My dad suffered a stroke and became unable to move or talk on his own for the last 10 years of his life. The only exception was when my mom plays Because by Dave Clark Five and they sing together. Music has its ways of healing. All of us sang this song on his funeral as his final goodbye.
Already 33 years now when they hit the airwaves. Remember it playing as early as late 1990, but every time I hear the song takes me back to early 1991. I was already 14 can still remember everything that was a part of the 90s besides Freestyle music. I think of that time, kids I grew up with. Some are gone, some are married with kids, some of us lost our way only to find our way back. But really, takes me back to the moment I'm chillin in my room talking with a friend who was close like a sister. Wasn't till this song hit realized I liked her more than just as a friend, she felt the same. Yet nothing happened after the revelation, it was all on me. Never pulled the trigger cause I was too focused on other options. One regret I have to this day was never saying and showing how I truly felt. Lesson learned. It’s unbelievable how this song can still stand string and hit hard after all these years. Hits home no matter what. That nostalgic feeling when everything was alright but at the same time been able to afford to be broken hearted. Stevie B was and he will always hit hard.

Worked at Safeway as a courtesy clerk to pay rent to stay at friends parents house. I heard this playing at work. I felt so depressed and alone then. Brings back those emotions as a rejected kid.
