I’ve been noticing you have a new narrator foe a while now. Have you hired a new hand? Keep up the good work. I’m so glad I’m not in a shop anymore. I’m in the deer woods in Oklahoma and loving this retirement. Thanks for sharing my friend.
Imagine not being able-bodied enough to do that. I know it's fun to pretend those customers are all between the ages of 18 and 49 and just stupid, but there are plenty of people capable of driving a car who simply can't get down on the ground and contort themselves to investigate a noise.
Been there. Checked it. Checked it again. Couldn't feel anything other than spinal pain. But it was there, out of reach. Fortunately, in my country this bit service was free like hospitals and universities.
I've been watching these videos ever since my high school auto shop teacher put me on almost three years ago. I'm now studying to become an automotive engineer and these videos give me so much inspiration for things to design to make mechanics' lives a little easier so thank you for being so consistent and helping me reach my goal every single week.
I had a little idea about people not changing oil. After 3000 miles over the recommended milage the engine won't start and you have to tow the car to the mechanic
@emmettturner9452 sadly, they go somewhere else and pass inspection. Those cars should be confiscated, and the owner should have the driving license revoked.
“I am a mechanic from Europe, specifically Poland, and I have never seen such things in my life. Sometimes a tire gets bald or the brake pads wear out. Furthermore, if a workshop encountered a situation like this, they would call the police, who would then deal with such a client.”
It's this thing called 'American Individualism', basically alot of people think they can do it themselves cheaper or know better than the professionals because, of course they are trying to rip them off. Or they "know a guy" who can do it cheaper, better, whatever. Another part of it is some people are too prideful or ignorant to admit they can't fix something on their own. The results are what you see here with the dangerous repairs, crazy diy 'fixes' and all that sprayfoam.
Poland isn't known for quality. All the vehicles i had seen with polish number plates on it looked not very safe and they shouldn't allowed to drive at all
while i disagree with people not caring about the safety of their vehicles, one of mine for instance is an 01 silverado work truck, it's not pretty on the outside because it worked all those years. but runs and drives like new, and beyond just 'safe on the road'. but you're talking removing our american constitution. something you do not have over there. protection from a tyrannical government where you can be arrested because your car isn't right. weigh the difference here.
None of this works, btw. Back when I worked in an auto body repair place we used to keep a tally of "deer whistle" cars vs non whistle cars. There's no difference. It's not like deer are trained to run away from a whistle, lol.
I worked on a GMC Acadia where the customer did that because they "didn't care about the 50 million codes in the PCM." It was towed in as a no start. I scanned it an all the codes were for cam/crank correlation. The timing chains stretched and snapped. This could have been prevented, but ultimately was caused by the customer's apathy.
Yup, amazing. It also stems from a complete lack of knowledge of how vehicles work, even the basics. A lot of people hop in, start it up and go, obilivous to the maintenance needed to keep it running.
I’m so glad that the MOT is a thing here in the UK. Cars get rusty here but I’ve never seen a car as bad as some of the rusty cars shown in these vids.
Unfortunately, South Carolina had an annual vehicle inspection program in place, back in the 1990s. It was so corrupted by fraud and incompetence that the state legislature repealed it as being totally ineffective. That is really a pity as a competent vehicle inspection program could have been effective at removing dangerous death traps from endangering the public.
I'm glad you did too because you would've spent your life financially broke, 99% of mechanics make less than a Mcdonald's shift manager while they buy $150,000 in tools/boxes.
Grandson bought a vehicle in missouri that was just inspected including emissions test. Rated right up with these cars. I had him take it to my mechanic to check it out muffler was not even connected. So bad braked engine mechanic did not charge for inspection so many things wrong.
@@barto6577 Sure, good luck fixing that issue. Or like I already noted, pre-inspection of the item would have found the issue. That falls on the buyer, not the seller. Sold as is, payed for as is.
Pizza is sacrificial. Rodents will eat that instead of wiring etc. Like putting an open jar of jam (jelly) nearby when you’re having a picnic to keep wasps away from your food.
3:36 I had a car come in for it's second oil change at 36,000 miles. First was the free change at the dealership at 3,000 miles. Cartridge filter was so sludged it glued itself to the rag used to replace it. Recommended several flushes and high mileage oil. Customer declined all and went with conventional because it still had low mileage. These people are on the road with us.
This is classic! Although not in the automotive industry, I worked as a shop manager for private golf clubs for 40 years. I wish now I would have video documented all the repairs we did from operator stupidity.
I spent 7 years in Germany during the 90's while in the Army. They had a vehicle inspection program called TÜV that had to be performed annually if I remember right. I had a car that failed inspection because of a few rusty spots on the body and in areas that were not even structural. I gave the car to a friend who was a mechanic before joining the Army and he fixed all the defects and got it past inspection. I was mad that I had to buy another car, but after watching these videos for a wile, I kind-of wish that we had TÜV inspections here in the US. I grew up in Detroit and EVERY car there was so rusted that they were more rust than metal.
It's every two years, back then we had also a separate AU (emission inspection) which could be at year 1 while the TÜV (or actually HU/HauptUntersuchung) could be at year 2 an so on
Greetings from NZ. 45yrs a mechanic and I have seen a lot. But, of course we never see the corrosion from the salt roads. I often wish the safety inspectors would watch these videos and not fail a tiny bit of surface rust on a chassis of a 1990 F150. They honestly do!
I really believe that mechanics should be mandated to report Those cars That could literally break in half at any moment, or not be able to brake because they have no rotors left to the police. These death traps are driving on the same highways at 70 MPH with our families on the road!
I remember a vid of a guy trying to return a bottle of "blinker fluid" to various stores because he said it was for a two-wheel drive, and he had a 4-wheel drive.
The first bike is the one that shocked me the most. My father worked for a tire wholesaler in the 70's and one of their biggest sellers were called "blem" tires. Basically a normal, perfectly good tire that had some cosmetic defect. Said they were a huge seller because they were a third of the price and you were going to scuff the tires on a curb at some point so who cares. And this wholesaler would by them tens of thousands at a time, whatever sizes they had he bought, EXCEPT motorcycle tires. He said guys would come in for bike tires and since this place was well known they would always explicitly demand, non-blem tires. Their logic was that even though they are perfectly good tires and it's only cosmetic, they only have 2 wheels and its just something that they couldn't get out of their mind. And no matter how many times they tried explaining it, no dice they wouldn't buy them. So seeing a bike in that condition, and the owner pissed the shop dared to bring up the safety issues, is just amazing to me.
@4:10 as a European I'm time and again baffled by the lack of rustproofing in the USA. We salt our roads in winter too but our cars don't rust out nearly as quickly.

I'd say they've only come to get an inspection now because a nice police officer told them it was that or get a ticket. "Ahem, so, sir, what you're saying is that this here vehicle has been off the road for the last year and you are just now taking it to get inspected..."
Last time I lived in Missouri they did inspections every 3 years so that might be the case or I also had friends that would pass ppl they knew without even looking at the vihicle

Imagine paying $50 or more, because you couldn't be bothered to bend down and check what was making a noise.

Their drivers should be banned from society as well
Should be confiscated.
