I moved to a bigger box over 20 years ago. It is still an ever evolving challenge to optimize tool organization. For racks and holders I prefer not to spend much, the needs are ever changing.
I use Hall wrench racks, they can be bought in various configurations and sizes and they helped me condense three drawers of wrenches down to two. The Westling Machine socket organizers are incredible, I would repurchase them without a doubt.
Storage / organization is an ongoing process. Every time you buy or add something it k8nda snowballs the whole layout. Only you know which tools you use most and what's most convenient for you. Overall a great video.
I like the Ernst rail-type wrench organizers from amazon. They're not made to be used with liners and you need about a 2" drawer for a 24mm set but they nailed the angles and dimensions of the seats so I'm willing to modify them.
You really need wrench rails. Snapon kra15a are probably the best with OEM's version a close second. However, your drawer may be too shallow to stand the larger sizes on their edge. Good Luck. You should also rotate your socket holders 90 degrees so, your sockets run smaller to larger from front to rear, makes getting the right size socket faster.
Nice vid man. I just got back from buying more wrenches (don't ever seem to have the one I need) and my drawers are/were like yours. I like the holders even though it has a big footprint. It's still more efficient.
That is what I like about you. Social media has not gone to your head, you really like different ideas, you admit there are better ways, and always ready to learn. A lot of fun to watch and see others thoughts. Thank you. Say quick idea off subject, could you give us an update on your shop cabinets and storage? S
I’m getting ready to purchase, are they holding up, do you wish you had waited or saved just a bit and got something else, how does it stack up against your “buddies “? Have you been able to easily add on, or subtract, well and wiring, easy to work with, access of power outlets, well and lighting. Yeah, so how shop cabinets working. Some have the tool boxes that role out of cabinet space that is what I’m looking at. I’m do it yourself guy, not a 10th of what you have, well and use. Thank you. Scott
I bought the ernst wrench holder for my main combination wrench set in each of my sae and metric drawers. I made some more compact holders out of 12ga solid wire for stubby's, ratchet wrenches and line wrenches. And then everything else just gets piled in the remaining space. I did my socket drawer using Ernst rails and their 3 compartment organizer for extensions and go to ratchets.
The Ernst wrench organizers are the best. They are strong and sturdy. They come in 5 different colors, they hold 40 wrenches and the price is resealable.
A lot of wrench holders save space at the cost of not being able to see the sizes at a glance. The better ones in my opinion sacrifice some space efficiency for an angle enough to see the size. You have a bolt you'll need to remove and are searching for what will fit it. You don't usually know or care the exact size so labels aren't as helpful. Toolbox widget offers both the tight and the angled options. They look good (thanks for the tip Dealswith Dillin).
I know this is an old video but 3D print something. I made a modular magnet system similar to toolbox widget for a fraction of the price. Works great for wrenches, screw drivers, nut drivers and other hand tools.
Matco toolgrid. I just bought some its not cheap but its like lego for your toolbox organization. There are socket holder wrench holders plier holder ratchet and extension holders and screwdriver holders
WorkshopAddict just finished my top drawer with that system! Totally customizable! Best part, it changes as your needs change! You can buy more pieces as you go!
I think the biggest mistake is to arrange tools by tool type, not by work type. This type of error is very common, I can understand tool suppliers, they need to sell complete set, but I can not understand custom boxes. You need 10 mm wrench close to 10 mm socket, you will probably need both, you try one and use another.. you will never use standard and metric at the same time. (same apply for sockets). You almost never need 27 and 10 mm sockets at the same time.
You should try gearwrench trap matts for your wrench organizer they work pretty well for my wrenches, but hay that's just my opinion. But overall cool review. 😊👍
You did get that Milwaukee tool cart I was going to buy it then the price was jacked up to $488 which I think is ridiculous I had to wait to talk my self into it at $398 which I thought was high waiting for the review of the cart
What I don't like about the plastic socket organizers is that left to right as normal people read and count, they go from large to small. For over 40 years I had my metal organizer rail that went from 5/16 to 1 inch and 10mm to 19mm Small to large. Now I need to be counter-intuitive and go the opposite way.
The biggest mistake you made is that (in mixed drawers) the standard always goes on the right. And for the drawers where you separate the two, standard is the top drawer. Just saying.😁
Hey Brian. Take a look at my channel for a video I made regarding a wrench organizer that I made to address the same issue. It's essentially made from plywood and dowels. It stacks the wrenches on the edge and saves a lot of space and is very customizable based on your needs. Very Easy to make
I don't have that problem: 100% metric :-D Though my latest car has imperial fasteners on it despite being European, it's just that damn old. Oops. I have a 1/4 impact master set with 50% imperial which will have to do for a while :-)
That's the way I have my wrenches now. Metric in one and SAE in the other drawer laying flat but I mean like buying nice socket trays, wrench racks, and plier racks to keep them from moving around. Maybe one day lol
Aw hell its the ultimate most best ultra super #1 best space saving most organized awesomest way to store wrenches.. lol.. much rather see a solution than an overly enthusiastic dude or foreign nonsense hobblibg together some dixie cups and hot glue .
Not dogging on you.. enjoyed the video, tired of all the bullshit youre beginning to have to sift through to find a decent video your looking for thats in english like the title is.. lolzz

