This is a masterfully produced remote recording using direct injection guitars and keyboards in case the live performance instrument had to be used during post (and as a guide track for the studio drop ins). The kick drum is triggered to a sampler, and the well shielded kit (cymbals lowered behind the plexiglass) features barely noticeable remnants of the live kit (except that slightly doubled snare sound and the off and on use of live toms Tommy's vocal is a blending of both live and overdubbed "effected" vocals made possible by using that hyper directional vocal mic which picked up only directly in dead center and up close. By adding a well tuned gate the remote truck engineer was able to reject most everything else from the peripheral stage audio. I doubt any background vocals are used here. In summary, Tommy James has and always will place technical excellence in it's rightful perspective in the creative process. Masterfully produced and superior effort. I am in awe
Yeah, but why does it take 15 minutes to cook minute rice? You can still hear Tommy singing after his lips stop moving...0:32 - at 0:34 you hear "time" but he closes his mouth for the last part of it. Saw him a few years ago at the American Music Theater, amazing!

Great band, should be in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame! One of the few bands who made the transition from the early 60's sound through the 70's.
True! Hanky Panky with it's surfing guitars and amplifiers to songs like this and Crystal Blue Persuasion is quite a stretch.
Oh my God! Cannot quit watching this! They do not make music like this anymore!
Thanks so much for posting this.
I'm speechless ... How wonderful to see this song performed live! How is it possible that Tommy James; voice has improved over the past 45 years?
My longtime favorite Sunday Song. Thank you TJ and Shondells for this and all of your fabulous songs of well over a half century!
Tommy is still awesome! A fan since the mid 60s...
I have this show on DVD and been watching it over and over for several years. I’ve been a huge Tommy James fanatic since the 1960s. Thank you Tommy🎸
I love the way he sings his songs today as they were back then. Most singers seem to add embellishments over time.
Great great talent. Tommy your songs take me to such a great time in my life. I am sure that I speak for many.
Absolutely 😁👏👏👏👏👏
You sure speak for me, too. And to think that Tommy was just a 16 year old kid when he played that great guitar solo on Hanky Panky.
My favorite group of all time. Awesome.

Kicking and solid sounding
Especially with the drummers
Tight drum beat and the slight
Funky bass groove pushing
Throughout the song as well
Plus,the singer was
More ballsier in the vocals
Dept
Tommy James version was
nice, but it was too late back
For my taste
Almost at a slow yawning Pace....
And that's where tommy seriously
Held this song from bieng a #1 hit
For him
Just my opnion

I think it's femme jolie, French for pretty woman.
Thank you! I have always wondered what he was saying!
What's the girlfriend's name? Venga Lee? Venga Lee??
Femme Jolie (French for Pretty Woman)
I prefer The Clique's version.

Can someone please tell me who the drummer is???? So freaky ... he looks like a fiend of mine. could have been twins. So weird. Let me know if anyone knows anything about this drummer and his name??
Kat Smith I believe his name is Glenn Wyka
No, but the org. drummer, Jim Payne, was from the largest family in Mi.
Dubbed
Almost as good as The Clique. LOL
