Its to show the abilities of the technology. Also, the genre is called fiction, therefore, giving the creator of the said world the ability to break all the rules of the known world
@@ethan-hv5by I love science fiction but it doesn't excuse bad engineering. If the animator wanted to show ANY movement then he could have used the example of the U-boat diesel engine where you see the headers and valve rods exposed. I have seen GOOD animation with piston engine aircraft in a science fiction film where it was showing the burn off of the unburned fuel just like a real plane has.
@@ethan-hv5by Just because it's fiction doesn't give the right to "break rules." Producers will hire engineers to make sure everything is realistic. For example, pixar hired a scientist to help design the air conditioning wall the separated the snow biome and the desert biome. Breaking rules in a fiction just ruins it
The brief time we get to see the engine does not tell much, but it seems as though there is the high probability it could be an Opposed Piston engine (yes those are real) of some sort and you are not seeing the Piston head, but that is merely a guess. Take a look here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opposed-piston_engine and note the animated diagram at the top. looks a lot like the engine shown in the plane.
@@nuttynuts4601 Really? Have you watched any Transformers? The Cartoons? The Movies? Please explain show ANY of that works? A giant robot that transforms into a car, that cannot be distinguished from the car it copied, is not realist on any level. How about Star Trek? How about Star Wars? Ships that can travel great distances using Warp drive or Hyper drive. Where are the rules there? Yeah they broke a shit ton of rules. You put too much reality into something like this it stops being fun and exciting or even interesting. It is just a CGI Video.
interesting...finally a short war video worth watching, i like how they used the base model of an american B-25 for the bomber and a german 109 for the fighter working together, .. and you know a seasoned fighter pilot would know not to be that close.. parts could come off the plane he is shooting down that will take him down, good film.. but a real veteran pilot would know not to be that close... i'd like to see more of this story.. also it was the left engine that was shoot up on the bomber, why is it near the end it was fine but the right engine was on fire?
maybe so but very few got that close, ... reason for that is they could keep flying and shoot down more planes... instead of crash their own plane to get one plane
Amazing work! Animation, sounds, effects, the story. If I were to nitpick, i would only point out that in that POV shot from inside the cockpit there is no aiming reticle, and it should be there. But that's nitpicking :) Other than that, 10/10.
An alternate universe. I like it, it emphasizes the old saying, “In war, there are no good or bad guys. Only winners and losers.” Meaning, the winners write history and the losers don’t. If the Nazis had won, they would be labeled the good guys in history and the allies as bad guys.

@@ToggBott lmao good and bad is not at all easily defined, do you think people labeled as bad in mass-history wanted to be remembered as being bad? Many millions wanted to be remembered as good heroes as much as the opposite faction. What is the right and how do you stop an ideology of an entire population without going off your way? It is not a question of "killing is bad" or "stealing is bad". You should elevate the question from a more mature perspective sir.
Moral relativism is for those that don't want to think.
I'm digging the aircraft designs, I'm a fan of twin tails and shoulder-wing configurations
If the Crimson Skies timeline was moved along about 10-15 years...
Wouldn't you like to see an entire feature movie about this...with these awesome graphics...or leading up to this!? I would!
this has to be real life, jesus is ths cgi amazing!
I Like how the fighters still somewhat resmble the real life models Bf109 and hurricane
Am i the only one who thought the dude in the cockpit was CGI until he removed his mask. Very well done.
The design of the planes is awsome, well done.
The entire time i was wondering why the aircraft's wings are angled so much.
then i realized that this is genius...only the most elite of pilots wont crash and burn.
A little bit of anhedral really helps quicken up the handling ;-)
Excellent storyline and graphics keep up the good worl
That was a great short! I sure as hell didn't expect the blindside ending.
Great action and vfx ,cgi editing and aerial cinematography! Would love to see a full movie!
Stumbled onto this early 2014. Re-watched numerous times! Easily within my top 5 animated shorts.
Yep, This is good, I never even noticed how old until I saw the age! 9 years! - wow.
the plane design is amazing. the blocky canopy design of the bomber indicated german engineering. ww2 germany loved there blocky canopies
02:25 Engine 1 is hit and smoking. 02:47 Engine 2 is smoking and engine 1 is working. Besides that, I love the remix of the old bomber and warplanes. Really cool aspect and overall video.
😂 may be these CGI guys work on shifts.
that was beautiful man, dogfight scenes always take a hold on me. Broke my heart to see the other guy crash. Just beautiful, loved it!
I love those plane desings and i like that kind of retrofuturistic style
One of the few times UA-cam recommendations got it right. That was great. Subbed.....

