🤦🏼♀️And his brand isn’t on our “out of stock” list….

What is going on in makeup and skin/hair care world that SO MANY BRANDS are on a basically world wide back order…we were told as soon as things become available they will be expedited to the store….and Rare Beauty as an entire brand said (expect for the remainder of the year)
What is going on that brands cannot make enough product to sell. Social media has obviously made it harder with trending products etc…but we got a full page of brands listed that are affected. Is it some ingredient that’s hard to come by? Is social media REALLY pushing sales so much that brands are on a world wide back order? It’s weird. Our shelves are getting more bare by the day.
I’d love to see a review of the DoC palette! I didn’t even know it existed and it’s beautiful. ❤ The other palettes will be everywhere online but the DoC one is going to fly under the radar.

I ordered the Makeup by Mario concealer because of the caffeine, color correction, and self setting. But I don't put anything but hydrating skin care (and sometimes a brightener) on my undereyes before concealer. I've never had a good face day when I put foundation or primer under my eyes before concealer.
You are the first person I've seen say the ND palette is boring! Thank you, because it IS boring! It's just a neutral palette. Everyone else is losing their crap over it without noting it's BEEN DONE by a TON of other people. Great, you love the formula. That's awesome. There is nothing unique about it.

Oh my gosh my daughter played Audie 2 in our community theater a few years ago. She did have to sing (like the movie). This is one of my all time favorite movies. I may have to buy it and mail it to her as a surprise!

Skincare 101: always wear sunscreen. Absolutely nothing is going to get to your skin after you put sunscreen on. That's the point. Makeup with skincare ingredients sounds nice, but unless it's on your eyelids where you don't put on sunscreen, it's not helping. It's a gimmick.

Man, all of these brands come out with new foundation/concealer products and they are never even close to being pale enough I've got a tiff!!! Haha. I love my Natasha Denona palettes. I know they are so pricy, but for me, a nice case that will last and last and last, the magnetic pans that are very easily interchangeable, they just are consistent and I love them so much.
Jen Gerard is such a lovely person i feel bad for everything she’s gone through from the drama fall out because she wouldn’t though people under the bus. When I started creating content she was the 1st person to ever add me to a list, affiliate etc. because of that I’ll always promote the brand as I love there formulas. My large family switch to GC lip formulas verse MAC because of the amazing quality. I hope they become more popular as they are stunning.
I honestly wish you would do an interview with Jen from production to everything not because like you said biased but because you would ask all the right questions we all want to know the answers to.

I think Swoop should make Jaclyn her next documentary. Jen was done so dirty by Karina and Jaclyn. I’m so happy you shared Jen’s story. I’ve had lovely exchanges with Jen on social media and she is lovely. Wearer both law commentary fans and she did shades for Emily D Baker and the Law Nerds. I have used Gerard Cosmetics products over the years and never had a problem. I watched 2 videos of Karina’s a polish review which was negative then the vitriol filled review of Jen’s lipstick products with Jaclyn. I never watched another video of hers. Couldn’t stomach giving her the views or listening to her trashcan speech. Thank you for giving Jen’s side a larger audience. She deserves it.❤
Thanks for the heads up with the Batiste Dry Shampoo settlement. I had no idea and had bought a few within the time frame, so hopefully, I'll see some form of compensation. Also, with the function of beauty products, they have that type of kit at Target and have had it for a while there, too.
