I was going to get this gimbal, but after watching this review, not now! Thanks for being so honest! Btw. I just shot & edited my first wedding & used your “who is Matt” luts & they worked out great. Super happy with them! 🥰😀👍
Bro, You could charge the gimbal and still use it. This dude mis informed you and did a disservice to you.
The Vu shout out is awesome, thank you for that. His work and videos are fantastic.
I bought this gimbal for a couple of reasons, the extra handle in the middle and the fact that you can turn in to portrait mode which I needed for work purposes. The extra handle in the middle was also a plus and that it can handle more weight. I shot a music video 5 hours worth and battery was at 57% and this it with me leaving it on the whole time so yes I think for weddings and all day use you're gonna need to charge it. Great review , I'm still happy with this gimbal overall
recently bought it, going to test it soon on a few music videos, main purpose i got it for. had the weebill s but since it was so fragile made me skeptic, i feel faith in this one due to durability. battery wise, knowing it may run out i love the option to charge as you go. cant wait to try it out with with a battery bank to see if it was worth the buy. lets hope.
Just bought one myself and I love it!
Me too.
I appreciate the quick conclusion!
I strongly suggest you get dji rs2 it is just great. I have the dji rs2 and zhiyun crane lab 3 I like both of them but rs2 is really compact, well built and easy to use I always ended up using it except when I wanted to use a larger rig then I reach for the zhiyun crane lab 3
Thanks for giving us the verdict up front. Much respect for your opinions.
You're content is going to be a huge help for me in making content and getting to know what from what I'm 15 so now I just gotta come up with money
Hey Matt. i just bought the Weebill 2 and im having a hard time charging it within 1.5 hours. i bought a anker IQ 24w charger but it is still not as fast as you said it would charge. I was looking for. PD charger online but couldnt find one for usb to type c. what charging block are you using?
Thank you for taking the time to do this review! I can now continue to sleep comfortably with my Crane 2... No, not literally... I sleep comfortably in my bed, while the Crane 2 is in it's case on my gear shelf.
My weebill 2 arrived to day and I wanted to try it out on a wedding on saturday. I usually film all day long on a gimbal, so good to know that the battery is even worse than expected. I will definetly bring my weebill s as well.. thanks for the review :) you might've saved my upcoming wedding day. :D
Right, going to have to bring a 20k mah battery bank to charge it lol
Might be able to mount and use a power junk with a npf battery 🔋 with a USB to DC cable if it has a port . If not just a USB a to c to charge it up when hanging out.
How did it fair ? My weebill s finally failed. Reviewing the 2 again lol
jeez and i was about to get one today for my wedding gig this weekend
I almost switch from RS2 to this Gimbal... The monitor screen almost got me! But after reviewing the battery life and where the focus dial is place on Weebill 2, I conclude that it's not ideal for me as a wedding filmmaker who shoot events whole day. However, I'm sure it would be ideal for others.
Thanks for the video, you were the first honest content creator to talk about the bad idea that is internal battery, I'm exhausted from filmakers treating this clear involution as if it were an advantage.
I found Weebil 2 a complete disappointment compared to its predecessor, including by design, the position of the focus whell is terrible for those who use a manual lens, forcing you to use one hand only for that, instead of just the thumb as it was before, but really the fact that the battery, in addition to being internal, lasts less than the Weebil S, for me killed the project.
I stopped watching as soon as I heard internal batteries, feels like they shot themselves in the foot with that one smh. (I finished watching though to give you the view, thanks for the review!)
It's so odd, because the RSC2 has internal battery - but it can last like 3 full shoots before I need to think about recharging it .
I've never seen internal battery as a detrimental feature (on my gimbal) since it's able to last so long.
Meh, we use Weebill 2 gimbals for a ton of shoots. Weddings are no problem. Our shooters NEVER leave the gimbal on all day so it's silly to assume most would not be able to get 9 hrs. When the payload is balanced properly and motor settings adjusted the battery life should not be an issue. Weddings are not 9hrs long. At most we capture about 4.5-5 hrs of footage for any wedding and reception.
We have shot music videos and commercials that have taken all day long on one battery. The main thing is setting the motor power as needed for the shoot. If you do NOT use the display then you can save another hr by flipping it in.
We use the display feature of the motors since it indicates which axis are being taxed more by the physical motion of the shooter. That display has helped every one of our video guys at our company to become better shooters since they can visually see what movements they make that are pushing motors. Weebill 2 produced far better smoothness than our RSC2's. The weight isn't much of an issue since it's lighter than most other gimbals we used.
Great review, much more in love with my FeiyuTech gimble for all its glory.
Thanks! :)
You can run it from an external battery pack if needed. I know this may not be ideal but is a great fall back.
