I always thought Snorlax was loosely based on an ogre or troll. It is only in the Monster egg group and it often blocks passages as an obstacle like the troll from the story Billy Goats Gruff. It also has a ravenous appetite, something ogres and trolls often have too.

Well it is the Unovan equivalent to Aries, which is a ram. Though as someone else mentioned, since it's a Fairy type as well, it could also be a Satyr which are basically Greek humanoid goat fairies.

Electabuzz may be partially based on an Oni, but it also shares some design elements with an infamous kaiju named Guila.

It makes me so glad to know I'm not the only one who's really into pokemon inspirations and meanings- and that I don't have to correct wrong definitions in the comments when watching your videos! Wish I could double subscribe, honestly.

I would argue Whimsicott is more a type of Satyr, a (greek) mythological animal typically associated with fairies, whimsy, and parties. Also, Typhlosion's flame collar is also the way it is because it's like a Punk leather Jacket with a fur collar (something like you'd more commonly see in Japanese Anime, or how the Biker trainer has sometimes been designed).
I also believe there is some Native American legend mixed in with Sigilyph's design. I can't say which exactly, but the description and color choice very much seems to reflect that, let alone the design matches a pattern you might find on native souvenirs and such. Clearly it is influenced by the great bird Nazca line, but I just think Game Freak Mixed the legends. Stunfisk is also based on a Japanese Troll-face Emoji.
I'm also surprised you didn't do the commonly questioned or mischaracterized Sableye and Mawile... but I guess you did just explain Mawile too as the Futakuchi-Onna/Two-mouthed Woman. Also maybe people understand what they are supposed to be now. I remember people use to think Sableye was supposed to be a Zombie or a shadow person, but it's actually based on American Mythology (which surprises people often) and is supposed to be the Hopkinsville Goblin.
I don't think its necessarily more of a Satyr, since they're also typically depicted as half goat or ram. Its more like a double-meaning, the two concepts play into each other rather nicely. Don't forget, the fae are also tricksters, even to the point of being dangerous. That's why Whimsicott also gets prankster.
Game Freak is pretty good at mixing concepts like that, its really not very often a Pokemon's inspiration is clearly one thing or another. It can be hard to tell where one ends and another begins.

They are usually a mix of things (And I guess, more specifically I meant a Faun than Satyr, but I figured more people would know what a Satyr looked like) . I just don't know if I wanted to say it was only a sheep or ram (and I would think the Greek Mythology is more interesting). I mean, you can also say it is based on Cotton as it looks like a fluff of cotton picked from the plant. However, I am pretty sure the fairy aspect is from it being a Faun/Satyr, and even though they aren't officially known as trickster gods... they kind of are. I'm sure I've heard of tales of prank stories from them in literature and pop culture depictions, let alone stories of tricking people into having sex with them.
Obviously, Pokemon is not Shin Megami Tensei so they aren't going to show that side of them (lol, the sex side), but as I stated, also known for Whimsy and Parties. One surprising thing I learned about Pokemon is a lot more are based on Mythology or have aspects of Mythology than we tend to think. I know in the past there were plenty I thought were just an animal or based on one thing, but actually had a lot more to it. (So you are definitely right about that)

Not the origin of all of a Pokemon, but I think the origin of Charmander's flame and why it dies when it goes out is representative of cold blooded animals who need to bask in the sun to heat up their body.

Great video! If i could make a suggestion, i would say maybe have a wider selection of music tracks? I don't meant to be negative, but it sounds like you use a lot of the same remixes in your videos, and i think music is one of the best qualities in your videos. It seems like a lot of the same music is reused tho which i think if you changed every now and then would drastically improve your videos. Other than that great job yet again!

Thanks for specifying Mudkip. I hate how so many people spread misinformation that it's based on an axolotl. It's a mudskipper. Wooper is actually the one based on axolotl. This is proven to be fact because of the sensors it has on both sides of its head and the lack of arms, which is a nod to axolotl's ability to grow back limbs.
