Thank you so much for this video Eric! I’m a 72 year old woman & bought one of these pedals in excellent condition 2 weeks ago to use with my acoustic electric ukuleles. You explain things very clearly & take your time which is very important in my opinion. I’ve looked at other videos & ended up more confused than when I started & it was such a relief to find your video which I will watch many times. Thank you once again! 🥰🎶
thank you so much for the tutorial ,its a breath of fresh air when you find someone actually talking and showing you how to use this product instead of some dude just jamming out and not showing anything other than how bad he sucks at playing guitar ,that being said a thumbs up for leaving your mess ups in your playing and not an edit every three sec, im sure its not easy to play and explain what your doing at the same time , thumbs +subbed
I appreciate your low-key and detailed run-through of this pedal's switches and functions. Will watch this demo again a few times while waiting for mine to arrive. Want to be ready to goof around with it when it gets here. Then I'll underline and highlight the instructions in order to master the thing as you have demonstrated. Will be fun to have a drummer and bass player in the living room all winter whenever I feel like having them help me fill out a riff idea. (You're one Sub closer to a YT plaque now.)
A great job Eric in explaining it in simple terms for an old school musician like myself. Just focusing on what the pedal does without introducing other songwriting and recording technologies like a DAW. 🙌
Outstanding video. Loved the info and your presentation style. My wife is French Canadian and my mother-in-law is from France. She is a retired university professor that taught language in France. I'm from Texas and she absolutely hates my southern English. She is always putting us down for our pronunciations. I was playing your video while she was visiting today. And it totally wigged her out that you were pronouncing "genre" with a "g" or "j". She kept screaming at the screen: IT'S PRONOUNCED "ZHON-RAH". NOT "JOHN-RAH". And both my wife and I were rolling on the floor laughing every time she did it. She finally stormed out of the room and refused to come back until I stopped the video. I told my wife that now that I know her button, it will probably get pushed every time she visits. Thanks for the additional entertainment here at home. And again, thanks for all the videos. Keep 'em coming.
Respect to you Eric. This will give me courage to get one. I am singer songwriter who can only see me playing alone so this demo really fascinated me. I thought you were excellent and thoughtful. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a bit unfair.
Great video. I have a whole series on the TRIO on my channel and it never ceases to amaze me how engaged the audience is for this pedal. Die hard fans for sure!
Thanks for commenting! I have watched your videos! Really good stuff. I am also surprised at how interested folks are. It is an awesome pedal for sure.
Many thanks for such a clear explanation video. This looper has so many features, and that makes it confusion. But you really cleared things up. Thanks again!
@@steveworley2997 It worked great, but I did end up selling it after about 6 months. It all seems cool at first, but then I just got kind of tired of using it.
Compared to me, you’re so far ahead of the curve it’s not even funny. I stumbled across this thing a month ago and I’m certain I’ve not scratched the surface of Trio+ capabilities. I’m not a techie type, so between this and my digital amp, I probably won’t live long enough to really get them “down” LOL
Thank Eric , for the Detailed Demo of this Pedal looper and Drummer and Band all in one we appreciate your Patience and great explanation of the Pedals . Sarkis
Thank you Eric. Very clear and helpful demo. I purchased one a year ago and never really understood it so I set it aside. After watching your video, I'm ready to start using.
Greetings from Down Under and thanks for this fantastic video, Eric. I have had a Trio Plus for a few years - this is the first time I've understood how to use it! Could you please do a short follow up video on how to create a loop without the band (for practice). thanks Chris
Great video. The best review/demo I've seen so far on this. I've been thinking about buying one and you've gone in to so much detail about it's features I might just get one :-)
The thing I like most about this pedal is... Ya don't have to put up with the base players attitude and the drummer won't quit cause he got his girl friend pregnant. It's genius but it has turned me into a basement hermit. LoL
I just bought one and love using it @ gigs but wondering is there a way I could use it live without prerecording all my loops. Sometimes have others playing I don’t know ahead of time what they will do and would be nice to create backup on the fly.
