    A quick clarification: one overlooked detail in this video that is covered in the rulebook is that you cannot bind books if you have burned a letter that round.

    I had a question about chain attacks in the illiterati attack phase: Are words still considered words if they have been broken apart? For example, let's say you have the word "BOOK" and the first attack in the chain removes a letter from it, making it "BOK". Then the second attack in the chain has you pick a word to discard. Would you be allowed to discard "BOK"? Or would that not be allowed because "BOK" is no longer a word? Also, say you have word "CAT" and the first attack removes a letter to make it "AT". Would "AT" still be considered a word even though it no longer meets the 3 letter minimum requirement? Also why are each of the illiterati characters numbered in series? Is that just to make keeping track of your cards easier, or is there some sort of resolution order to chain attacks based on the numbers?

    • @gapclosergames13
      @gapclosergames13  Рік тому

      We'll release a detailed FAQ on this and other questions, bit in short no, "BOK' is no longer a word during the chain attack and would not be impacted by attacks that target words specifically. The numbering and gems on the villains are most likely going to come into play in future expansions, but do not impact current gameplay.

    We played tonight for the first time - if you fail to bind either the red or blue book in the opening rounds do you discard it and try another or do you keep trying the same one the following round? Secondly if you can't fulfill the villain's requirements - e.g 'discard a noun, verb and adj' but you dont have a verb do you automatically lose or just ignore that?

    • @gapclosergames13
      @gapclosergames13  Рік тому

      Great Questions. Players keep their book until completed (taking multiple rounds to complete a book is not unusual). And if you "can't" complete a villain's requirements you've effectively dodged it (part of strategy at times).

    So in solo game, I need to complete one red and one blue then draw another for the final chapter?

    • @gapclosergames13
      @gapclosergames13  Рік тому

      Yep - Presuming you're playing on Normal Difficulty. The primary change for solo is that you draw 10 tiles per round instead of 7.

      Let say I need to bind a red book that requires 8+ letters with 3 purple symbols, with Military & Weapons term. So on my turn, I managed to get 8+ letter words that falls into the required terms, but not enough symbols. So I put the letters into the discard bag, and still could not bind that book. Next round, I start back from the beginning? Or it was already count that I completed the 8+ letters requirements, thus only need to get the 3 purple symbols?

    • @gapclosergames13
      @gapclosergames13  Рік тому +1

      @@avardamir To Clarify - You don't discard completed words between rounds (even if they aren't related to your book) as they carry forward. Unused letters, misspelled words or invalid words (if any) are moved into the Library, and after "burning" 1 letter, you would then discard any additional letters over the Library Limit from the Library. Then during the Illiterati Attack Phase some of your words may be impacted (in part or in full), but that's after you've already done the Burn and Discard Phase.
      Essentially, you could have spelled "SWORD" and "CHARGE" but not had the "sword" symbol requirement satisfied, and next round "SWORD" and "CHARGE" would still be in play.

      @@gapclosergames13 thanks for replying. We played last night and really enjoyed it. Are we supposed to do the illiterate effects from every card each round or only the last one drawn? So we have attempted to play this twice but are a bit confused. We have made words, burned a letter if needed had an illiterati attack BUT when you start the round again to be able to bind books do you give your self 7 tiles again or the equivalent of the 5 + 7 as in the first round? The instructions don’t indicate this at all. I presume the illiterati attack reduces you letters in play but you can’t get them back each round? Also with the final chapter we get that you have to all be able to complete the book but, is there illiterati attacks in that and if you can’t complete the final chapter how do you get different tiles to be able to do this instead of the same tiles…or…do you just turn over another card and try again? Some clarification would be great as we have read the instructions but it isn’t making sense on what to do.

    • @gapclosergames13
      @gapclosergames13  Рік тому

      Great questions! You draw 7 new tiles at the start of each round (the game starts you with 5, and then you draw 7 in round 1, 7 in round 2, etc). When you get to the Final Chapter, gameplay continues as previously (each Phase - Word Building, Book Binding (if possible) and Illiterati Attack), so you still get new letters each round. The only difference is all players are working on the same book (Final Chapter) and have to bind it (turn it in) during the same round. Hope this helps.

    • @blackbirdandthehun2621
      @blackbirdandthehun2621 Рік тому

      @@gapclosergames13 great thanks, it isn’t explicit in the instructions that this happens. Also with the final chapter if we don’t bind the book together it is a burned book and we have to choose another one or do we survive the illiterati attack get new letters and continue on same final chapter?

    • @gapclosergames13
      @gapclosergames13  Рік тому +1

      @@blackbirdandthehun2621 You're welcome. With the final chapter, you keep the same book until you complete it or lose the game. After surviving the Illiterati attack, you would draw new letters, and continue with the same final chapter. In most games, it should take you 2-3 rounds to complete.

    I have a rules clarification. Does anyone know what happens when you burn a letter? It doesn't clearly state what happens. Is just the tile gone? Do you remove all copies of that letter in play? Do you discard any drawn in the future? My wife and I played a game on easy for our first game and never burned a letter, but we want to try hard mode now.

    • @gapclosergames13
      @gapclosergames13  Рік тому +2

      When you burn a letter, simply put it on the burn tile tracker - it is now out of play. This doesn't impact other copies of that letter. Burning Tiles serves primarily as a way of keeping track of "lives", with a small added downside of having 1 less letter tile to work with going forward.
