Great analysis, thank you! This is def one of my comfort shows. One of the biggest effects of abuse that stood out to me in FB was the loss of future that the characters feel--they are trapped in a kind of stasis, until they are able to let go of the cycle of abuse
fruits baskets are so amazing when it shows these kinds of topics that anyone can relate to. it helps me when I realized I had trauma from my family and seeing Yuki and machi's story hits me so close to home.
What a wonderful analysis! I was shocked when I saw that your channel is so small and "new" to content creation. Your research, editing and nuanced takes are so good. I hope you'll get more and more recognition because you really deserve it! Looking forward to your future videos.
I swear no matter how many time I watch the series and knowing how Akito does end up getting better and her past The genuine fear I feel every time she's on screen is real
The fact that I watched this series soon after recovering from a time of intense imposter syndrome and self sabotage and perfectionism, just because a friend had put it on (to rewatch himself) when he came to visit, proves that the universe works in mysterious ways. I related to SO many characters in this show and probably cried more throughout than I ever had in my own personal life. It was so cathartic to have a safe outlet to experience and explore emotions I don't feel comfortable feeling in my day to day life.
Honestly everything you said about Kyo reminds me so much of Yeonggi from the manhwa I love yoo. And he's even a ginger to boot. There's nothing like Fruits Basket when it comes to characters but I think this manhwa comes really close because it's also so much about abuse in families. _spoilers_ He is a child of an affair and was only raised by his mother until she hung herself and he blames himself for it (he'd get told that it's his fault). His half brother never accepted him, called him a mistake and nobody, his step mother hates and abuses him and his father doesn't show him any affection and only reminds him time and time again he's a disappointment. He has a monologue where he says he's a bad person and anyone who gets close to him gets hurt like it happened to his love interest (handled it in Kyo-fashion). And his brother is jealous of him for being a kind, bright and sweet person who everyone gravitates towards while Yeonggi is jealous of his brother because he's part of the family and not ostracized. It's funny cause I didn't read it in a while but this essay brought it back into memory
this analysis was wonderful, I can see you put a lot of work into it and it reminded me of how truly special Fruits Basket is and why it means so much to me. I wish this had more views but just hope you know that I thoroughly enjoyed this. And thank you for citing all your sources too! 💗
I ended up loving this show. I came across it one day while I was bored, and wanting something just for noise in the background while I cleaned. No cleaning was done that day, but I've watched the 3 seasons now at least 3 times
I love the way this show portrays trauma and healing. Thank you for this video! I'm currently rewatching FB showing it to my husband for this first time. I always related a lot to Yuki. His story helped me in my own healing journey!
Yuri and his mom really got me i never finished it and i mean that like i only watched various scenes of different seasons and the ending scene so idk the full thing about Yuki and his mom but there's something just off more rather than "Oh Yuki's mom is bad" i know it's dark but i never really watched the full anime episode by episode so idk and the anime is so unique the plot is simple and maybe even clitche with Tohru but it was able to show how it could do different things especially with Akito, Yuki, Kyo, Tohru's mom and Tohru's family, abuse, trauma and more
Furuba is one of my most favourite anime and it's very special. I've rewatched many times but I still enjoy it so much. The storyline is pretty dark and emotional, the characters portrayed so well. Shigure being one of the most fascinating, grey character. It's him playing chess the entire story . Kyo and Tohru being the best protagonist. Kyo's character has depth and the character development he has is ❤❤
Great video! I've also watched the other 3 you've posted so far! Good luck with becoming a great anituber! Regarding stories like Fruits Basket, if you haven't already, watch all of Bakemonogatari (start with the 3 movies and go from there) - you will find one of the most complex fictional characters in that story, and also, the one that becomes the absolute most tragic. Try to look past the fanservice, the pantyshots and other somewhat disturbing stuff and I guarantee you will discover one of the best stories/experiences ever.
as a year of the monkey i was unhappy that ritsu was basically a one and done character but as a taurus im happy my boy haru has any amount of screen time.
Masterfully done! I know you couldn’t hit all of the characters, but if you dove into a few others, like Shigure or Hatori, or if you could do more with Tohru and Akito, I’d definitely tune in!
Okay but the more i get older the more i relate to ritsu, the man is just a ball of anxiety. Though its kind of sad, he learned this behavior from his mother, who was always apologizing for him because he liked to wear girls clothing. Oh and akito is the worst.
Great analysis but one nitpick is that the Sohma family curse is based on the Japanese zodiac, not the Chinese zodiac. [The zodiac animals differ in various Asian cultures.]

@Sigma_Male_Anti_Female brilliant insight 🙄

Awesome analysis! Fruits Basket is truly special, I don't think I've ever experienced a story quite like this one

She's so masterfully done
I'm in the middle of my rewatch right now and Akito's appearances in season 1 still filled me with dread
Her theme is also a masterclass in beautiful but creepy which adds to her intimidation factor

This was absolutely beautiful! ❤ in your analysis of fruits basket is absolutely amazing I'm very happy of all the hard work you put into this video💝
so i wached all 3 of your videos, and i think its weird that you only have 667 subscribers ,thees videos are very good.
Great video! I've also watched the other 3 you've posted so far! Good luck with becoming a great anituber!

29:27. I love Ayame
I just saw a reaction of the show recently and i loved it
as a year of the monkey i was unhappy that ritsu was basically a one and done character but as a taurus im happy my boy haru has any amount of screen time.
The author admitted in one of the notes in the manga that she forgot about ritsu lol
Masterfully done! I know you couldn’t hit all of the characters, but if you dove into a few others, like Shigure or Hatori, or if you could do more with Tohru and Akito, I’d definitely tune in!
Amazing channel❤ hope you get more success!
What a great analysis!
I fucking hate that in the beginning they made Akito a bitch but in the end of the anime they make some sob story about her to make you feel bad
I mean generational trauma and people being products of their environment is kinda the point. You don't become like Akito because life's been great..
What’s that supposed to mean, exactly?
Great Video for One of My Favourite Animes so far.
last 2 weeks ago.. ive done watchign this but can't moved on❤❤❤
Okay but the more i get older the more i relate to ritsu, the man is just a ball of anxiety. Though its kind of sad, he learned this behavior from his mother, who was always apologizing for him because he liked to wear girls clothing.
Oh and akito is the worst.
Excellent analysis
Great study loved it
Great analysis thank you
Damn. Didn't know this manga was hilariously dark.
Yea its kind of a shock the first time you read it it starts out so light and then midway through does a 180 and your like holy shit
Watching all your vids so you get more exposure.
Great video 👍
