    Thanks for the post. I don't know how you did this job while you were shooting the video....LOL. I could not get the cap off of the primary (engine compartment) fuel filter using the 1 1/8" socket. I ended up buying & using a big filter wrench (Autozone $16) (the one with the rubber belt) to fit around the cap. I also used it to get the back filter off. Your directions were spot on. Thanks again. Scott

    Great Video! Word of warning though,, I believe the forward filter you showed in the video is incorrect. MF608. I recently purchased a 2015 truck with about 80k miles. I changed my filter following this filter number. Big mistake! It worked for a couple of days, then I received the dreaded low fuel pressure error codes. Not thinking it would be a filter issue, I started chasing parts, I ended up changing lift pump, and a sensor (all in about $600). The lift pump required dropping tank or removing bed. Both labor intensive jobs. After hours of troubleshooting, I determined that the fuel filter was the culprit. I believe the MF 608 is good on single filter applications (2012 and before). The reason being is it has a membrane inside the filter that acts as the fuel water separator. The correct filter 68157291AA has no membrane and allows the fuel to flow freely. Once I changed out the filter to the correct one, it has been trouble free! Since my truck (like yours) has a separate water separator at the rear of the truck, the rear filter handles the task of water separation.

    Just curious but does the fuel filter cause the check engine signal?

    • @LarrySbrusch
      @LarrySbrusch  5 років тому

      It would have to be plugged up pretty bad for it to throw that signal..but it is possible...when the engine does not get the proper amount of fuel..it will trigger all kinds of other false reading to computer in vehicle..making it behave erratically

    There's no g in Cummins. They are not Dodge Ram anymore! It's just Ram Trucks. They split off in 2009, so you really ought to catch up!
