I love them all but drop ins are very useful to us... we use lots of routines that have helped out with our kids and even with our teen... I just love this tech times and the affordability it has now...
Hey Craig. A few things you missed. Timers announcing on other devices after 30 seconds. Ability to see a recipe on the show and send all the ingredients to your shopping list. The remember function is extremely useful. And my personal holy grail: Just discovered that the echo link has had a firmware update this year that now allows you to cast your own music collection (cd/mp3/vinyl) to your everywhere group or other echo groupings.Will confirm this works on your next live stream.
I would like to see a drag and drop feature on the app as it applies to lists. Specifically but not limited to the shopping list. Every time I realize I need something I add it to the list but I am not necessarily getting everything on the list when I go to the store. To relocate things from the list to the top of the list would be very useful. Also I find my phone frequently closes the list and I have to navigate back to it while I’m walking around the store.
Also with regards to the guard mode one of my cats while I was actually home tried to get into the cupboard and knocked a glass out of it. The glass smashed on the counter and I got a text message with a sound clip of the glass breaking. So that worked pretty well.
Hi, Love the videos, Amazing help. I have just bought two Echos 4th gen and paired the speakers, if I add a lightbulb how would I know which of the two hubs it actually installed on. i may have a situation when I need to unplug one so would need to know which one is controlling the lights etc
I had no idea that Alexa can now read my Kindle books that are "non-audio"...thanks Craig for this golden nugget!

I learned that from Craig on a earlier video.
I use Alexa for:
1. schedule/voice control the lights on/off
2. schedule/voice control the curtains open/close
3. voice control the roomba /shark robotic vacuum
4. voice control / schedule the ceiling fan
5. the security camera triggers Echo to turn on the lights or play a soundtrack or says a speech that I created.
6. the clock tells me the time without me needing to ask
7. ask Alexa to set a timer/alarm reminder
8. ask Alexa to unlock my Yale door lock.

Hey Craig, really appreciate your videos.Very well done! I am trying to pair 2 Echo 4th gens to bluetooth on my iPhone X. They are paired in the Alexa app and have a name for the stereo pair. How can I get both of them to pair via bluetooth to get stereo?
Hi Craig, Thanks for all your informative tutorials, I am slowly becoming an avid watcher of your content. I am really curious about something and can't seem to find it on the web. Is it possible to use two echo dot 3rd Gen in stereo pair and then use the Echo 3rd Gen as a 'sub' or would just using it has the right or left speaker to an echo dot. how well does this work with a fire tv stick?
Hi Craig, Great video but I have a question. I just bought five Echo 8 for my new Duplex house and I was looking for an hub. Would you suggest that I get this Echo 4 as an hub? Will the Zigbee have network coverage for a duplex house (2 floors) with multiple walls? Thanks for your response.

We use the echo in the kitchen a lot for timers when cooking. We have the Echo wall clock which makes it much easier to see which timers are running.
We also love the lists feature for adding things to our shopping list, and then when go shopping we have the list on our phone and can tick things off as we put them in the trolley/cart.
Craig, nice video. Just got a couple of new Echos to use with my TV instead of using a sound bar. Still trying to make it work (to have 2 speakers at the same time ). Appreciate if you could help. Thanks
Hi Craig! I've seen several of your videos these last 2 years and they have helped me a lot with my Alexa devices and my smart gadgets at home. I have a question, I hope you can help me: I have a couple of 2-Phillips bulb lamps at home and I have not been able to set them up to turn them on or off, including both their bulbs. I've tried naming the bulbs with the same name or different names and, in my routines, only one of the bulbs is turned on or off. Please advise and keep up the good work, you're amazing!
I have a 2nd gen Show 8. Can I add a Echo 4th gen as a secondary speaker in the same room to enhance the sound for my streaming music from the Show 8?

You know something that would be cool to see is all the 1st gens compared to the newer versions, like echo dot 1st gen compared to 4th gen, etc.

