- This is the Filipino’s people vision. By 2040, the Philippines is a prosperous middle-class society where no one is poor. People live long, and healthy lives, and are smart, and innovative.
The country is a high-trust society where families thrive in vibrant, culturally diverse, and resilient communities.
This is where the Philippines Development Plan takes off. During the previous administration, the National Economics and Development Authority board, chaired by former President Rodrigo Duterte’s approved the Philippines Development Plan 2017-2022.
It is the first medium-term plan, to be anchored on the zero to 10 socioeconomic agenda, and its gears toward the ambition natin 2040, which articulates the Filipino people’s collective vision of stable, convenient, and secure life for all. (Matatag, maginhawa at panatanag na buhay para sa lahat)
It also takes into account the country’s international commitment, such as the 2030 sustainable development goals, it is the result of nationwide consultations, with various sectors.
In turning the Philippines’ vision into reality, it is necessary for each administration to build on the gains of its predecessor to ensure, the continuity and consistency of policies, programs, projects, and initiatives while also maintaining a certain amount of flexibility.

Prior to the pandemic, 2050 was the target year for PH to become a trillion-dollar economy, but now it's moved to 2033. This is due to a sudden robust economic performance from an ever-growing OFW remittance and the IT/BPO industry plus growth in local tourism, PH has exceeded expectations despite its poor export industry, underdeveloped agriculture, and low FDI compared to its neighbors. Who knows, with new oil and gas discoveries coming out, more infrastructure projects, and the opening of some sectors to foreign ownership, PH might exceed expectations again and projections might have to be revised. PH is truly different thanks to our unique history of Spanish rule that taught us patience & empathy from our Christian faith & American rule that gave us English as our 2nd language, both our positive attitude and English proficiency power our BPO service industry and make us employable globally. The BPO sector and diaspora of Filipino OFWs from the 70s up to now have helped fuelled consumer spending in goods, properties, tourism, insurance, and other sectors, driving our "unique" economic growth even further. As one SG lady speaker said in a BPO conference in 2005, it's our destiny to be under US rule, learn English and be the voice of the world, & right she was. Fate has it that we became a US territory and that Pinoys would comprise the biggest labor export in the world until now. The 3 successive admins of Pnoy, Duterte, and BBM have shown that continuity of development plans, despite their political differences is very essential. There is still a lot to improve on, but we're inching our way up. God bless the Philippines, all our sacrifices and sufferings are not without any fruits after all.

I visited dolomite beach, i wish it was available for swimming, but the change is stunning. Complete turnaround from what once was a place forgotten about or left to waste away, was transformed back and restored into what it was before metro manila was built. I got to see the beach where foreigners have come to the Philippines for centuries. It blew my mind, to think spaniards crossed that beach, the Japanese, Americans, and all who sought to conquer our islands have been ejected out. Just crazy to think

Based on what I searched on google, the Philippines has 433 Billion Dollars GDP Nominal and in 2027 it will reach 610 Billion Dollars GDP Nominal.
Thats a good number. Further reading and analysis shows other countries or cities operating at that level of gdp output are sustainable. Sweden gdp output is also around 600bilion and its one of the top European countries to live in. Chicago itself, where i live, is a city that itself outputs 600billion. However id choose to live high quality middle class living in phillipines than middle class in Chicago. But it is definitely clear innovation in the phillipines is needed and here to stay. The future is exciting for the phillipines

In order to reach that Philippines needs to be consistent on its performance every year. The Filipino people needs to work hard and unite as one nation to achieve this goal.
Some depend on GDP per capita income ,they divide the entire economy to the whole population of one country .but on the other hand they excluded some Filipinos who worked abroad and earned six digit .take for example seamen,health care professionals ,engineers .accountants etc .that's why you may see some high end stores,Michelin restaurants ,etc ,because the driving force for that are ofws or filipino professionals who worked abroad.some non Filipinos may shocked how Filipinos can afford to eat at Wolfgang steakhouse or staycation at okada manila wherein the room rates are too expensive .

@@ignaciusmainit3916 OFW remmitances are part of the GNP of the country, and not GDP. GDP only accounts for the total goods and services produced by citizens and nationals within the country.
OFWs are included in the Philippine population and the GDP per Capita calculation. They just went out the county to work but their statistics still in the country.

I think one of the South East Asian Country to produce Millions of Barrel's of Oil, More Oil Exploration Sites to Discover, that's the assets of the Philippines for Economic Development in the coming years, expectedly 2030.
I can't wait to see that the philippines will become a develop country soon. Because right now the philippines have many projects that need to be build. Some are almost done like aseana city, and now they start to build the reclamation projects which is a man made island that will going to be the new horizon manila city. And of course the the president of the philippines is giving the filipino a housing projects that can benefits them. And many ongoing projects right now such as railways, subway and many more infrastructure. They start right now to build more cities, and this country is growing very fast despite having many problems like calamities and others.

Correction, not only the Philippines experience natural calamities, Other countries such as USA, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Australia, Italy, France, China, Thailand, Indonesia Vietnam, India, South Korea etc..are also experiencing natural calamities. Its Universal, anyway its mother nature.
Lower that atrocious birth rate, and the country can get there much sooner. Less people equals less resource requirements. The Philippines should recruit foreign talent, but limit it to highly skilled workers and entrepreneurs because they have enough skilled and unskilled workers. I think issuing 100 work visas each year would suffice. It looks minuscule, but I have faith in local talent. I would prioritize Indians and Christians in the Middle East. I'm bullish on the Philippines, India and Vietnam. The Philippines is slightly overpopulated, but it's manageable. India's technological prowess surpasses many countries including some European countries, but it's significantly overpopulated. They deserve a permanent seat in the UN Security Council as a worthy representative of the Global South. Vietnam is an authoritarian, one-party state which is less flexible. I hate those reclamation projects in the NCR. They need to decongest Manila by upgrading the provinces. I think the official language should be English because it's the language of commerce, but regional dialects with the Baybayin script should be learned first to preserve them. Development requires cheap energy, and nuclear is the cheapest.

Also Philippines GDP per capital in 2022 is considered to be around 3700 usd, not changing much from 2021's 3600 usd due to peso devaluation and inflation
So I wonder if PH can reach upper middle income status in 2023 which is now around 4400 usd

The philippines has alot of line-up of politicians that has no function. Better eliminate the unnecessary titles. For example: most of the kagawad in our barangay is no read no how but was elected and got a very big house from nothing. How come.!!😂😂😂😂
