Can the government sort out the begging issue at the airport. They may need to train the staff or get rid of many of them. It's ridiculous the image they portray of our country. Nigeria Airport is the only place where I get asked for money by the airport staff

Well, for me, it is an overdue issue, the reason being that the stress level people go through at this airport is unbearable for this very fact that the infrastructure is outdated. In order to compensate for the delay that might be incurred in using the new terminal due to its small capacity, the government should see this as a matter of necessity to ensure that the time taken to process your flight right from the time you arrive at the airport is fast and efficient.

They can also support the new terminals with the local terminals, we have 2 in Lagos, all they'll do is to station some immigration & other officials there till the old terminal gets fixed.
Thank you for this update, to be honest i really don't know why those bigger airlines are extremely stubborn. In Doha airport Qatar, the airplanes don't get to the terminal, it parks by the run way & we're been carried by the airport or airline buses same as flying out, why can't the same be done at MMA2, i've witnessed many airports like that, why are they making it a big deal in Nigeria ? i guess the govt must be really ash on them bcos if those airline companies really care about their customers, they'll never want us to experience the old terminal anymore bcos it is extremely disgusting.
Well sir or ma, it's the job of the airport authorities to provide such buses to convey customers. They pay the FAA for the use of the jet bridges. So don't fault the airlines

They should close that airport for good. Whenever I go through MMIA I develop serious headache and extreme exhaustion due to lack of AC and chaotic situations everywhere

Im American and just came back from Lagos. We used the new terminal coming back because there was a fire at the old terminal. It was soooo much better.

I remember arriving at the old terminal from Europe in 2011 and the strong smell of urine hit us all. Some of the passengers were screaming!! It was so bad!!
The excuse was, the air conditions were not working😮.
It was so sad!! So this has being long overdue!!
I just read that they are keeping part of the old terminal, D Wing, open! Have you heard anything about that? Is it true? I will be flying on United Airlines. Do you have any idea which airlines will be kept at D Wing? Looking forward to your next airport update. I travel there the end of next month!

Closed for renovation in Nigeria is like waiting for thy kingdom come.
Mile 2 road has been in renovation for more than 10yrs and till thy kingdom come it will not finish.

I will be traveling to the US and am nervous
I think this has been long overdue. The fact that they didn't mention when the renovation will take place for terminal 2 or when it will open back up is code for no funding and no plan is in place. So technically, we all in the dark. Hopefully they will surprise us in 10-15yrs lol 🤣. Thanks for keeping us up to date Sassy and for keeping it real!

Demolish and build a new main terninal by PPP. Easily done. If the new lekki airport gets built by lagos stTe and is of a better standard. A patched up murtala Mohammad terminal one will be avoided by many passengers like a plague.

I am sure from yesterday more than half of theMMA will be closed l was at the airport when fire gutter it yesterday 06/09/23 am they have to evacuate us into the new beauty terminal. The experience was too sad no causality but 3hours delay for virgin passengers l do not know of other airline it was chaotic.

I think the renovation of the old MMIA, could be fixed in 6 months if the government really wants to want it fixed by giving a stipulated deadline to be would be contractors, since is the toilet, bathroom and the air-conditioning unit are the important thing to be fixed.
I agree. Something tells me though that they will need to phase the renovations and leave some parts of the old airport open due capacity issues at the old terminal

That old airport terminal 1 needs to be bulldozed. It's ugly sightseeing for anybody coming in to Nigeria. First impression last long. People that traveled around the world will see that terminal as the most dirtiest terminal and its very awful for the airport staff to be asking for money while tearing a little piece of tissue for you to use in the toilet. It's a big shame.
