Huge thing people always get wrong about Cyclops: that he willingly made out with Emma Frost on his wife's grave. No, actually, if you read the original arc, he WALKED AWAY from Emma Frost on his wife's grave, then walked away from the X-Men entirely. This led to a bad future demonstrated in the "Here Comes Tomorrow" arc, which led to the resurrection of Jean Grey. Upon discovering that Cyclops walking away from the X-Men is part of what led to the dystopian future that she had woken up to, Jean reached out back in time via the Phoenix Force to the moment he walked away from Emma and instead nudged him and Emma together. A lot of people forget that Cyclops is one of the top martial artists in the Marvel Universe however the comics to be more specific the ones from the 80s, early 90s, and mid 90s on regular basis showed that he is the top H2H fighter on the X-Men even Logan admits in terms of pure skill Scott is better then him and it shows as Scott has mastered boxing, kickboxing, Muay-Thai, pankration, karate, tae-kwan-do, aikido, judo, various Chinese martial arts, jeet-kun-do, and Krav-Maga as well as mastering the art of Blindfighting. However, the comics starting with the ones in the late 90s have forgotten that Scott is a master martial artist and only seem to have him as a pure long-range fighter. Heck the only recent piece of X-Men media in the 2000s besides the various fighting games including MVC2 that accurately portray Scott as a good H2H fighter was X-Men Evolution as various episodes including the S3 episode where he took on Mystique without his glasses/visor and won have him beating enemies with his martial arts skills. Here's hoping X-Men 97 actually showcases Scott's martial arts prowess.

I really think it's time Cyclops stopped needing the visor. I understand the original point of it - to turn powers into a curse and that makes for an interesting twist on things - but this is no longer the 1960s, it's not novel or interesting, and mostly it means Cyclops has to build his life around his visor. and to be sure, it serves as a reminder in every single panel that Cyclops's powers don't work right. I'd like to see Cyclops in control of his powers once and for all, and then they could do better things with his character. Even if they upgraded his visor to some red contact lenses, that'd be fine.
The reason he needs the visor anyway is because he can't control his power. Much like Rogue's inability to touch someone without draining them (as far as I know, that's still the case in one universe or another), Scott's mutant ability didn't come in completely when it went active. If it had, he could control it completely. But because it got stuck, he can't. Mutants aren't as interesting if all of them could control their powers. Rogue because who she is BECAUSE she can't control her power. Sorry but if Scott could control his power, he just becomes a watered-down version of Superman, just with concussive blasts instead of laserbeams. That doesn't make him unique. Superman already has Expies in Hyperion and Shazam. We don't need Scott added to that list.
@@25Erix If Scott could control his blasts he still wouldn't be even close to Superman. In any event, even if Scott has a high power level, power levels aren't what make a character interesting. But Scott as a character is largely built around how his eyes are a curse. It's dull. It's played out. Rogue does it better anyway.
cyclops also beats wolverine, storm, nightcrawler, colossus, shadow-cat, and rogue in uncanny 175 they all are under masterminds influence and see scott as the phoenix returned, oh and he beats them after colossus breaks his ribs which is the point he realised he had to fight back.
you could turn cyclops into a head from futurama, and he'd still be just as useful. they could have a member of the team that says " I'm the member with cyclops's head!!" *brandishes the container with cyclops head.*
If I'm not mistaken, his beans don't come out of his eyes but they're actually portals to another world. When he opens his eyes then his then the portals are open, if I'm correct
The one superpower thing is not usually used to ridicule many other characters. Black Canary is thought of as a cool chick. Speedsters have only "one power" but it gives them other powers as well. Many characters only have superhuman strength but it can lead to invulnerability, enhanced speed, leaping ability, e.t.c. Even Superman doesn't actually have 2 powers that we thought he did: his lungs can eject air or pressurize it to very low temperatures.
Cyclops also beat Shadowcat, Wolverine, Colossus, Storm and Rogue all by lonesome too. Seriously, the only person in the MU who even remotely gives him a run for his money tactically is Captain America.
That he abandoned his wife and child for Jean. Edit: 1:45: if you ever do a “10 things everyone gets wrong about Jean Grey” that should be one of the items. She only died ONCE when Xorn/Magneto sent a magnetic pulse through her body. In the Phoenix/Dark Phoenix Sagas, that was not Jean, but a copy created by the Phoenix Force, while the real Jean was in a cocoon, still alive and further developing her powers, and when Xorn killed her in the early-2000s, she stayed dead until, I think it was the late 2010s.