Ignoring the inconvenience of carrying even more weight to solve this design flaw, the manual itself informs that it uses 3 18650 batteries inside it, what will happen when within 2 or 3 years they wear out? In Weebil S we could just change them, and in Weebil 2? Will we be forced to buy a new gimbal?
Thanx for the review man
This is exactly why I was upset, then completely ok with owning the original Weebill. Having an internal only battery is such a bad idea for professionals. I really don't know why many people were calling for it to happen for so long, and I feel like Zhiyun unfortunately listened. Not only is the battery life worse, but after 350-500 charges and the battery life is completely trashed, you wont easily be able to replace it with the proprietary design. I wish companies would stop doing this.
@@kempetai2099 I use three original zhiyun weebil s. I think it's still a great option in 2022, and things like it taking 18650 batteries instead of built in ones make it last longer than the newer versions, and you're not out of luck if your battery dies. It all depends on your camera though.
Huge Thank you for being honest !!!
Could you make a review of the RS2?
Maybe you could compare the two?
Well, this gave me the answer i needed. :)
Thank you
I love this review---because you've nailed some real problems with the gimbal. My understanding is that the monitor can be shut off.
Thank you!!!! I was like, why is this damn gimbal defaulting to The same pan setting every time I turned it off. I always keep my gimbal on follow but yet it kept defaulting to the lock mode every time I turned it off. Good to know im not the only person experiencing this
What do you think about the Ride WirelessGO ii for weddings?
Thanks for the review.
We just got hands on at WPPI and my immediate though was that the internal battery scares me haha - Bobby
😂 glad you agree!
whay gimbal are you using now?
hank you for the honest opinion. I really loved using the weebill 1 for its weight, and don't see anything attractive with the new version
I just did a shoot for 4 hours with this gimbal and I did not feel any fatigue, and that is because I have hold it with the handle and the handle on the back. It was much more comfortable then a lighter gimbal that I have used with two hands on the handles at the bottom. Using the back handle made me easier to go underslung mode with it. I am very satisfied with it and the footage, even though I have used the Feiyutech G6 Max before which is much more lighter.
And just checked and it had at least 45% batterylife after 4 hours of shooting, not turning the gimbal off. So it should last 8 hours.
I see your many years working in the Mines of Moria gave you excellent back strength for this type of thing.
Try a side handle. It’s wonderful. Better then the back handle IMO
What do you think about the R2 Pro from DJI ?
As someone who is new to the world of Gimbals, I'm considering this one because of the price and ergonomics. Your battery life concerns are legitimate, but I did notice at around 11:30 the image says "It can still work while charging" so as impractical as it would be, could a battery backup be attached to keep it running all day?
What power plug adapter did you use for it to charge so fast on your down time ?
Anker usb charger
Do you know if the Weebill 3 is comparable with the Sony A7iii? I went to the website and it does’t show this camera on there. I also tried the Weebill 3 and that one either did the A7iiii showed up. Please help
Sony A7iii=Sony A7M3 is in the compatibility list. You can find it on Page 3.
zhiyun-website-shenzhen.oss-cn-shenzhen.aliyuncs.com/instruction/20230801/1690856783934-xMicxsW4.pdf
Can you connect it to a battery pack whilst using it?
Thanks for the info. Crane 2 it is.
Thoughts on the new Feiyu ScorpPro?
how is the battery life compared to the weebill s
Very good!
Can I use the camera vertically on this gimbal?
Yes
Hi Matt are you still using manual focus with A7SIII and 24 GM?
Primarily autofocus now, occasional manual focus
Nice
God bless you. Super-valuable info!!!
Follow mode drains the battery faster I noticed that with the crane 2
just got one powerbank and you are ready to go, with some little powerbank i got extra 20-30% and with 20.000 powerbank i got almost +4 charges.
Did you try a gimbal on a monopod?
Works great for me, I use it on a iFootage Cobra,
you can hold it like a seesaw, also like a tripod.
Great review, btw!
Sounds interesting, do you have any video of your setup my friend?, thanks
Miss information... 0:57 you can use a 20w portable power bank to charge it while simultaneously using it.
I’ve been renting this gimbal for two days, so your video was a good reference. By the way, will you tell me you really shot this wedding video with Sony a73? I rented that one, too; but the color was really washed out and bad. Did you have to do a lot of color grading? Would appreciate your reply. Thanks!
Filmed with the a7siii, not a73 :)
@@whoismatt oh thanks! Is the colors of a7s3 good? Was the color of your footage corrected a lot or raw?
@@-----952 good colors. I filmed in slog3. Watch this video - ua-cam.com/video/VLbDv-uRvvE/v-deo.html
yeah i know what your talking about i missed part of the wedding toasts because of that fact the groom told me they wasn't going to start toasts and dances until 7:30 , so i was like i got time to charge my batteries and the dj started it at 7:00 yeah that was not fun i had to take the batteries out out the charger put them back in the gimbal turn on the camera all while the best man was talking.
