    I have a pair of these in a 47, which is ideal for my 11.5 feet. Great boots.
    Only issue is the clamp screws have worked their way loose over 10 months of occasional use. Fortunately managed to find the clamp, but need a new screw to re-attach it. Worth checking if you have a pair.

    I like how you talk about CE certifications and what exactly on the boots is CE certified. Tnx.

    I am torn between the dakar and the midland. They both fit me well in size 43. The midland is a biiiit more comfortable but not by much but the dakar offers more protection and it also feels a bit warmer. I would be very thankful for some suggestions :)

    Given the oiled leather and better ankle protection along with a nicer hinge, what would you pick between this and the SIDI ADV 2? AND WHY? I'm about to purchase either of these or a TCX BAJA, literally at half the cost... Thoughts?

      Based on your comment on the Sidi video I'm taking it you have a Royal Enfield Interceptor. For that sort of the bike the need for ankle bracing is reduced so I would be happy with the TCX Baja and I think that's what I would choose, as long as it's the Baja Gore-Tex. In my experience, Gore-Tex boots are worth the extra money. Cheers, Tony

      Gore tex branded boots are the only ones I've found , other than BMW branded membrane which I think actually is gore tex, and are sometimes labled gore tex, that work well as year rounders (breathing well). 90% of non Gore waterproofing, isn't. So throw your money away, or spend more and get what you pay for. In a nutshell :) I've spent a lot, and learned a lot.

    • @flippy66
      @flippy66 4 місяці тому

      That is completely incorrect. Anything branded Gore-Tex (which is Gore's membrane) is that membrane. Gore don't make any other waterproof membranes. You're obviously confused.

    Hi Tony, I ride an XSR700. Casual riding nothing off road touring type stuff. I want good protection and I’m looking at all these types of boots. How can I tell which is too much for my type of riding. ? I was originally looking at the sports bike type styles. I’m leaning towards the Sidi Adv. any help or advice would be appreciated, thanks Damian

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  Рік тому

      Hi Damian, I don't think there's any such thing as too much protection. There's nothing to stop you going for boots like this if protection is a priority for you. It's about percentages... someone riding off-road a lot has a higher percentage chance of needing the anti-twist protection you get from boots like these, but there's still a chance you may need it. If having boots like these on your feet makes you feel more confident in your riding then it's worth doing. As for the decision between Sidi and Gaerne, there's very little in it so see if you can try on a pair of both and make a decision on comfort. I hope that helps, and thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony

    Very nice, if you can afford £300 + for boots. It might be a good idea, if you could provide a complete outfit for riders that want to remain safe, but on a budget. That really would be worth watching 😉

      cheap: get old used gear with good pad protection, spend 150 on bmw pro rain suit in hi-vis, and you are set.

    Do these boots have a steel plate in the sole ? Like some chainsaw boots that are on the market

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  Рік тому

      I can't say whether there's a steel plate, but the sole is reinforced and the boots meet the higher Level 2 in the CE test for transverse rigidity, which checks the sole won't fold over when a weight is applied. Hope that helps. Cheers, Tony

    Hi. I’ve taken delivery of a pair of sidi adventure 2 in a 44. They are fine in the length but I have a big issue with the width of them. Do the Gaerne Dakar have a wider toe box?

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  2 роки тому

      We've just measured up and the Gaerne boots actually have a slightly narrower toebox than the Sidi. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony

    In doing my research to find the best adventure boots for me. I’m in the same boat as Arvind Lyer where I have narrowed it down to the Sidi Adventure 2’s and the Gaerne G Dakar’s. I want Gortex and I am leaning towards the Sidi because it’s membrane goes to the top. Does the Sidi have enough lateral support? More or less than the Gaerne Dakar? I have narrowed feet so I don’t need a wide toe box. Just to add I have a new Yamaha T7 and plan to do semi aggressive riding.

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  Рік тому +4

      I've just looked at the Gaernes and Sidis back-to-back and I'd say there's more lateral support from the Gaerne boots. The Gore-Tex membrane extends as far up the Gaerne boots as it does the Sidis. It sounds to me like your use is equivalent to David Crampton, who contributes product reviews for us. He has extensive experience of both, and you can read his reviews here... bit.ly/GaerneDakarReview and bit.ly/SidiAdventureReview Cheers, Tony

      @@sportsbikeshopthere's a lot of people making this confusion and sometimes it seems downright disingenuous. Yes on the sidis the water protection flap thingy goes all the way up but NOT the gore tex layer. Tnx or making it clear.

    I have quite thick calf’s 23cm circumference so most boots are useless to me, the wider opening is what drew me to these boots. Does anyone know the internal circumference at the top please when fastened?

      In terms of the material covering the toebox, yes - that's just leather over the top. Cheers, Tony

    Interested to know how this compares to the G Midland GTX, is it enough an upgrade to warrant getting these over the Midlands, and whether both models fit the same for the same size......

    • @sportsbikeshop
      @sportsbikeshop  2 роки тому +1

      If adventure boots sit on a scale with a motocross boot at one extreme and a touring boot at the other, the G-Dakar boots sit a little more towards the MX end than the G-Midland boots. If off-road riding takes up more of your biking activity then you might want the extra support from the ankle bracing, but if not the G-Midlands are brilliant adventure boots that were very popular with our globetrotting reviewer Andy Davidson, who wrote this... mag.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/reviews/gaerne-g-midland-gore-tex-boots-review/ As for sizing, we don't have any G-Midlands in stock so I would have to take it on trust that sizing is consistent across the two models. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony
