Look closely at the wind needle on the ND. Near perfect tailwind all the way round to the headwind within the last 50 foot. Great decision to go around!
@M R first of all it’s Mexico City, of course the ground speed is going to be high… it’s 7400ft elevation. They were stable by 500ft, there is no requirement to go around if tail wind exceeds limits while on approach, if Atc give a wind that’s outside limits then you can continue to minimums to see if there is an improvement. Stick to arm chair flying and maybe keep your comments to yourself
Was just writing an exam today that asked about what pilots should do in a situation where they get a sudden unexpected increase in airspeed on approach. This video demonstrated it perfectly. Nice job.
I've had a similar experience in the canary islands. Lanzarote was experiencing a sea breeze at 200ft. but at 100ft the strong prevailing winds were at a complete opposite direction. Tailwind of 15kts the whole way down and at 100ft it became a 20kt headwind. Tried two approaches but could not get stable. Diverted and came back an hour later
Love the quick decision to just go around knowing she was just gonna float and float. Tailwinds are killer especially when they’re not advertised on the ATIS and you’re expecting a slight headwind or crosswind.
@@joelt4416 the instrumentation is on the field. Winds above the field or outside of the field can vary drastically as seen here. Or the ATIS could be nearing an hour old and just hasn’t been updated.
You Got that right . I was Practicing landings on flight Sim with Heavy winds and I flipped the. Plane because i had the wind at my Back . YA NEVER do that
Awesome video, thanks for sharing! Would you be okay with me featuring this in my series Weekly Dose of Aviation? Of course you will be credited both in the video and in the description.
I was on a flight today from Mexicali to Mexico City, and there was a very similar situation. We actually even had a brief touch down, after which almost immediately they pushed the TOGA-button. I think the touch down took too long time, after flaring the plane never really descended anymore like they were planning, just hoovering over the runway. Even though there was some difficult wind conditions, I have to say I think the approach was a little lack luster as well. So was the second one, even more so, but then they just decided to land the plane...
Little high over Threshold but due to sudden TAS shoot up aircraft ballonned....can be considered as Balked Landing since it was go around from very low feet or low energy Go-around !!
Fantastic video, bro! I want to use it in a video for my channel; is it okay? We'll give you credit in the video.and my description includes a connection to your original video. Regards
@@NOOne-li1pj megaaviator is right. That's pretty early for this GA. Technically, this is called reject landing. Thinking about the elevation of Mexico city, the aerodynamics is not good at all, delaying retraction is better. No matter what, they did the great job.

Good choice to go around!
Yup increased their airspeed, leading to the plane ballooning

@M R need to learn where South America is too
@M R I just flew delta mainline into ATL high winds… never “established” on final much less short final they still landed it. You sir are a troll

not a pilot at all just wanted to ask would that be windshear?
@forma1x997 yes sir.
Escape from low energy area was executed perfectly

why wouldn't such a significant tailwind not be "advertised" on ATIS???

Yes 20-10 feet!
What is the exact definition of "Balked Landing"? I still struggle to take one definition. I've read that is a go around after the MAPt
@@mezaviationa balked landing is one where the aircraft wheels touch down, no matter how brief. This is just a low altitude go-around.
What an amazing video, would you b okay with me using it in my upcoming video. I will give credits ofcourse :)
Go ahead
If your the copilot and the PIC on the flight but you go around do you still fly the plane(like the landing)👀
What's the flight information, what name of the airlines are you flying in from and where is the wind coming in from and wind speed?
Nice cam view!
Could I use your video in a compilation on my channel? I'll give proper credits and link to the original video.

Awesome catch! Can I feature it? Credited on screen and with a link back!

couldv landed.. no prob.. lots rw left
We have this thing in aviation called the touchdown zone. If you land outside of it, you can get in trouble with either ATC or FOQA
@@blumac9801yeh but how long that rw ?
altitude was very low to flaps retraction.
??? Do you even know what you are talking? The altitude has nothing to do with the flaps.
Not at all
They must have been at least 5000’
Not at all, flaps 3 is standard go around procedure.