I don't get why animators have to show the piston heads. Don't they know how engines even work?!
Love the retro futuristic dieselpunk design.
Cockpits were huge and the planes had more drag than a RuPaul race. Thanks and good luck with the next one.
Pilot: Calling mission control, what are we going to do?
Mission control: The same what every night, pilot, try to take over the world!
Pinky and the Brain... That was subtle bro😁
@@chetanshah5672 Thanks bro 😁

The best short film i ever watch
Extremely well done! Loved the "Twilight Zone" twist!
I wish those planes really existed they looked so cool
Not so aerodynamic so may unstable in flight but cool Notheles
I really love those stylized aircraft designs.
I fucking love this it’s like an alternate reality
Better CGI than the 1 billion dollar Rings Of Power disaster
interesting...finally a short war video worth watching, i like how they used the base model of an american B-25 for the bomber and a german 109 for the fighter working together,
.. and you know a seasoned fighter pilot would know not to be that close.. parts could come off the plane he is shooting down that will take him down, good film.. but a real veteran pilot would know not to be that close... i'd like to see more of this story..
also it was the left engine that was shoot up on the bomber, why is it near the end it was fine but the right engine was on fire?
Erich Hartmann's kills were scores only when he came very close to his prey, he even crashed many times.
maybe so but very few got that close, ... reason for that is they could keep flying and shoot down more planes... instead of crash their own plane to get one plane
Muncheberg died that way when a P-38 blew up on his face.
trauko1388 when predator becomes prey
Artic War No, rather when a predator chokes on the bones of its prey...
this is proof that in war, there is no "good" or "bad", there are only sides. and only the winner gets to pick who was the 'good' one.
Very interesting. Lovely designs, I'd be very curious to see more in this world's design and story!
I have seen this video before, had no problem seeing it again. Great video, well done.
Combat Flight Simulator 3 machingun sounds??? great work..!!!!
I do like the twist that the "bad guy" in this won
That plane looks like it won't pass air tunnel test
Tres bien !! Fantastic!! Great cgi , cool conceptually , merci .
WOW! Very impressive. I'd love to see more of this story and what happened in the 90 years. Very well done!
Альтернативная история в которой немцы успели изготовить атомную бомбу и это изменило ход истории.
Amazing movie, only problem I have with it is that in the allied fighter's view at 2:17, you can't see any kind of sight.
There is a gun sight, if you look closely, it’s just way to sloped downward
I love these CGI aircraft, they look somewhat viable
Excellent work bro
Amazing work! Animation, sounds, effects, the story. If I were to nitpick, i would only point out that in that POV shot from inside the cockpit there is no aiming reticle, and it should be there. But that's nitpicking :) Other than that, 10/10.

9 years old and it looks better than anything Disney-Marvel is pushing out!
Wolfenstein meets ace combat
I love the little hints like how Germany is directly to the east of France and how the plane has yellow rims on its engines
The aircraft designs look really cool, kind of have a futuristic/steampunk vibe.
The argument is so good, the whole short is great!
amazing graphic!!!! seriously
It's all about the perspective. All sides of the war saw themselves as heroes fighting supposedly evil enemy.
An alternate universe. I like it, it emphasizes the old saying, “In war, there are no good or bad guys. Only winners and losers.” Meaning, the winners write history and the losers don’t. If the Nazis had won, they would be labeled the good guys in history and the allies as bad guys.
this is hard to take seriously lmfao, nice job with the visuals
that medium bomber looks like b25 and the other one, fighter looks like bf109
Hm. I think it's more a take on the spitfire because of the intakes on the wings but I think it's up to what the viewer perceives :D
Bomber definitely a Mitchell though.
Merf Avenger the 109 has intakes on both wings, the spit only has an intake on one wing for the early models.
It looks like a 109 crossed with a Corsair.
The gull wings give it a bit of a He 112 look
Maybe it's a later model? I think it's inspired by a lot of things. Although now that I think, the angular cockpit is more 109-ish.
Loved the CGI work great effect.
