Draupadi Vastraharan - Bharathanatyam by Kum.Subhadra Sriram

In this video excerpt, the scene of Draupadi Vastraharan is enacted where the Pandavas are made to lose everything to the Kauravas in the game of dice. They even bet their wife 'Draupadi' and lose her. The Kaurava king Duryadhana orders his brother Dushyasana to disrobe her in the court full of men.
Finding her husbands helpless and the great grandsires of Kuru clan silent, she called on Sri Krishna to help her.
As soon as her garments were pulled-off, fresh garments appeared forever and ever without stopping. Dushasana pulled and pulled, but couldn't succeed with his evil intentions.

I love how you are able to switch from one character to another in a split second and portray their emotions perfectly through your facial expressions. When you acted Draupadi at the end, with her realising that she was still wearing clothes, and that Sri Krishna had saved her, brought me to tears! 10/10 dance!

Wow. WOW! brilliant Abhinaya throughout but what stands out to me, where, I really have to applaud you, your guru, and music team : STILLNESS MEETS SILENCE.! For the dancer- to find, to keep, and to properly use stillness on stage takes a great deal of maturity & depth. As a dancer myself, I've only performed & seen this episode performed a thousand times; but it's only from the Bharathanatyam greats, that Draupadi's true essence makes it to the stage - the hurt & anger, the will & determined strength of the epic's unsung feminist icon. GIRL, YOU GOT IT! To your team & musicians - oof! that moment when draupadi lands and musical phrase ends in total SILENCE.... now THAT is how to affect an audience! BRAVO, all!
