Cookie is being retired. She doesn’t have the energy to do anything anymore and I was getting frustrated because the lessons were going horrible each time. Today I got the chance to have a solo lesson- nobody else showed up to the lesson (lol). I grabbed Cookie at first but quickly got frustrated and went to grab Tuf. I will be riding him from now on, though I feel kind of guilty since he’s almost 30 years old. Also- please excuse my very awkward seat when I was loping. Tuf’s strides are long compared to Cookie’s and I need to get used to it again.
Ooo yay! I wouldn’t feel guilty about it, we had a 31 year old horse who was retired just last year, but only retired bc she had some arthritis in her back leg. I’m sorry about Cookie though, how old was she?
I believe she’s only 21 but she is used in almost every single lesson and it’s just wearing her out. Even if she got a break, she probably would still be exhausted.
@@ForeverBrooklyn oh that makes sense, poor girl :( are there any other lesson horses at your barn that are more advanced/can be ridden by more advanced riders?
Well, Cody is supposed to be sent off to go to a trainer so he can become a lesson horse. I believe they’re training two other horses right now (to be lesson horses), but they’re kind of crazy and have way too much energy-
