As-salamu alaikum Brother Ali I don’t know if you’re reading this but listening to you as a young teen laid the foundation for my recent conversion to Islam. I’m very new and still learning but thank you and Allah (SWT) for sewing that seed.

      As-salamu alaykum
Thank you for your reply! I’ll try to be as brief as I can but I’m not great at that. If something is unclear or you have questions just let me know. I can give you my email or something, I don’t have much social media
I was raised pretty intensely as atheist after I was diagnosed with high risk leukemia at 11 and it kind of broke my mom.
She was basically raising me and my siblings alone and dealing with my health and potential death for years.
I went through treatment basically from 11-19, and hip hop, particularly the “underground” or whatever you would call it was really what kept me grounded and helped put the world in perspective. And artists like yourself helped me see Islam in a positive light while exposing US imperialism.
My view on hip hop doesn’t work the same way anymore but I thought you were the GOAT for a long time. I know that’s not the goal but I really was amazed by your combination of lyrical density and lyrics and songs that truly resonated.
I’ve had the idea of converting in the back of my head for along time, but it wasn’t until I was able to think about the idea of a “God” existing with the natural logic that would follow that I understood how flawed the atheist view is without that perspective.
And it all clicked into place, and from there Islam is the only religion that actually makes sense, especially seeing the character and wisdom of people like yourself compared to the blatant anti-Muslim propaganda that is used to keep people supporting the imperialism.
And Islam truly seems like the antithesis of the western commercialist capitalist ideology, so much so that it reinforces the fact that it is the truth.
      Salam

@@BrotherAli_TravelersI have been trying to reply twice but my comment is not showing up. It may have been due to being critical of certain government regimes or maybe idk how UA-cam works anymore.

Atheist here - appreciate so much the opportunity to hear a long, intimate conversation with this young man I have admired for SO long. I am sure I was one of the people who helped make Reverse Racism go viral by sharing it around the world for a decade and a half. Thank you.

Aamer is a pure fire genius. Just truth without compromise. I remember "volunteer Nazi safety advocate" and both cracking up and the sense of relief that someone had so succinctly summarised the whole liberal, politics as a game aesthetics and its failures. Hope you're successful in convincing him to get back in the game, comedy needs a spine right now.

I feel this so deeply. With an Aboriginal/Irish mother and a Lebanese/Palestinian father growing up in Australia I always felt out of place and like home was somewhere in my heart/culture and not in society. Adore you and your deeping it conversations/music.
Me and my brother J always talk about your music and pods at work, big love all the way from this weird island 🤲🏽🙏🏽🤎

i believe lots of folks just think that israel/palestine is out there, that's not our battle.
right? we're small minded in that sense, no? it's not happening to us here, so who cares?
i was at a party a few months ago.. more like a get together..
towards the end of the evening, when most guests left, and it was just myself and the host,
and a couple of others.. i was talking about it, partially inebriated, babbling, possibly rambling..
and 2 people sorta cut me off like, "why do you care so much? why are you so passionate about it?"