thank you Eric excellent video iv been looking for a pedal with drums and a bass ... i was wondering can you use a bass with it and can you alter the drum kit thank you again
Hi, thank you for your informations, i already have beatbuddy and i love it, i just bought a trio plus to create the bass sections, but while play together with beatbuddy and trio (just the bass sections) they lose the syncronization vetween them, is there anyway to syncronize the tempo between them?? thank you so much
Great review. I've owned Trio v1 and v2, this would be my desert island pedal if I could only bring one. Something that is missed about this pedal is it actually has more than 12 memory locations. In fact is has 60 in all, even though that wouldn't be practical. Each of the five slots for 'parts' can be used autonomously, so each slot (memory location) can have five completely different tempos, drum/bass and loops. If a person wanted to use this in a club they might only need two slots for a song leaving three for another tune. The only real limitation is the SD card size regarding what each slot can record.
This is how I typically use the pedal. I just record little practice parts I want to loop over in the different slots. I do this more so than recording full song arrangements in the different parts.
I've had mine a few years, put it away 'cause so hard to figure out how to use it. Dug it out again. How do you clear everything out w/out doing a factory reset, I even tried that, holding down the buttons at top left & right while unplugging & plugging back in, didn't work.
You can hold down the button for the band or looper for two or more seconds to clear them. You can do the same for the song part buttons. I am not sure if there is a way to have it clear all parts of all songs with a single button push.
Is there a way to make the TRIO+ continuously replay (loop) an entire song with several learned parts? For me it only plays the song through once and then stops. For practicing I need the song to loop. I tried teaching it the whole song (40 measures), but perhaps due to being more than 32 bars it makes mistakes in chord changes towards the end of the song. Thanks for any help!
Are the reccomendstions for each style always the same but just transposed to the key you play in? All the band instruments sound the same to me (same drum kit, same bass sound, is this the case? and can you apply effects to the band instruments?
Great comment about the Power Supply. I run three 12VDC boxes a drum machine, H90 and Le Clean. The power supplies don't deliver current that I need. I get undercurrent error lights. I need a PS that delivers more current and the Chinese ones do NOT.

I keep mine out on a desk with every thing plugged in (apart from the adaptor ) ready for action ...Oh and if your not using headphones ...which is how I mostly use it...then a real Valve amp will sound rubbish you need a PA speaker (which I don't own anymore)...I sometimes use my Blackstar bluetooth I.D core practice amp ...although I've had passable results with My Roland Jazz chorus tranny amp with gives it a nice stereo effect...
There is at least one power supply on the market which has an output of 9V / 600mA. You can use a cable which combines two outputs and thus achieves 1,2 A and so you can put the trio on your pedalboard.
Hi I have a question. I'm a relative beginner, 18 months into my journey, I have Trio+. Whilst this demo is very good it doesn't address an area I'm interested in. Can I play a song, just the chords, and create the drum and bass accompaniment so that I can play it to my family and friends. If so how do I do it and how many songs could I store and lastly how do I retrieve them. Thanks
Can anyone do a video showing how to use the trio plus in a real time live band situation as a looper only (no bass or drum tracks) for continuing a rhythm while you play a lead part over it? Many thanks if anyone can help!
Really appreciate the tutorial man! Question - is there a way to delete the 1st/initial loop (not the overdub) without deleting/stopping the "band" track?
Nice demo. Danish Pete is the looper master. I have Trio+ and it is friggin awesome. Also, you have the Telecasster I want. I have the Pedaltrain Nano+ along with 4 Boss pedals and they fit flush to the side.
I have been using the Boss Micro BR-80 for a number of years for private practice. In my view it offers a lot more usable functionality than the Digitech Trio+. It can even be used as an audio interface. Unfortunately the user interface sucks the big one and it will not run off USB power. I would love to redesign that thing for 2023, but unfortunately Roland (Boss) do not have a good reputation for listening to it's customers.
One thing so far and I watched about 3 videos of this pedal now, is will it do only loops with NO BAND?? I would imagine so, and if so it is a bargain for the price for all it can do.
Great review, but did I get that correct (at about 17:30 to 17:56), that the looper only stores one progression at a time (and at each song part) and then automatically stops recordung? With 5 of such short song parts, each complete song would be limited to less than 2 minutes of total recording and playing. Except you reduce the tempo to "fall assleep" mode of course :-) What did I get wrong?