I would not be able to see the labels if the go that way.... But I know what you are saying.

Toolbox widget is the best for organizing wrenches. I have done A LOT of research and they seem to be the best solution out there
Thanks Bud!

Thanks Scott. What would you want to know about them? Just how they look after being used... any issues and such?

You are right, WESTLING socket organizers are by far and away the best in the business! I have some and will order more in the future.

Eva foam block. Cut slots. Wrenches store vertical. Takes up less space than racks

ToolBox Widget is what you need......
👍
Same here. I have all metric wrenches in one drawer and all SAE in a second drawer.
Matco toolgrid. I just bought some its not cheap but its like lego for your toolbox organization. There are socket holder wrench holders plier holder ratchet and extension holders and screwdriver holders
Will check that out!
WorkshopAddict just finished my top drawer with that system! Totally customizable! Best part, it changes as your needs change! You can buy more pieces as you go!
That's what I need!
WorkshopAddict Mantis Canada has a website for them, but they only distribute them through the Matco website or truck.

I used to use halls wrench racks until I sucked it up and bought Toolbox Widgets vertical wrench organizers. Best decision ever.
10-12 gauge solid wire makes everything really tight and saves a ton of space and wire is cheap.
What about screwdriver organizing? A whole lot of different challenges there. I am trying to find or make one that is coherent in terms of use!
I’m just happy to get my tools off the garage floor.
You should try gearwrench trap matts for your wrench organizer they work pretty well for my wrenches, but hay that's just my opinion. But overall cool review. 😊👍

I am thinking of reviewing it.... But sort of scared to. I have a lot to say about it that some wont like. Go look at Sunex or Husky for 159....
ToolBox Widget is the way to go.
Check out toolbox widget. I was able to put all of my wrenches in the long middel drawer on my husky 52in took chest.
Will do, Thanks!
Best Option is cut foam for them and stack them 3 high same size the ratcheting and non and stubby.
Check out the ez red 24 wrench holder (it’s magnetic too)
Yes good evening? I need your services please help me to know your really price of your wrenches Toolbox

Too bad that they don't put the lettering on both sides
Best wrench organizer, toolboxwidget

P0tat07 I was wondering about that. I do recall position is important. What is your source for that information? Thank you in advance. S
Scott Moore sorry bud, I was making a joke.🙂
If my tools were spread out like that , I'd need 2 more cabinets!

PS you have a LOT of wrenches, sockets, etc - I have maybe 1/4 and it does almost everything I need, you're fully spoiled! :-D
Wrenches can be a pain to organize
Tool box widget...
I really want to get my toolbox nice and organized like that but honestly I would rather spend the $150 on more tools instead... I have issues... lol
You don't need to spend money to organize. Look at my stuff just sitting flat.
That's the way I have my wrenches now. Metric in one and SAE in the other drawer laying flat but I mean like buying nice socket trays, wrench racks, and plier racks to keep them from moving around. Maybe one day lol
In my experience, narrow drawers are hard to utilize.
Kizan foam hommie
Not a fan of it for wrenches. I want them on an angle
OEMtools 22217. Probably will work for your collection... Cheap too.
Shadow foam
Final result looks a ton better on the wrenches
Aw hell its the ultimate most best ultra super #1 best space saving most organized awesomest way to store wrenches.. lol.. much rather see a solution than an overly enthusiastic dude or foreign nonsense hobblibg together some dixie cups and hot glue .

Ocd
A rookie mistake
Probably.....
Lmfaooo, its a drawer, organise it however you like but there are no rights or wrongs.