As always a great Vid. I have a samsung J7v phone and up to about 2 weeks ago I would receive a reminder notice to phone after it was announced to my dot and all of a sudden it stopped. If I am away from home I not longer get the notice on my phone of a reminder. Any ideas, I haven't got much from amazon yet. I can get an announcement if I put one in a routine but not from a reminder. TIA help if you can.

Craig thanks for all the great videos. Is there any way to use a small echo show 5 as the webcam/microphone on a PC for meetup or zoom instead of seperate PC web cam?
Unfortunately there is no way to do that. You can use Zoom with an Echo Show 8 or Skype.

Hey Craig. Just changed from 1st gen echo plus to new echo. New one doesn’t see my hive bulbs. Spent hours trying to get working. No t working. Can you advise. Ps love your videos
I just got the new Sensi thermostat and Alexa works super fast and seamless with it.
Also if you have an Xbox you can connect that to your echo device to control it as well like turning it off and on or asking it to open a game or app via voice control! Super cool!

My clear favorite Alexa skill is using the Ford Pass app. Here in finland when it gets really cold sometimes. I just tell Alexa to start my car (Named Henry, as what else you would call a Ford) when we are brushing teeth with my daughter before kindergarten and we can get inside a warm car. Actually this was the sole reason for buying Alexa.
I bought two Echo Gen 4 to use as a stereo pair which I have done. Alexa has now gone super slow when responding to anything. Anyway to sort this out?

I just got an Echo Dot 4th generation, the round one you feature here. I have read that you can get it to tell you the room temperature. I followed the instructions but my dot says it's not supported. I would really like it if I could figure out how to get it to tell me how hot or cold it is in my room.
The echo 4th generation has the temperature sensor. The echo dot does not have it.
Ur videos have been so helpful I do not find the Alexa apk to be as easy to use as it could be when rung more than one device, adding devices can be crazy as well my kids have the eco dots I have the echo gen 4 and my echo show gen 5 and have a hard time getting them to work together soooo frustrating so again thank you for ur time and advice on how to use these things

On the alexa app you can add routines. One can be to set up an alarm. Try that

Can Alexa sync to Microsoft To-Do List?
Games and music: does it play our mp3 files and games instaled? Is there any delay for the later (assuming the answer is yes)? And what about UA-cam videos? Finnaly, does any of the Echos has 3.5 mm jack, or is there any other with one?
Hey Craig. New to the channel and to the Alexa world. I have a question I have my Spotify account linked to my new echo but wen I am away listening on my car or headphones me wife cannot listen music on the echo because she takes away my music. Do you suffer that issue ? Can be fixed ? Thank you

My two favorite things, 1 it alerts me when someone is at the door via the Ring peephole door bell and 2 I also love that it turns on and off my Levoit air purifier and adjusts the settings when asked. Awesome!!! What I don’t know how to do is make it turn off lights in individual rooms just by saying turn off lights. I have to say turn off floor lamp or whatever. We have 3 new echo dots each have a room name and they are Echo, Computer and Alexa but I can’t seem to figure it out. Is there a video for that?

Can you advise with this query? My partner and I have two separate Amazon accounts and spotify accounts. When I am away from home I often play music from my spotify on my phone or laptop however while simultaneously my partner often plays music at home on our echo devices. As both my Amazon account and Spotify account are connected to our home echo devices this means my spotify music stops playing when my partner plays spotify on the echo device. Any solution to ensure we both can use our separate individual Amazon accounts and our separate individual Spotify account on our echos and not cause the issue above?? P.S. Hi from Ireland! 🇮🇪
Thank you very much for the kind words. Unfortunately the only way I know to do it is to setup echos under the two different accounts. Each of you would have to setup separate echos as if you lived in two different houses. Or you could try signing into your partners Spotify account and then at home any request go through your partners account. When you are out of town you use your account. Unfortunately Amazon’s music support for connecting multiple user accounts is nonexistent. I wish I had better answers. Thanks for watching and the support.

We have a stairway light. Everyone walks by the switch down the stairs into the dark. So now there is a smartThings sensor that turns on the light.
It would be nice if you could have calendar reminders across all devices instead of just one at a time.

