- The exterior of my 2015 WRX needs some love. The first upgrade I wanted to give this car is some LED headlights. Not only are these OLM Hikari headlights a huge aesthetic upgrade, but they are going to provide better light output as well. In addition, I decided to upgrade my front grille to a JDM style grille which will really help to clean up the front end of my WRX.

Love the build so far very cool!
Headlights look sick great addition
Thanks dude! Excited to get some other lighting mods on the car
Yeah wheels and suspension asap
Huge improvements!
Thank you!
That looks so much better!!
Thanks dude, I’m excited to see my new wheels on it. but don’t give away any spoilers 🤫
Hell yeah looks gooood! Cant wait to see the wheels and suspension
I’ll take the hellahorns 👀
Too late 😬
Definitely makes the front end look way cleaner. Looks great. Makes me consider getting that front grille lol.
Japanese market gets all the cool stuff 😤
You guys have the best looking and well stocked shop I have ever seen. A great video brother. Subies forever.
Stocked? Are you sure? Seems as if most of the posts are out of stock. It could be popularity or slow arrivals...either way, "out of stock" seems to the site motto.
Unfortunately I have no control over what’s in stock at SubiSpeed. Like most
companies, it has been a hard year due to supply chain issues 🤷♂️
@@FosterJohnsonMedia Oh I know. I just meant the shop looks very clean and professional you know. You guys have that shop organized and clean. Oh yeah. Subies forever guys and gals.
I can’t wait for your next mod..one of My favorites mods🔥🔥
Same! Wheels and suspension are usually the first thing I do when I buy a car but this one needed some other upgrades first
@@FosterJohnsonMedia definitely need a lot.You will go there eventually…I’ll be following since mine is a daily drive as well
Underrated Headlights
I agree you don’t see very many builds with Hikari headlights. Let’s change that!
Heck ya brother! Looking good 🤙👊
Thanks dude! We are going to do big things to this WRX
@@FosterJohnsonMedia , can't wait 🙌
We can see the vision coming together.🧐 Dont worry, well let ourselves out the door.
Wouldn’t be possible without you 🙌
It looks a whole lot better brother.
Glad you like the new look! I’m excited for the next couple mods they will really transform the car 🤙
@@FosterJohnsonMedia I can't wait man. Subies forever.
Looks like a great upgrade! The C-light is really clean, would have liked to see some lowbeam/highbeam action just to see how they look. I still have oem 2015 headlights and taillights on mine... these are tempting!
I forgot to show it but these have a cool startup feature and they can be setup for sequential as well! Pretty great bang for your buck
the c light in the OLM hikari headlights is NOT the daytime running light. it's the same running light as stock.
Pleaseeee dooo wheels next I can’t stand them anymore hahahah
Oh yeah they are going soon for sure 😂
...if nothing else, strip/blast and redo in wrc gold.
Well, hello there! Nice lights!
First!!
Looking good. Maybe some light output shots against a wall/road to see what that might look like. I wonder if these headlights offer that nice cutoff compared to projector headlights. Can’t wait to see more of the build.
Cutoff is pretty crisp on these, sorry I forgot to film that!
Anything is better than the stock headlights but those are just too similar to them for me (minus the LED vs halogen) Grill looks way better now. Loving the WRX build content keep it coming!
If the stock headlights weren’t already modded I think the contrast would have been better 🤔
Much nicer!!
Looooove these headlights! I can’t wait to see the wheels you put on this car! Do you plan on wrapping the car or just repainting the front bumper?
I want to get a couple items repainted to make the whole car match then I will probably rock the silver for a while and then wrap it eventually if I get bored
Imo you should’ve done 18+ front end swap and some subi speed head lights
That’s fair! I do like the look of the facelift front end with some SubiSpeed headlights 🤤
@@FosterJohnsonMedia still clean though can’t wait to see what the end result looks like 😮💨
Yooooo I fixed mine!
How did you do it? 🤔
@@FosterJohnsonMedia it was exactly as I thought. The DRL resistor was still plugged in and it just needed to be unplugged.
