I see the 3051 often here in Saint Helens and usually paired with 3003. Actually, it has been on the tracks on my frequent trips along Hwy 30 to where they join the BNSF lines in NW Portland. We also have BNSF engines and once I saw a CN engine come through the track by my house. (those usually have tanker cars on them and lately go through around 3 or 4 in the morning) It has been a bit of time since a train has stopped where the PNWR office sits, but the switching yard is still very active here in Saint Helens. Thanks for posting this. I haven't seen a train go through Rainier in many years since I rarely go north anymore.
I have driven along this line on the way to Astoria many times. It would be great if freight traffic went all the way there, but I think they would need to do extensive rework to make that happen now. I must say that the wrapping on that drywall doesn't look all that great.
USGF also makes shingles. Covered hoppers - gravel - rubber chips Boxcars- paper rolls, plastic outer-wrapping Tank cars- asphalt and adhesive Center beams - shipment Boxcars - shipment
I was on my lunch break when I watched your video. Didn't get to finish. There is a crew stationed at Rainier. It uses be stationed in St. Helens, but that has changed.
We are on the Washington side of the Columbia and hear the train go by often.

There's also a local based out of Linnton in Northwest Portland
Awesome would love to see more of this line
Great location, interesting operations! Thank you! In like the FF to get the essential parts focused on! Great job!
Glad you enjoyed it!
P&W did a bunch of track work on this line this summer. Port Westward has a few large customers there and with more to come
Excellent video! Great info. Enjoying the variety of locations.
Fantastic, looking forward to more!

Gypsum is used in plaster and fertilizer
US Gypsum has a dock on the Columbia River for receiving Gypsum by ship, but sometimes arrives by rail in covered hoppers
If I remember correctly, the boxcars are loaded with the paper needed to make the wallboard
Cool video!

Thank you for another great video :)
Jolie vidéo de manoeuvre. Merci.
BNSF has trackage rights on this line but it's only for oil trains.
I’d love to catch one of those going down the middle of Rainier!
Locomotive has soot!