I tried to set up my reoliink cams to the amazon cube..i got so far and alexa says "this decice is not compatible". Would the echo system work? Do i set this up wirh rhe amazin cube or is it an entirely separate thing?
In order to get any cameras working with the cube, you need to do the whole device setup in the Alexa app. If you are able to link the Reolink Alexa skill, you should be able to then call it up on your echo.
i just bought one to be honest :) cause my memory is totally rubbish and i like music and the reminders and alarms and also the fact you can call another echo in your house especially if you have a teen who constantly has headphones on lol
Craig do you know if I can do this with Alexa When my home phone rings can Alexa mute playing music (This plays through a routine). We run a home business and Alexa plays a radio station starting at 9:00am. My wife would like Alexa to mute if the business phone rings. She would then say unmute once she finishes the call.
Unfortunately there is no way I can think of natively with Alexa. There isn’t enough phone integration with routines. It might be possible if some combination of actions and triggers using IFTTT.
As a possible workaround, Instead of having to say mute or unmute, you could program a supported smart button to trigger a play and pause routine.

Anyone else find the notification light ring really dim on the 4th gen echo? It's really bright when it starts up but then goes really dim. Can't tell when it's activated very clearly.

I am not able to figure something with !Alexa. I have fans in each of my rooms and a separate alexa device for each room. I want to be able to say Alexa turn on the fans and the fans for that particular room should turn on. I can do this with lights as I can designate all my light switches to light. How can I do this for fans or indirect Lights. I have fiddled with grouping but I am not able to figure this out other than naming each group uniquely but it makes it very wordy and not user friendly

Hi, I have an echo in several different rooms in my home. The problem I am encountering is that when I give Alexa a command in the kitchen the Alexa in the office is the one that responds. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks 🙏
I don’t know other than a shift of position with in a room so it doesn’t hear you. It is supposed to be the closest echo to you is the one that responds. Somehow the one In the office is hearing better or is it in a group and set to be the one to respond.

I frequently have to call out two or three times (maybe more) to my echo show 2 While I am close enough to touch it before I get a response. Or I speak to it and get a response from another room.
Blow out dust from the mics and try to make sure you have voice reconition on and it reconizes your voice
@@SpaceStrikeIve tried that but it’s been like that from the beginning. I should’ve sent it back then for a replacement. I’m pretty much stuck with it now. I am reluctant to buy more Echo products. I have this and two echo dots GEN three.

I hope you can assist me. I am trying to setup an Echo Show 8, for my aunt (my mom's twin sister) in Japan. She doesn't speak English. (My dad just received an Echo Show 8, for his birthday.)
Does she have to have someone in Japan, download the Alexa App, in order for her to use it? We have the Wi-Fi name and Password; as my parents go there every year, to vist; but unfortunately due to Covid-19, they were not able to go, this year.
I understand we can register Alexa-to-Alexa; is that an option we can use, for her to make video calls to our Echo Show 8?
The 2nd Echo Show 8, will be registered to my dad, as he has an Amazon account. We will pay for that.
We just want her to be able to call her twin, and see and speak to her. (They turned 84, this year.) This Coronavirus has really been hard on my mom; she doesn't have any friends, they have all passed away.
So, this connection with her sister, is so very important, to both of them.

I have the echo in the same group as the lights but “turn on the lights” is not recognized
Turn on kitchen light... Living room light bedroom light.. Then you add them to a group
@@leeknoz935 I get that I can put lights in a group and then turn on the group by name. Craig made it sound like if the light is already in a group with an Alexa device that “turn on the lights” would work without using the group name.
@@JonathanExcels OK I recently moved so nothing is set up for me now.. But I'm looking.. And it say... Let there be light... Will turn on all the lights.. But you have to enable the routine.
The first time and only time I tried the alarm feature was on the Alexa fire TV cube 2nd gen, set it and the internet had gone down. Due to no internal memory the alarm never went off. I was done with that type of feature from then on. I managed to wake myself that day, it was a disappointment.
That is messed up. I only use my phone and have not experienced that in years. I would not want to use the echo either after your experience. Thanks for watching and sharing. Have a great day
I still can't open an app on my samsung 2020 tv using my echo. I can change the source, but I can't open UA-cam TV with my Amazon echo (not the alexa on the tv; I want to do it with my echo).
Hey does anyone know if it’s possible to change the room allocated to my echo dot? I brought the dot first, set it up in my bedroom, then brought some other echo devices so now I have the original dot in my hallway but I can’t find how to alter it from bedroom............???
Open Alexa app on your phone > select devices > bedroom, and under that name is "edit name"

