Another lovely Job Justin despite the great British weather, great to get the family involved bro....that's how you used look aye!!! Good tips and advice for us too.👍
Meticulous work as always Justin - you've got a couple of great lads there mate, lucky you. And lucky them to have such a good mentor! Love the idea of spraying out the tiling format, worked a treat. Thanks for the video matey!
Lovely mate .you should tile a few bathrooms in the winter lol samething .might buy some ready mix primer next time bet its better than mixing it your self 👍👍
Another great video. Think it’s important to mention, the majority of porcelain is convex meaning you’ll never get a truly flat surface but usually the grout takes the dips away from the eye 👍🏼
Coming along nicely, Justin. Dayton seems quite chilled out and confident, hopefully it can just be a family affair now and both lads will become top grafters like their old man. Are you doing the rendering of the wall as well or are you subbing that out?
Hi Justin, thank you for all the tips and advice given. I am Currently doing the groundworks and getting ready to lay my porcelain patio. Got a question for you. Can you use 20mm porcelain tiles as a coping stone on top of a wall and does the over hand need a drip groove? I was a bit reluctant to do it this way as i thought the tile would not be strong enough but it look like you have uses them as coping stones and also for stairs with an overhang. If they can be used what is a good amount of overhang to have?.
Hi Justin any advice on laying 1200mm x 600mm porcelain slabs which camber in the middle, I’ve been laying paving for 15 years now never had as much trouble I’m pulling my hair out!!
Hi geraint Its a common theme with some porcelain unfortunately. Id say if it happens to contact to manufacturers of the porcelain and demand the change there product and give compensation. It shouldn't be sent out like that as its impossible for any installer to hide this in the installation. It actually makes the installer look at fault which is totally unfair. Unfortunately a lot of the lads dont get very far requesting the above and are left to battle on with a product that isn't fit for purpose. You have rights as a consumer though id use these rights.Check the batches of porcelain with a level before laying if you find the camber stop tell the customer. If had it half way through a patio was a nightmare its on UA-cam porcelain with a twist i called it check out the video. Its not your fault its the manufacturers think its to hot in the kiln or it drys to quite to form a camber .you cant do anything to hide it other than to refuse to install the product and insist on it being changed . Good luck if the company is a good one they will change the product for you if not your in a lot of worry .Its a very good question great post hope ive helped hold the manufacturer responsible. 👍🙌💯
This is the reason I bought precast concrete patio flag moulds Justin and started making my own flags . The moulds are made out of 3 mm abs plastic . I made a plywood box for each mould ( which the manufacturers recommend) and got a guy to make me steel racking so that each flag remained flat in the mould . A lot of the guys in the precast business never bothered with the boxes and good racking so a lot of the products they were supplying were bent and warped and were a nightmare to lay. Jobs coming on great.
I have actually done that before with a screed .Advantage is the paving is flat off the bat no level needed .disadvantage was it was going off in the sun and setting up planks over the screed. If i could master the disadvantages i mentioned it would be a good idea so thanks for the tip 👍
@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping we screed as we go, while the next slab is being pattered pull the screed for next row. only issue we found a normal mixer doesnt make a nice dry mix (doesnt go off quick) it needs too much water. pan mixer does the job. once you get it going you wont go back saves soo much time. keep up good work mate.
Your listen told ya on the window packers ages ago 😆😆 snap them in half turn that 100 pack into 200. Keep a full 1 slide over all the edges tile check for any lipping saves less time faffing all the time with level. Good practice also with level to buy can end focusing to much on bubbles as to tile edges. Justin am going get into ya again on the tools get the stabila type R best levels for landscape on decorative paving nice 40mm wide base 3 shape marking edges very good get a good lean on the when paving. Bro king front a don’t like the drop down bubble. On the plumb. Wee cross over piece through horizontal we bit a pain on bricklaying at catches the eye no need for as the edge it goes through is the only 1 that’s not your marking edged. 600 -1200. Not 1.8m. But the 2m fella. Get them bought overall would wan best designs on market more on landscape front. And bricklayers too with 40mm wide base just few we bits on it a would change for bricklaying
🤣🤣 i been looking at that level for a while always used stabila level only got the ox as was sent to me for free. My concern was with the type r the vial look set back to much .So question is is that an issue or is it ok .look good for landscape and patio work not sure it would be my go to for bricklaying. I like the wide profile and the 2m length but are you going out your way to see that horizontal bubble . Let me no and as always thanks lee .👍🙌💯
@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping No not at all bubbles are fine just the drop down vertical can be a bit pisser for me personally as whatever way a grab level will plumb with it’s some times wrong way round looking up the top for bubble. Level is great in the hand wide base top marks there also. The horizontal bubble a just thought the wee bit metal that continues through isn’t needed as the other 3 edges are the marking points great for marking lines etc. was going to cut that we bit away just catches the eye when at certain height when laying just a personal thing a guess but overall it’s all rounder landscape on tiles decorative paving fantastic get a good old lean on it just when hauling yourself up from the deck lol. Sure easily to clean it has really been designed well. 40mm wide base. 60mm in height which is good as extensions up here you set 60mm cavity off the 140mm block for the 50mm cavity 10mm for sheeting of timber kit saves using a type. The 1,s red handles they 60mm height also. Levels been on market for 5-6 years that design 85% design bang on for bricklaying 100% on design for anything else you want to use it for. Milwaukee redstick backbone great levels but they have thick black bands on outside of the vials which isn’t ideal for landscape for falls. But a have all there sizes also 🙃🙃🙃😆😆 would say there slightly better built than the stabila designed 1 with the red handles. Type R,s buddy. Buy if don’t like send them up in post to me Al refund ya. Add them massively expanding range of levels. 😆😆😆😆 Take care mate.
@lmilne4859 Just bought one and ive used your £50 to go towards it so much appreciated lee .seems there are some levels with one vial at end and one in the middle.Ive got the vials at each end the 2m monster they actually do a bigger 2.4 m think it is aswell. Anyway thanks as always for the tips. Appreciated Justin 👍💯👊
@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping Yeah the 4ft standard has bubble down near middle it’s designed so when your at any height you can get a look at eye level as to looking. Nice 1. @lmilne4859 Ordered just the one at mo see how i get on with it think it will be good on patios . Im thinking stick to the standard stabila on bricklaying never got on with a chucky level bricklaying and that bubble in the middle would do my nut in 🤣🤣 cheers lee ill put it on UA-cam when i get it let you no what i think mate . Thanks again 👍💯

Very true and to add sometimes the grout doesn't hide it 👍
Grout would make it worse I would say on a 5mm joint!
@GeraintPetty-ln8jp spot on the grout shows it more and when it rains 👍

Very interesting that thanks for sharing it 👍
Hi my Welsh wizard 😂 how much do you pay for the aco drain sections as they are expensive in the other side of the country
Hi Jimmy about £33 i think they are expensive but so much nicer 👍🙌
Maybe because if they were all stacked facing down and on top of each other they are more likely to break/crack ?
Good point jimmy 👏 👍
try laying them on a dry screed, 10 x faster and still rock solid.
