Back in my nursing days, I would cut through the alcohol prep pads package then used the prep pad to finish up the job. Since the package was foil, this would not only degunk, clean and sanitize my scissors, it would help keep them sharp!
Great tip! 🌼 That glue & residue remover/eraser would also work great on craft mats and anything else that gets all gummed up 👍🏼✅ --I was super jazzed to find Fiskar's "Teflon" scissors (Walmart--about $8) NON-STICK scissors--WHY did it take all these years to think of THAT??? I absolutely love them --kinda like getting my first set of T-fal non-stick pans--transformed cooking and cleaning up forever--wooohooo!
My goodness thank you so much I had sticky stuff on my dies and when I went to cut with them all the little holes would hold everything because of the sticky residue this worked great you're a lifesaver thank you so much
Adhesive remover , little packets you can get nursing or being nursed where you have a lot of bandaging & have all that stickiness can use on skin & is hands down the best remover for anything like labels ‼️You can usually pick it up at a medical supply place might be kinda pricey but let me tell you how well it works ‼️‼️I would of never of thought of that eraser .I have a couple but I really don't like them they don't seem to work for certain things ‼️
My adhesive eraser didn't work. What did work was soaking a paper towel in isopropyl alcohol, wrapping it around the sticky parts, and letting it sit for a while. I read that it's important to use isopropyl alcohol. I was able to wipe off the adhesive and my scissors are back to normal. The scissors can be soaked in alcohol. A caution is if alcohol is used, be careful because the brad holding the scissors together can dry out.
Hi Nora - I’m sorry your adhesive eraser didn’t work to help clean your scissors. I’m glad, though, that you found a solution that works for you. Thanks for sharing your findings! 😊
Awesome Cathy. Just in time too because I was thinking my scissors are getting pretty gunky. I don't have an eraser like that but I'll put it on my list. So I'm gonna need a tiny first aid kit for my scissors...adhesive eraser, alcohol prep pads and a bandaid because I'm sure I'll cut myself knowing me. lol Thanks for the tip. :-)
Now, Laurie… don’t say that… You will be careful and NOT cut yourself, silly girl! I do think you’ll like that adhesive eraser. 😉 Thanks for watching. 😊
Dear Cat.❤ that's fabulous. I wonder if a regular eraser would work, I'll have to try it. Normally I use nail polish remover, ( catch, it don't actually wear nail polish)🤭, or Eucalyptus oil. I've been making my own pattern backgrounds using markers. Trying to do 100 different patterns on 1/2 sheets of printer paper. 🖍📚 much love always, see you soon.🇦🇺❤💜💙💚💛🧡✌
Thanks, Claire. Unfortunately. I think a regular eraser will just smear the adhesive, not remove it. Sounds like you’re having lots of fun! Have a happy, creative day! 😊
@@CatHand ok, thanks, Cat 🤗 think I'll just stick to nail polish remover. No pun intended. Finished a crochet throw for my sofa, tomorrow, maybe markers and or sewing. 🤭💜💙💚💛🧡❤🇦🇺
Hi Cheryl - I’ve never had a good result cutting through aluminum foil to sharpen my scissors. I bought a scissor sharpener that works pretty well, though. I put it in my Amazon store, if you want to check it out: www.amazon.com/shop/cathand
@@1972TJJ even at Dollar general good scissors cost like $5 & instead of using my gas up that would cost about$8 for 2 gallons of gas to get there & back because my vehicle is a gas hog, it's cheaper to use sandpaper. 😀
Love your quick tips! Sometimes these little details make the difference between arts/crafts fun and frustration.

thank you so much for the tip! i didn't own an adhesive eraser, i used a normal eraser instead and it worked like magic! hope it helps :D
You are very welcome! Glad your normal eraser worked for you! 😊

Cutting through sandpaper seems to work.

Honest question here. If the scissors are only $1-$2 wouldn't it be easier to simply buy another pair?

Good tip because I keep those in the art room. My scissors are the worst!
Thanks, Cat!
