I've gotta say Ben, you're an awesome mentor! Congrats Luke! Your buck looks just like my first buck. I was so excited that I got his head mounted. I've gotten over 50 deer since. Still trying to find one that makes me as excited as my first spike!
+Jeffrey McKee Thanks for sharing about your first deer Jeff ! It's pretty hard to top the excitement of our first buck. Thanks for watching and your comment of support. Much appreciated!!
campbenny it’s amazing what you guys go through to get a deer , I hunted one day last year when the high was 17 degrees but at least the ground was not snow covered, here in NC , the limit was two deer a day and this year they changed that , it is now that you can kill four a day , the one thing that is really different now from when I was young, forty years ago, is there are less and less places that you can hunt each year, because of the population boom , and if here you can get three acres to hunt, you are lucky , some leases here bring fifty dollars and acre, and you are lucky if there are any mature deer on it.
Absolutely fantastic video as always. So awesome to see someone get their first deer. Brought back memories for me. This is what hunting is all about. Thanks for sharing such a special moment. Regards Mark
Congrats Luke ! I look forward to these videos all year. I'm heading up this weekend to iosco county for my first sit of the year hoping for a doe. Can't wait for part 2!!!!!!!!
Been watching your videos in reverse and i dont remember seeing Luke again. Am i wrong? Just wondering why he wouldn't come back after such a great first time at camp? Love the videos as always.
See part 2 of the 2022 hunt. Luke shoots a doe. Also, he shoots a buck somewhere around 2019 or maybe 2018 I believe. He skipped this year and we'll be sure to give him plenty of crap for it. I think he had a Tupperware party or something he needed to attend instead of going to deer camp lol
Bravo! Congrats on the success! This was my first year deer hunting and I was up in the UP for the opening Wednesday through Friday. Saw a doe, but with a buck only tag that was not an option. I live in Wisconsin but my grandma has some land off M35 between Gwinn and Negaunee, and I went up for my first deer hunting experience because I knew the first time would be best in the UP. So after a unsuccessful UP deer hunting trip I got invited to go with a coworker who has private land near where I live in Wisconsin. Ended up shooting my first deer 20 mins into the opening day and it was a 6 pointer! Awesome when deer respond well to the deer calls. I found your videos by doing a search of UP Deer hunting in a vlog style and your videos are a perfect match! Love the adventure and preparation behind all the hunts. Where abouts in the UP is Camp Benny? Like nearest city? Might be close to my little deer camp! Can't wait to see Part 2!
I got lost. You had the deer camp with the young guys and the hard hunting of the UP.... Then you had the old guys halting of the Perminent blinds that seemed really comfortable...
very cool video, i moved from the Rochester hills area to the eastern UP and love it as i am an avid hunter and fisherman. i am gearing up for the 2018 hunting season and ready to mentor my kid this weekend for his youth hunt tomorrow morning. keep them coming i enjoyed watching. in what area is your camp?
This has nothing to do with this particular video but another video you have that the comments are turned off for. I have a '98 Silverado 3500 dually 4x4 8bolt and want to convert from DRW to SRW. You did it and was wondering if you can give me more information on how you did yours. Thanks for you time.
I'm glad you commented about this. I had no idea UA-cam shutoff commenting on that video. I turned it back on for future reference. Keep in mind that I did that conversion once and about 15 years ago so my memory may not be perfect but I'm quite certain that I simply swapped out the FRONT axle only. I recall looking at the guy that told me that like he was nuts. Something to do with the front hubs if I recall correctly. That probably sounds strange but i'd bet if you put a tape on non dually front axle and vs a dually front axle that you will see a difference. Please comment back what you find because you are not the only one that has asked this. Sorry that I don't know with 100% certainty but I will say i'm 99% certain. Good luck !!
I did a quick google search as well and it said the following : "You can leave the DRW rear axle in the truck if you don't mind the track width of the back tires being a little wider than the front. Just get your new tires and wheels, remove the front dually wheel adapters, exchange your bed for a SRW bed and do the swap."
@@campbenny I don't have to swap the bed thankfully, just remove the fenders because these were bolt-on. I don't mind the track with at all since it's so minimal that it would hardly be noticed at all. So just the front hubs I can swap with non dually front hubs, great. So for the rear, I don't have to touch the hubs at all?
@@funguy7979 I'm pretty sure that's right. I don't recall changing anything in the rear. I do recall wondering if studs were going to be different or even the drums but i'm pretty sure i didn't need to touch any of it in the end. Just the front hubs and then done. Good luck man !
+Emma Whitcomb My beaglewear is actually several years old. I plan to replace it with a Bigwoods bucks jacket and cape soon. Have you seen their stuff? Thanks for watching!!
Im confused he said hes a legal buck in this video. But last year the guy shot a spike.. So wat is legal ther.. Here it has to have atleast 3 points on 1 side main beam not counting brow tines
We had basically the same harvest laws in our part of Eastern Washington State, Mule Deer. The State changed the laws to 3 point or better (6point eastern count) and holy hell it's nice.. . Our quality of deer changed dramatically in 3 years. The guys shooting spikes and 2 points for years are killing nice 4 point (8 eastern) or better bucks regularly and putting a lot more in the freezer.
I've gotta say Ben, you're an awesome mentor! Congrats Luke! Your buck looks just like my first buck. I was so excited that I got his head mounted. I've gotten over 50 deer since. Still trying to find one that makes me as excited as my first spike!

+roger martin It's coming along. Should be up within a couple weeks. About 75% of the way there now. Thanks for watching !
+roger martin Actually, I made great headway on it tonight. I may upload it tomorrow afternoon.
Very nice! Clean kill- no meat damage. Hey, are you by water? Looks like an Osprey nest on the power lines. 29:42
There is a small lake nearby. Thanks for your comment. Much appreciated. Good luck this season!

Where did you get your beagle out door where it looks new. The company was just up the road from where I live in Vermont
+Emma Whitcomb My beaglewear is actually several years old. I plan to replace it with a Bigwoods bucks jacket and cape soon. Have you seen their stuff? Thanks for watching!!
This is her dad Howard we have always used beagle but they went out of business a few years ago I'll look into bigwoods thanks
Heck yeah Luke!!
+bs431980 Thanks for watching!!
Is this private or state land
Both but mostly public land
didn't sound like heavy caliber? .223?
22-250 Remington. Thanks for watching !
What camera are you using to record with thanks!
Tony Bundy I used several different cameras in this video. Much of it was filmed with a Panasonic Lumix fz300. It's water and dust resistant.
Thanks and safe huntin bub.
You too. Thanks for watching !
Would you consider letting someone with muscular dystrophy come out on a hunt with you folks?
I have a friend that is part of a foundation that offers something like this. I could put you in touch if you wanted to send me an email.
Im confused he said hes a legal buck in this video. But last year the guy shot a spike.. So wat is legal ther.. Here it has to have atleast 3 points on 1 side main beam not counting brow tines
Combo license has antler point restrictions here.. Single tags do not. Does that clarify ?
thought it was 3 points or better through the entire up ?????
+George Hembree Only on the combo license. Luke had a single buck tag.
Correct if you have a combo license. If have a single buck tag you can shoot any leagal buck.

Luke is my nephew. Good luck this season !
