Been watching a few different videos to try and learn this game, but I really appreciate this one. The pace of the video, clarity of instructions, and camera angle (I can actually read the text!) are spot on.
Even with your mistakes - this is the best solo play video review like all your others. I wish the paper had some highlighting around License items that trigger things like coins or boat things - just so they stand out more.
This was really awesome. I loved the original game and the Arctic Bounty expansion as well. That's an amazing role and write. Incredible amount of depth. Great solo play through. Truly well done.
I agree with the others; this was far better than the other solo how-to videos, for this game. And again, I love your dice tower and tray combo, please tell me where to get them.
This game looks so satisfying! I want to buy it now - that means you did a great job with your video! Though I did notice one thing while reading the rules on BGG just now - at 21:48, it looks like you moved Ruth's token to Cod but all of the Cod boxes were filled. The rules say Ruth skips any sections where all of the boxes are filled.
You didn’t count the “Inuit boat”, I’m not sure if you were supposed to, but that would have brought you to 85 points! Love this game, but it gets tough to remember to collect l the bonuses that are triggered in the chain reactions. Great review!
in a few of the games, i drop the ultra particulars about the captain's movement; its blocking ability is 90% of the fun and only 10% of the effort to use the AI.
Hello Liz, I just got this game. I don't know when they issued it, but I also got a nifty Fleet TDG dice tower! It doesn't take much to make me happy eh?
I just got the game and my sheet #1 is different than yours. My lobster licenses are different than yours. Did they change the sheets? My licenses just show 1 coin for #1, 2 coins for #2, and 3 for #3. Does not have a boat stipulation.
I almost certainly blipped over it because I can't talk and play at the same time. In my review of this game, my biggest complaint is that it's easy to skip things.
I actually downloaded the app recently (it was $4.99 I think) and it keeps me on rails. (But definitely read the paper rules because the app keeps you from breaking rules, but also doesn't teach them super accessibly.)
I actually really recommend getting one! (Of course, I am a teacher so I use mine ALL the time.) You can get a personal laminator on Amazon for $20-30, I think.
I'm not seeing it on any of the usual sites like MM or CoolStuff, but Eagle-Gryphon does seem to be selling it direct! www.eaglegames.net/product-p/102181.htm
Thanks for the playthrough! I think in the last 2 turns you only crossed off one space for Ruth's selections instead of 2. Don't think it would've made a difference though :)
Yeah, on the 7th turn I must have just not thought about it in the moment because she'd already destroyed the last boat! On turn 8, though, Ruth had to take a coin die as a wild, and she only crosses off a single space when she does that.
Beyond Solitaire That’s what make this such a good game. (It’s my only roll and write, so never get when people say that there’s to many). Anyhow because there so many little things to keep your eye on and all the things can link, this also means there’s no bad ideas.
I have one question for the solo player wharf exception rule. Where it says you can still complete a building as long as all the boxes are not checked off by Ruth. But, I know you can’t claim a box that’s been checked off by Ruth. So, how do you claim the remaining crossed off boxes to complete a building given this rule?
By the way I am about to throw this game in the blender. I already had cod. She already has shrimp and the only option is lobster. So how the hell does that work?? There is NOTHING in the directions or your video that covers this. Your video is good but it does not help as you do not show how to play all the options. Like what happens if your first round you get shrimp? She already has that so you get nothing!

Good job! Thanks for doing this explanation and play through. Recently, I obtained this game.
Thanks, Liz. Like Fleet the card game this is one I'll probably be playing solo.

This has fast become a favorite solo filler. Easy to set up and execute. Thanks for the vid Liz!
Thanks for watching!
Played this for the first time today solo. Gives me a Ganz Schon Clever feel.
Thanks for this ‘how to’. It really helped me.
I agree with the others; this was far better than the other solo how-to videos, for this game. And again, I love your dice tower and tray combo, please tell me where to get them.
Helpful review. Played my first solo and ended up a Greenhorn. Hopefully will do better next time. There will definitely be a next time.
Just got the game and this was a great solo playthrough!
i know this is an old video but thank you. taught me how to play.
It's not too old if people are still playing the game! :D

What a neat R&W.
Merci :)

Fair enough. I figure if I always have her do the most annoying thing possible, I'm always right. :P
great playthrough
Have you tried the app yet?
I will now :) Loved my first plays@@BeyondSolitaire

It’s the small things!
I love your dice tower and connected tray. Will you please give me information on where to get them? Thank you.
It's from Wyrmwood!
2:37 what happens if all dice are creatures? I got Cod by the way. The written directions are confusing. I think it is the way they word it.

I am not sure why our sheets are different. I know that they did a reprint so you may just have a newer edition of the game.
I just purchased the game and mine also only has 1 coin for #1 🤷🏽♀️
Great video!
why did you not use the star for the first licens ? or did I miss it ?

@@BeyondSolitaire thanks for the reply, I got the game last week so trying get a grip on it and learn thrue youtube :)

Love this game. I just don’t have a laminater.

At 3:27, I don't understand why Ruth crosses off shrimp.
I played this game over a year ago, and honestly don't remember. Sorry!
Geoffrey Hawley the shrimp is crossed off because the 3 coins die for Ruth is classed as a wild and uses it on the current fish.
This looks complicated and easy to make mistakes. Is the rulebook huge and is it easy to follow?
The rulebook is small but a bit quirky. Expect to make mistakes your first few plays. It's still fun, though!
Thanks for the playthrough! I think in the last 2 turns you only crossed off one space for Ruth's selections instead of 2. Don't think it would've made a difference though :)

10:02 Shouldn’t of you got a coin for the Cod then you launched the Shrimp boat?
Yup. This is the NUMBER ONE thing I forget to do when playing this. There are definitely a couple of notes on that sprinkled throughout.
