That doesn’t work my man. A woman who’s decided to check out of a marriage has done so LONG before any symptoms manifest. Divorces don’t happen overnight for women. They’re calculated and planned with exit strategies in place.
By the time it’s sprung on the husband, it is way too late.
Your advice will potentially help his next relationship…

Thanks for chiming in, brother. I hear you, and what you say makes sense. But it’s certainly not the rule. I’ve seen time and time again when a man shows up differently, he can stabilize the marriage, and even get it to a fulfilling place. I’m curious. Did you have personal experience with what you speak to? Is that how it happened for you?

@@stuartmotola MAYBE if he senses and catches it as it is starting to brew.
But most men get blindsided by “I want a divorce”. It seems sudden to the man, but for the woman it’s been planned and strategized for quite some time. And once her mind is made up, it’s hard to reverse things. And in most cases, the harder he tries, the more she retreats and he pushes her away.
And I suppose that’s what happened to me? I mean, who tf really ever knows? I pulled out all the stops to give and be selfless and try to salvage our family, but it had ZERO effect. This is the general rule.

@@keywestfan2503 Heard. And agreed. Some planned it and some contemplated it . In most cases, she did "cry out for help," trying to get the guy to pay attention and not be so emotionally unavailable or checked out. And often he stays asleep at the wheel of his marriage. Again, hard to generalize. But we know the stats that in college-educated couples, 90% of the time the woman initiates the divorce. And mostly because he's been emotionally unavailable.
Sorry to hear of what happened to you. I'm curious if you had coaching or support as you tried to patch things up and how you've transitioned since.Of course, no need to share personal details publicly if you prefer not.

What do you mean by "not take it on?" Do you mean not confront nastiness? Ignore it? Not take it personally? Please elaborate, or maybe give an example.