Cyclops beams in my marvel universe series are strong enough to give hulk one to second degree burns at its most powerful which is in equal power to Zeus full power thunderbolt blasts.
C'mon ma dudes, no comment about how everyone gets his power wrong? Where his power comes from? How he's also a champion? The fact that he has brain damage and refuses to get it fixed? That he can actually see colour, his vision isn't just red? There were so many good points you could have raised regarding the characters misconceptions. But no, everyone thinks that he can be beaten by every other xman.... Really?!
IMO Cyclops is like marvel's superman , not in a sense that he's op , he's pretty skilled but his scenes are sometimes uninteresting. He's not boring but he does give that mainstream vibe.
Technically he literally went for Madelyn Pryor because she looked a lot like Jean meaning even then he still had only eyes for her. Emma Frost was during a particularly bad time for him (and really Jean could’ve helped him) after everything with Apocalypse). Jean literally gave him permission at one point to move on because he refused to do it himself. Psylocke was literally the one pushing herself onto Scott. She kissed him at one and he pushed her away saying the affair couldn’t happen. This was also during a time where his relationship with Jean was a mess and she wouldn’t stop obsessing over Wolverine leaving. Scott and Jean are over complicated as hell and I highly doubt they are even functional half the time but to say any woman can easily sway him away from her is just untrue. (Also Cyclops constantly tries over and over to make sure his teammates get home alive so no he’s not THAT willing to sacrifice them for his goals. Hell his goals are literally Xavier’s. He’s pretty much the reason they almost always are alive)
Remember Cyclops and Wolverine are polar opposites. Why they clash so many times. Hell one of the anime X sent Storm with Wolverine to get Cyclops back to the team and had Storm play referee after the events of the dark phoenix saga. One additional fact; Cyclops has 2 brothers. Havoc and Vulcan. Vulcan I personally would like to see teased and introduced in a gaurdians of the galaxy movie. Have a legitimate fight scene between him Star Lord.
Ah, but the problem with adding Doreen to the MCU is, she'd quickly overshadow the other heroes. As always thank you so very much for the video. And happy holidays.
Actually it's the other way around. According to Emma, his mind is one of the most complex any telepath can ever hope to see. The challenge to "figure him out" is a catnip most telepaths can't help but be attracted to.
I enjoyed most of the list. However, in my opinion, it would be more compelling overall, if they had used more references for the controversial misunderstandings. Great video though, would love to get some greatest X-men arcs to read or something!
At least you didn't try to argue that he's not a jerk, sometimes he's a jerk. I've heard it argued that he isn't , but that's the thing about interpretation, is unique to yourself. You didn't bring up one point about him I didn't agree with, but he has done some pretty jerky things. Comics are full of your favorite characters acting like jerks.
His visor make him unique
No.
Wolverine : of course Scott is a badass ! He would have to be to put up with me.
cyclops also beats wolverine, storm, nightcrawler, colossus, shadow-cat, and rogue in uncanny 175 they all are under masterminds influence and see scott as the phoenix returned, oh and he beats them after colossus breaks his ribs which is the point he realised he had to fight back.

In _AoA_ Cyke took Logan's hand. Let's not forget that. Granted he had his eye cut out in that same fight.
you could turn cyclops into a head from futurama, and he'd still be just as useful. they could have a member of the team that says " I'm the member with cyclops's head!!" *brandishes the container with cyclops head.*
Finally some justice for my favorite X-men 💪
Everything everybody hates about Cyclops, they love about Batman.
Agree
If I'm not mistaken, his beans don't come out of his eyes but they're actually portals to another world. When he opens his eyes then his then the portals are open, if I'm correct
Another thing is that Scott is immune to his own blast.
Cyclops was a Villain during the age of apocalypse and only switched sides at the end
Why does the vanilla flavored xman make so much sense. Lmaooooo...
He's an absolute chad that done dirty in fox-men films and was made second film to Wolverine?
Anyone else get this 4 times in their notifications? Guess they REALLY want me to see this. 😆
Technically all of Superman's powers are tied to his bio-electric aura.
Cyclops also beat Shadowcat, Wolverine, Colossus, Storm and Rogue all by lonesome too. Seriously, the only person in the MU who even remotely gives him a run for his money tactically is Captain America.