Easy fix! Awesome 😎
Subaru 2018+ facelift
Might do that down the road, we will see!
Can you please share a link to the grille?
I have the hikari I love em where did you get the grill I’ve been tryna get it and it’s sold out everywhere
I got the JDM front grill from SubiSpeed, but it was a while ago when it was in stock. I know you can order them from Japan as well but it is a long wait unfortunately
Those OLM Hikaris look 🔥
Prefer a clean retrofit set of lights but those are definitely better than fogged up factory lights 😅
I like these OLM lights because they have that OEM + look to them
@@FosterJohnsonMedia as long as you like them, that's all that matters ✌
Can you show how to properly tighten e brake?
Lucky for you my ebrake cable is broken so I’ll have to address that in an upcoming video!
A cheaper alternative I did. Just switch out the drl, headlight, and c light bulbs to LEDs. Comes with transformers, etc. $175 for both sides, complete!!
Not a bad idea if you are on a budget. Keep up the good work 🤙
There's no way a LED bulb will correctly focus in the stock halogen projectors.
@@pogtuber5146 did it on my car, and several friends cars. Bulbs are bulbs. 10 min. Do yer research friend
@@bradgreen987 I did my research and LED lights can't become a pinpoint of light to provide the proper projection. Bulbs are not bulbs.
@@pogtuber5146 have done everybody's reverse bulbs, too. No issues. Another 15 min. Same as front, just no transformers. Child's play
why the red wheelees!?
I’ve recently bought a 2018 front bumper for my 2017 wrx and now I don’t have turn signals for the front. These headlights will make me be able to use my front turn signals again right?
You would want a full sequential headlight like the SubiSpeed V1 or V2 headlights. Then you won’t need your bezels to have turn signals
@@FosterJohnsonMedia Awe dang it! I really liked these.
Buying VLANDS version with the sequential turn signals should allow me to use the turn signals on the headlights correct? I believe they’re almost the same.
@@IQIcon that should work
How are the headlights legal if they use a led bulb(s)? Remove the (red) flaps; they really detract from the clean look...or change them to black.
LEDs themselves are not illegal, the main reason they get a bad rep is because LED bulbs in stock headlight housings gives way to bright of light output without proper cutoff like projector headlights. Since these have been designed as an LED headlight from the ground up the reflectors in the housings are setup properly so they are good to go!
Whats the best daily coilover for 08-14 wrx? TIA
Depends on your priorities - comfort? Budget? there are a lot of options
So you got rid of the projector style light? Why
The lights that came with the car weren’t actually projectors they were just the stock reflector housings with LED bulbs. Switching to SubiSpeed headlights would be projectors or you can retrofit your stock housings for them but the main reason why I wanted to switch was the bad seals. So much better now I can actually wash my car without issues!
I need some help.
I have the exact same headlights and for some reason the headlights are always running a long with the drls and idk why. I want just the drls to run during the day time but I have no idea how to fix that. Some advice would be greatly appreciated.
Did you do anything to the wiring or is that how they came?
@@FosterJohnsonMedia well it's a long story. At first when I installed them I had my electrician friend help me with the wiring and it all worked as it should have. Then a long time later which is more recent to the present time, someone backed into my car so I had it taken care of at a body shop and after that the whole system was not working correctly.
The impact to my car was on the passenger door in the front so it had nothing to do with how my headlights function. I just think the people at the shop messed something up when they had to take the front end off to paint match it.
@@FosterJohnsonMedia so after some research I think I may need to disconnect the DRL resistor on the passenger side in the front bumper. It's possible the guys at the shop reconnected that when they put my car back together.
In the actual instructions it says the resistor needs to be disconnected or both the headlights and DRLs will both be on during the day. Hopefully my assessment is correct.
18+ bumper upgrade 😅
Thinking about it 🤔
are the hikari lights sequential and plug and play at all?
They are plug and play, which is how I installed them for now. They can be setup as sequential if you tap into your blinker which I plan on doing down the road 😁