Whilst messaging have you done a video on getting the best from the WiFi when using multiple of devices? 👍🏼
No I have not done a benefits of WiFi. I like that idea. The question I have is the echo you moved in the Alexa app showing up in a group called bedroom but with a new device name? If that were the case you would edit the group and remove that it echo and save the group. Just to confirm you went through steps in the app to change the device name. Open app- click more tab, then settings, devices settings, select the echo you want to change the name of and click edit under the name at the top of that device. That is how I have renamed mine and then would move them out of groups into different places. Other than that, it doesn’t make sense why you can’t change the name. There is always the fall back default of unplugging it, leaving for 30 seconds and the plugging it back in.

Hello Craig. About Guard alexa can also listen to just sounds. What I'm saying is that not just glass breaking or smoke alarm... We can adjust the sensitivity of the alexa mic so she Will send to app noises that detect as suspect... Send me your email and I will attach some pics

Hey Craig, it really annoys me that there are many functions that are not available outside the USA. A couple of these are in your top 10. Eg although I subscribe to Tidal the skill is only available in the USA. Can’t call cell phones if you are outside the USA....
The only advantage I can see to this is if it would control the thermostat. My husband is a Luddite, so when he turns the A/C up after I've turned it down and vice versa for the furnace, he'd have no clue how to change it back. :-)

Hello, yes you can. You would create a routine under the more tab in the app. You would name the routine. For the when this happens you would pick a time. For the action you can choose from the list of actions that include news and weather. News is national though. You can have it play a local news radio station.

Hey Craig. How can I put several echo in a single routine? I want when a door sensor activates, all echo or 2 of them tell me "the door just opened". Is there a way to do it? Thanks Craig
Did you know that you can connect ROKU televisions to your Echos now? One other thing, if you add 911 to your contacts, you can call it from any of your Echos, great for elderly people who may fall and need to call for help!
I did not know that you could connect Roku televisions to your echoes. I will have to look into that. That is also a great suggestion for 911 calls. Thanks for sharing that.
@@CraigsTechTalk I've fallen!!! Thank God I have an Echo that can call help for me since I don't carry my cell phone around the house. To bad they don't have the Flex anymore which was perfect for bathrooms, which I would guess where most people fall getting in or out of the tub. I really enjoy your vids and email them to my mother inlaw so She can see how to use her gen 4 dots. Keep up the great work. BTW, I only have 10 more single pole and 1 threeway light switch to replace with smart switches and my house will be completely voice activated lighting. One last thing. My step Son got a dot for his Dads house and asked if he could connect to my account since I have Prime. I said yes. Now he can drop in to this house from his bedroom at his Dads and we can drop in on him. Look forward to getting 2 echo shows for when he goes to college this fall.
Also if you have an Xbox you can connect that to your echo device to control it as well like turning it off and on or asking it to open a game or app on it as well! Super cool!
Our Alexa will not for the life of me detect our devices. I have two Amazon Bulbs and a Amazon Plug with a lamp connected. All devices are set up in the Devices APP.
But Alexa when instructed can not still find them. Any ideas ?
Is the devices app connected to your alexa?
Don't have Amazon devices but smartlife devices use the Ewelink app and Tp-Link devices use the Kasa app, both these apps have to be linked into Alexa with your userid/pw so she can control these types of devices. Check for a "Skill" for your device types