Thats old asf u prolly wouldnt be able to come close now😂😂 especially against wolverine💯
@@klydejohnson7520 they said “tactically.”
Storm literally outsmarted and beat him without her powers to take over as leader. So clearly that's not true
@@onyx081 kkkkkkkk
@@onyx081 Well except for the fact that he didn't want the job and was being psychically controlled to lose and has fought and beat her since then.
I've always loved Cyclops... so glad he's getting his flowers
Bad writing
Can you do a video on Bishop please
Cyclops beams in my marvel universe series are strong enough to give hulk one to second degree burns at its most powerful which is in equal power to Zeus full power thunderbolt blasts.
Cyclops would probably be able to beat Iron Man
4:46 shortest entry ever written, and somehow that's what makes it funny
@ 7:43 who is that green haired woman next to Jubilee?
Polaris
@@joel3921 thanks for the reply
He is the most Shafted character in the movies him and Storm
one of my fav characters, people always tickle me when they say he isn't powerful.
Extremely under appreciated character. Damn shame. True fans know.
Scott + Emma > Scott + Jean. Emma gets him and made him a stronger leader.
Who is with him now?
@@markhousel2712 unsure. I'm behind on comics right now.

So, Scott Summers was not only a sympathizer, but secretly leading the X-Men in ''Age of Apocalypse''!
Why haven’t they write any good/interesting stories about Scott Summers?
It is pretty weird that he's so constantly into telepaths
Actually it's the other way around. According to Emma, his mind is one of the most complex any telepath can ever hope to see. The challenge to "figure him out" is a catnip most telepaths can't help but be attracted to.
But also, people tend to form a type based on their first crush.
Isn't Cyclops eye-beam of a force nature? (Force beam)
Captain America with eye blasts instead of a shield.
Edit: Give him the shield, Marvel. Give it to him now.
Throw in the hammer too. ;)
How do u not mention one of his kills is professor x
Team Cyclops all day I believe that's who professor X appointed the leader of the X-Men
I enjoyed most of the list.
Cyclops will probably never be my favorite x-man, but he far from unlikeable. Could be Xavior is a bigger jerk, I do recall a cover with Kitty Pride saying something to that effect.
i argue that he is a jerk that means well. he is just shit at communicating.
Just because you're jerk doesn't mean you're not a good person. I actually have grown to like him more than I have.
One trick pony - If that trick involves shooting laser (energy blast) from your eyes, I say it was a damn good trick. I want one.
Cyclops rides a V-Rod. So at least he has good taste in motorcycles.
Cyclops was portraited as a doosh in XVA and following comics. That's when the character lost love from fans...well not all fans but u get my meaning.
I hate Bendis so very much. I wish we could have had several more years of Kieron Gillen and Jason Aaron.
@@adamgreenspan4988 They run out of villains they started demonizing the best of heroes. Look what they did to Tony Stark in Civil War and Captain America hydra agent? The explanation that it wasn't Steve was sloppy writing.
dont forget Ms. Forester
He can't help it!! He drives Psychic Women WILD!! XD
Wait, what the ? He was a DJ? What comic was this in?
4:53 It's "dull as dish water;" not "dull as a dish washer." Your mum is not dull.
1:15) Wait, when did New-52 Nightwing cross over into the marvel universe
Anna Kendrick as Squirrel Girl :D
"I want this thing off my lawn..."
Did you forget you get stronger with his brother havoc
All I know is at some point Storm did manage to take Cyclops out without her powers for leadership of the X-Men. At least at one point.
Love this
Storm literally beat him without using her powers in a battle to become the leader of the XMEN. So let’s not say he can beat ALL of the X-MEN.
didn't she knock the glasses off him and he gave up
@@trevorghalt1881 she had already beaten him and wore him out, and you are correct, he gave up.
@@jesuisleprince417 to be fair Scott wasn't fully into fight because he wanted to be a father and husband but when he did defeat the X-Men it was a younger less experienced X-Men
@@trevorghalt1881 Regardless, if that fight took place today he would still get his behind handed to him by Storm. She continuously beats the brakes off of people with or without her powers.
@@onyx081 I mean probably I mean she's beat crazy strong opponents before but also people just low ball Scott too
He also beat Captain Marvel. In terms of tactics, few can compare with him.

I always wanted eyes look him as a kid lol
Cyclops is the undisputed leader of the X men and was hated because he is the best X men not Wolverine.
Besides Captain America Cyclops is Marvel's greatest team leader
