  • Join Chris & I as we head out in to the Peak District for one last forage before Winter comes to an end! The cold snap last week has brought about lots of lovely new flushes of mushroom, so now is a great time to head out in to the woods to see what you can find.
    If you enjoy learning about wild food and medicinal plants & fungi, then do consider subscribing as I'll have plenty more videos coming now we are just about to enter the peak of foraging season over the next couple on months!
    Please remember to never eat any wild food, be it plant, fruit or fungi, unless you are 100% certain of its identity and always cross check your resources. Always do research before taking herbs internally, especially if you are pregnant, have severe allergies or a weakened immune system. Finally, remember to take only what you need from places of abundance, and always leave plenty for the wildlife too.

    Subscribed. My kind of video. Honey fungus is edible too if I remember correctly. Puffballs are one of my favourites and the only ones I would dare eat. I've never seen earth stars yet. My 4 yr old granddaughter and I collected wild garlic leaves last week and made garlic butter that she wolved down on toast and by the spoonful! Have a super day you two!

      Yes you’re right they are! Puffballs are great aren’t they? How do you eat yours? 😄

      @@danniinthewild Haven’t tasted them for decades but I think fried with a bit of crispy bacon probably would do the job. Actually met a hiker last year (Polish I believe ) who had picked some and was confirming what they were. When fully mature their spore dissemination is just fascinating.

    Thanks for the video. I would like to ask if there is a serious tick problem in UK forests? Do you need to pull your socks on your trousers?

      @danniinthewild  5 місяців тому

      I wouldn’t say serious but there are definitely more repots each summer. I am a fan of the sock tuck in though! 🙌🏾🧦
