      Even then, we still get passed. Lol. That's why you wake up early so you can get an idea of traffic. If you trip plan properly you won't need to rush outta the truck stop or wherever it is you parked. That driver needs some patience. We're all doing the same job out here.

    To all newer guys.. herein lies a lesson.
    You don't blow any horns .. city or air.. in a truck stop, day OR night.
    Just because you are awake, doesn't mean everyone else is.
    Jake braking through every gear..
    Banging loudly on your slide with a hammer..
    Popping your air brakes 45 times beside a row of parked trucks while you try to slide ONE HOLE...
    Hanging in a group with your pals beside your truck parked beside another while laughing and talking loudly...
    is likely keeping them awake.
    I know this because it happens to me all the time.
    Try to be respectful of others as you would have them be of you.. or don't get pissy when you get rained on too.

      That's why I don't let any desk jockey moron tell me how to drive a truck, when to work, how to work, etc.
      I will melt down when some desk jockey idiot tells me 'you don't have time to stop to eat/shower/scratch your butt', 'why aren't you moving?', 'its only 3oo miles to your delivery on the other side of those mountains and you have 4.23 hours left to work! You can make your delivery today!' My record is clean, I can find another job in a few days, if not quicker.
      You can't let the little crap get to you, or build up. If I need to take a break, I take a break. If it's a problem with some desk jockey who can't find his way across the company parking lot without a GPS, I can easily find another job.
      I've also worked for a company if you told them 'I need to rest a few hours I don't feel well' they would put you on suspension until you got a new DOT physical. It didn't matter where in the USA you were. So drivers worked SICK, or injured.

    • @anonymousinc6330
      @anonymousinc6330 5 років тому +7

      Yeah, when I had somebody that wanted to turtle race me or wouldn't get up the road and get away from my truck, I would either tap the cruise down three to five miles per hour, or pull off the next exit and sit there for about 5 minutes. Amazing what a difference it makes. Problem is, we have too many idiots getting their CDL these days who've never driven anything bigger than a Honda Civic, and have this "I'm bigger than you, get the fuck out of my way" mindset. Shame that those bad apples are ruining it for all of us.

      Amazing, isn't it? But this is the Billly Bad-ass mentality of the modern day E-Log outlaw. I remember my first co-driver thought they knew everything and they were there to train me, but I was the one he asked to back the truck up a 3-mile dead-end road in the dark. Next one violated company shut-down order after a bad storm, driving 50 miles per hour on ice with no chains or pre-trip. Last but not least, was balls to the wall, 65 miles per hour, foot to the floor, rain or shine. I set the cruise at 62-63 and not only had a higher average speed than he did, I also pulled more miles per day. Some people just can't see the forest for the trees.

    Different take on this video, but it looks like the Prime driver thought the Blue Truck / Kennesaw trailer was going to stop and give him room to pull forward to square up and park. About the time the Prime driver went to pull forward, the blue truck began moving and pulled on up closer to the stopped truck in front of it. If there's a stopped truck in front of you, and some other guy adjacent to you is waiting for that space to pull forward for a few seconds, why not just hold your ground and give him the space, rather that pull up right behind the stopped truck and block him?

    • @TruckerdashcamBlogspot
      @TruckerdashcamBlogspot  6 років тому +2

      You can't always tell what a truck moving slowly through a truck stop parking lot is up to? I was stuck behind a slow moving truck moving through a petro truck stop the other day. I thought he was moving the truck slowly to not trigger his ELD. He was doing 3-4 mph. There wasn't enough room to get around him without creating chaos, and often they finish whatever they are doing when they see you going around them, and speed up, or cut you off. I mustered up my patience....and waited, creeping along. Then, the truck stops in the middle of the lane...the driver gets out, and walks to a dumpster to throw some trash away, 100 feet away. I then drove around him, not happy, but glad to GTF out of there. If running into stuff that makes no sense gets you angry, you better keep out of trucks.

    It does seem unprofessional of him. I used to be a computer operator at a trucking company. One driver told the story of one new kid they all nicknamed "Outlaw", because of his temper and horrible attitude. He was combative with his trainer, and when asked to unload for a client, he told the dispatcher "I'm not your n@##!!". Or he might have said that directly to the client. What took the cake was he was flagged by DOT for some violation, and decided he was going to show the DOT officer what for. The officer was an older gentleman. He didn't get the first swing. Younger officers immediately jumped him and he got locked up. That probably ended his trucking career.

    I have a Prime driver doing 55 mph esst on i76 out of Denver when I'd start to pass he'd speed up to 68 my governed speed holding me out and when I'd pull back in he'd slow down and a few miles repeat when I'd pull out to pass...so the 5th time I tossed an empty rock star can out out him and by accident my metrx protein bar ... this did not cause damage but was intended to send a message the guy also looked like received 150lbs soaking wet . Less than 3 minutes after I did this safety was on the phone asking me if I did this and why . At the time he was still lane racing me and I explained what he'd been doing and that ...lol... something "may have" blown out my window by accident when "accidentally " bumping my elbow on the window switch ... The chick in safety laughed her add off for back on phone with him and asked why he was having a hard time maintaing his speed with our truck behind you and not to bother her again ... I really like the safety department at a small company since he's calling a person I b.s. with in person with weekly .

I sent a link to a video of a very dangerous driver to a smaller company safety department, and included a tracking program with the email. I could see them forwarding my email (with a throwaway email address) to 20 drivers. A week later some person claiming to be the head of the safety department, (50 truck company) started begging me to remove the video. I googled her name and see she was a secretary at the company, no mention of 'safety'. Screw them. The video is still up.

      Swinging doors sure beats being a knuckledragging flatbedder! I haven't pulled an open trailer in ten years, and my knuckles have finally healed and scarred over,. :) Flatbedders can get away with acting strange since they fall off the trailer pretty often, usually hitting their head.

    That driver sounds like a trainer I had when I drove for Prime. The trainer I had was an arrogant a$$hole and didn’t give a 💩. Thank goodness I got a better trainer when I got back to the yard.

      Lol I got lucky. My trainer at times was strict but I understood why. I've made minor mistakes while training but I've always learned better afterwards. Passed my tests the first time through I was so happy lmao. Had my official license since June 2016. No accidents, clean record

    trucker needs lots of patience.... stuck in traffic patience, long driving patience and slow speed patience. if anyone is fast car type of person, don't be a trucker. you will kill someone oneday.

    *P* lease *R* emember, *I'm* *M* issouri
    *E* ducated, *I* *N* eed *C* lasses. 'Prime' example of a complete jackass, in a hurry to get nowhere... It's not like it was the last parking spot. But give them credit, guys, at least they weren't parking on the fuel island, as so many mega carrier steering wheel holders are prone to do.

      If you had the stress of driving a rig, surrounded by idiots on cell phones cutting you off, pulling in front of you, dumb drivers blocking lanes, bad weather, constant phone calls from dispatch and customers asking where you are and when you will get there...
      Trying to get as many miles in while watching your 11 hour clock run out, while trying to plan for a place to park before your time runs out...
      Do all that for 12 hours a day 7 days a week for a while and you will not have any problems sleeping !