Solid review. I use a Weebil-S myself and love it over my DJI Ronin-S. Perhaps it's worth comparing both Weebils?
feiyu-tech AK4500 with the handle grip (I think thats whats its called) that is my favorite gimbal.. I'm a fat man and it comes in handy and to be able to just set it down without worrying about it tipping over or being able to mount accessories on the handle grip is a good selling point for me plus then everybody see that big Square handle grip they think it's cool.. I was a fat man videographer I highly recommended it..
Does the weebill allow Constant charging?
Yes
They said you can plug in a power bank via usb c to extend the battery life
Absolutely the worst gimbal I've ever used. The manfrotto base plate is nice but I wish it was designed as a quick release plate like the weebill S and Weebill Lab. For the Weebill 2 you have to completely slide it off the arm to remove it which means u have rebalance the tilt axis each time you put it back on. What a #$%*ing annoyance. With the previous models you could prebalance and snap off the base plate and snap it back on and its ready to go. Not anymore with the weebill 2. In my case I actually need to rebalance the roll axis too because i have to release that axis too since my camera jams up against the arm when I remove the base plate if I don't fo that. I can't even add a manfrotto Quick release plate to it. I didnt have the same battery issues as Matt though. I filmed a wedding yesterday with it and left it on for about 6 or 7 hours. It was still at around 40% (GH5 with Sigma 18-35) by the end of the day.
Basically this thing is an inconvenience because of all the things I mentioned and I'm ready to return it.
Bought one and wont power on or charge
My moza air 2 batteries last all day long
What's the battery capacity? Dam I was going to say grab some 18650 batteries with higher capacity for like $6 ea.
Aw man, that's a shame! I use my Weebil S every wedding day and it kicks butt! The battery change is definitely a downgrade.
I've heard great things about the Weebill S!
The quick release plate on the weebill S is also fantastic and quick. Now They got rid of the quick release plate for the Weebill 2. How dumb is that?
@@ramymelhem since the crane 2 I got a quick release plate and mount ! Never a buying feature for me! Lol
Just letting you know that you have the wrong link for Vu Nguyen's Weebill 2 Review video, it links it back to this video,
good review though
Agh! Thanks for the heads up, just updated the link
@@whoismatt no problem 😊🙏🏾❤️
I WAS TOO EARLY THE UA-cam DIDNT EVEN FULLY "RES" IT YET
Haha so early!
Mine never even charged the first time so that's great...
I keep on telling everyone there is a cheat code for that
It fits perfectly on the side it is like a running back gimbal sturdy and powerful and you can fit it right in the case
Zhiyun-Tech TransMount PowerPlus 6 x 18650 Battery Power Bank for CRANE-3S/3S-E
and you can use ut for your monitor etc
❤❤❤❤❤❤
i can verify.....shot a wedding with it and struggled filming a whole days worth.
great review, Matt. Thanks for the shoutout! ... 🙏🙏🙏
for those who sees this comment... don't watch my review. it sucks.
Matt, you're right. Heavy is the word. Me? Oh no. Why bother with a heavy Crane 2 when I could go all out with the even heavier Zhiyun Crane 3s Pro. Review that one when you have nothing better to do. To be fair, it's a great gimbal that offers great footage...when it works. It failed during a paid video shoot. That was awkward. It gave me the "red power button of death", went into sleep mode, new firmware be damned, and now I have to hope and pray that Zhiyun will exchange it. So far, so good, but no American companies appear to partner for support. Note to self. Never buy from Best Buy ever again, ever. The batteries suck too. Suck, suck, double-ass suck. Did I just mention that they suck? Let me repeat. They really frigging suck. Oh and just one more thing. The A7SIII will not communicate with the Crane 3s but the A7III will. Working on that. The Sony A7SIII is just amazing though. I use your settings and I'm learning as I go. Great videos. You're the best. Zhiyun? The jury is still out. I'm hoping for a happy ending, metaphorically speaking.
Intergraded battery is the stupidest thing in modern electronics. Ones the battery dies, the unit is trash. Not to mention you don't have time to charge it to continue using
It looks like dji rcs2.
Yup except it doesn't fold and has 5 hours less battery life
Go buy some DJI stuff. Everything they make is dope.
Non replaceable batteries makes thing like this useless for pro work
the Weebill S is better lol
100% agreed
its funny how this review is about battery usage but u failed to mention that u can charge via power bank while shooting ...got to thumbs down this video
Yeah but the DJI Crane 2 is $800, so you're getting what you're paying for
Weebil S is the best gimbal I've used for weddings.
