Cindy's out here trying to trick us, but you know she's staying on brand. We've got fairies, wild sex scenes, and yearning. She thought we wouldn't notice if it wasn't all in one book. But we see you queen. You know your audience.
While I find you roasting problematic books fun, I really enjoy watching you gush and love over a new book you’ve read, makes me excited to read it myself!
Olivia Atwater’s third book, Longshadow, is a direct sequel to Half a Soul (but the focus is on a different character) and is an absolute favorite of mine. You have the same cozy vibe, but this time there’s a queer love story wrapped up in navigating fae-related mysteries and again saying eat the rich
@@attackratit's fine to read it without reading Half a Soul! The author does give you a recap of the Longshadow main character's background with the first book's characters. I read it like a year later and the first book wasn't super fresh for me but it worked!
The Encyclopedia of Fairies is SO GOOD I enjoyed it so much so I'm glad you liked it too! The main couple are so cute and I loved Emily since the author did a great job illustrating her voice and personality. She's a great flawed protagonist.
I rly liked how she was very aware that her motivation to save ppl was primarily for scientific exploration, not just out of the goodness of her heart, and Wendell was like "so? Ur a better person than me"
oooh the fairy encyclopedia sounds interesting! I would probably like it because I have the spiderwick book thats filled with encyclopedia+notes of fairies and creatures (which of course helps cause of the the beautiful imagery)
I'm also LOVING cozy fantasies lately. My favourite by far this year was The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison. If you can get past the fantasy names that I cannot for the life of me pronounce in the first 25% of the book, you'll get an experienced close as you can get to hot chocolate loaded with marshmallow but on paper and ink. It's really quite lovely. Also, I'm pretty sure my crippling rofan manhwa addiction is mostly responsible for my shift from exclusively epic fantasy; I eat that shit up like pringles.
I paused the video, immediately downloaded Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia, and finished reading it within two evenings. Thank you, Cindy; it would have taken me a while to stumble across this gem otherwise!
I paused their video at the Emily Wilde section 8 months and JUST came back after finishing the book. I loved it so much! Can't wait to get the next one from the library
aah i’m glad you liked Emily Wilde!! i was so excited when i heard about it bc i had just finished The Cruel Prince and was desperate for another faerie book, couldn’t believe how perfect it was
I don't think I've fallen in love with a book as quickly as I did Emily Wilde. While I normally rarely re-read books, I've actually read it 5x this year, and an ARC of the sequel. I love it so much! ♥ I found Emily's autism rep super relatable and Bambleby being grump x sunshine all on his own, while also constantly showing that he's aware of all her quirks and only loves her more for them... probably the most relatable and enviable romance I've read. 🧑🍳💋 I could read ten more books of them at least
As someone that couldn't read Ali Hazelwood'sworks due to one of them having GALAXY LEGGINGS, it's good to see that she's consistent with writing big hunky men. She's writing what she likes AND is getting that bag, like girlbosss

I love Half a soul. I read it, because it was compared to Howl's moving castle and I agree it's not that similar, aside from the fairy talish vibes. I absolutely loved it, I think the setting, the themes and the characters were really nice to read.
