I had a similar bike crash last year (CN CYCLE 2023) where I ended up in the hospital with broken left collar bone. After 1 month on the sling, I started Zwifting. Waited another month then I started riding on the road on short distance only. Fast forward another month, I started riding 50 to 100 km. Riding is just a part of me since I was 26, now at 62, I don't intend in stopping....keep it up !
Beautiful video. Very much enjoyed the calm piano over a chill ride through the city. Makes me now want to drive to Ottawa to ride around. Haven’t been there on a bike for a few years now.
I got sideswiped by an SUV back in May. Broken collarbone and a couple ribs. The first ride after the crash was so desperately needed. It was just 5 miles around the neighborhoods but I was starting to go bonkers from being cooped up.
@@chuckhunter77 wow, I’m glad you’re alright in the end! I know what you mean about missing the ride. We thought we’d try to capture it because it felt so good to get back out there even for a little slow spin.
I’ve come to associate my season kickoff when them choking in the first round, lol! One day maybe they’ll keep me hanging in there through the spring 🤷🏻♂️
I'm looking at an All City right now before they disappear which has what brought me here. Hope you've healed up young lady. "Poor line choice", yeah, who here hasn't made those trying to navigate a rock garden. Thanks for sharing your experience, the video was very nice and the music choice was perfect for a laid back Spring spin. And I live 30 minutes from Toronto and tip of the hat to you for the shot at Maple Laughs LOL. Stay safe out there.
@@smokeycanuck8058 thanks for watching! For the record I love the leafs, I was just heartbroken yet again, lol. Which All-City are you looking for? We’re selling selling the one in this video and I (Brendan) am considering selling my All-City Gorilla Monsoon also.
Let the confidence grow. I had a bad crash on a community ride. I’m glad I a helmet on, for it was cracked, along with a lot of me. I’m happy you’re on the mend.
The area we were riding in is called The Glebe. It’s a fairly nice area. If you’re new to Ottawa neighbourhoods then I’d also consider Hintonburg. Both are just a few km’s outside of downtown.
Dang, best wishes for a speedy recovery for her. Hate it happened but really appreciated her recap of the factors leading into the spill. I mtb with a road helmet but this is finally my impetus to order a half shell with more rear pro. Savage shot at the Leafs LOL. Cheers.
Thanks! We’re both looking into more helmet coverage now too. Even though we were riding at our skill level she stood no chance against that bike coming down on the back of her head. For the record I love the leafs and wish they didn’t always pull me away from the TV as my riding season kicks off 😂
4:07 the same thing happens to me when im riding frustrated/hungry/tired, along with being tense my vision starts to drop to my front wheel and its over once that happens. im getting better at catching it, resetting, and focusing on looking down the trail but its really hard in that mindstate and in that moment. my eyes just want to gravitate to everything i dont want to run into and unfortunately on bikes you go where you look 😔
Emma should have told people that she was in a fight, and if they think that her face looks bad, they should see the other guy. Seriously though, that's considered a badge of honor for a serious cyclist. Hang in there, Emma! 👍😁

Keep the rubber side down 😂😂😂

Ouchies! that is a heck of a shiner, you are a champ Emma, get well soon!
Thanks for sharing spring time in Ottawa what a lovely ride and city.
Thanks for watching and the kind words! The shiner is making me feel like a UFC fighter, lol.

@@bike.breath Space Horse or possibly a Super Professional 55 cm most likely
Sorry to hear, hope recovery going ok 🙂
Thank you! She healed up nicely :)

Yikes, I’m glad your helmet helped you out too! Crashing is never fun but we continue to take the risks as safe as we can :)
Where in Ottawa do you guys live?? looking for a small move soon and that area looks nice

Cheers to helmets - heal quick Emma!
Thanks, and I’ll cheers to that 🙌
Happy injury wasn’t serious & this accident did not deter you from cycling. Safe travels 👍🏾
Thanks! We’re also so glad it wasn’t anything more than a broken nose. It all happens so fast! Cheers

That’s great that you recognize it! It can be so easy for it to go unnoticed and on technical trails scanning the terrain ahead is so important.
what doesn't kill you makes you stronger! :-)
Exactly! 🤘
Aw I want to give you a hug

YES! CHEWLIPS! 🌷
I can literally hear Ryan’s voice while he shakes a fist at the traffic. ..”chewlips”.
Speedy recovery!
Thank you!
What song does play throughout the video?
The composers name is Rikard From! I believe the song title is, "I'll tell you like it is".
@@bike.breath Thank you.
Her seat seems way too high