No, it keeps playing, with your recorded loop. When I'm working out a solo over a progression I'll sometimes be plying a section for too long as my wife would say. It only stops the recording when you come to the end of the chord progression. You can overdub as much as you want. Hope this helps.
@@jimmo1211 Thanks for helping. Maybe it's my bad English, but I still don't seem to get it, sorry... So still it stops recording after one chord progression, doesn't it? Let's say if you want to record two different "kind of verses" before moving on to...let's say "pre-chorus", using the same bass and drum playalong for both parts of the verse, you'd have to stop playing, chose another song at the upper button sections 1...5 and start playing the second part? I understand that it keeps *playing* with my recorded loop (that only is one chord progression long), but as soon as the chord progression has finished it's first run, recording stops. Right?
@@therealkickers5166 Check out this guy search for: Slobomitic He has a ton of tutorial videos. He'll help you out a lot by just watching his videos. Go back to see his earlier videos of the Trio+.
Thanks for the nice video.!! The bass line is generated based on the upfront played chord progression right?. So for live performance, If I understood, If i want to use only the drums, could i then save up to 20 rhythm patterns ? provided that i will have a bass guitarist. I mean to save 20 different rhythm patterns to be recalled when playing live.
I think you could just turn down the volume control on the bass side and this will just leave the drums playing .There are level controls for loop, bass and drums
I have one on my pedalboard, powered by an 18v plug from a rockboard power supply. No problems. Brilliant practice tool. Also good for working out parts. Not so great for live performance.
Eric, thanks for putting all the work into this. Very much appreciated. I like to play my own bass lines. Can I mute the bass, add my own bass line, rhythm guitar, then solo along to it? There are not many pedals that have good drum sounds, a looper and gutar effects all in one. I tried the Mooer one but the drums are horrible. Thank you again
Looper is actually the wrong expression, actually the trio is a small jam station because of the creation of the 5 song parts. Provided you can also set it so that the parts automatically change one into the other without changing the parts manually so that it becomes a real song I currently still have the Js-8 eband, which is better between the Js-8 eband or the Trio plus? Because with the JS-8 eband the disadvantage is that you have to play bass and drums yourself or simulate them. With the trio plus, all chords are converted into a bass and drums accompaniment
In my experience the looper's bassist doesn't recognize and learn faster single note riffs or for example power chord riffs with more complicate timings very well even if they went in 4/4 time signature. Even when teaching it chord progressions I would recommend using simpler chord shapes like power chords, basic open chords and minor or major barre chords instead of more fancier chords. But I think the most important thing when teaching the band is to try hitting the root note of the chord and hitting the higher notes is optional. It's still a great and very inspiring device even though you need to use a bit more simpler approach for teaching it riffs and chord progressions. Of course when trying to teach it riffs you can try to harmonize the riffs in simpler ways
Wow pretty awesome I saw this on the andertons youtube channel. Man this is a game changer for guitar players. Especially in quarantine. One thing to loop but to be able to work tour creative progressions out AMAZING Thanks man just subscribed your videos are to the point with out gimmicky sales man bs Cheers mate from So Cal
Thanks so much for checking out the video! I really dig the Trio+. I tend to keep a bunch of progressions saved, turn the dials until I feel something cool, and then jam along. It is cool new way to feel inspired and not get bored.
Excellent. Thanks a bunch! How do I know how many loops I have saved? Can I delete an older loop - not the one I just recorded? Is there a way I can delete any of the saved\learned Parts 1 - 5? Thanks
That's looking so cool. I ordered one this afternoon. Now can't stop watching videos about it. I hope it will be functional for my music. I plan to record my set with it. And maybe play live sets if it works well. I can't wait. I actually just wanted a drum pedal. But this was so much cooler. I've got a looper pedal and love it. But without a drum it's just empty. This even has bass emulation :) Do you know if you can play real bass on the bass track? Or do you need to record it thru the looper to be normal? Thank you for the video. Greetings.
Tree Shade Concepts Yes, it can! I should have shown that in the video. You can use the looper button to start the loop and/or overdub and then hit the band button to stop the loop.
@@EricMooreGuitar How do you get just a loop recorded with out the band? It seems to me you need to have the band taught before the looper will arm for record? This is the best demo on the you tube and I have seen a few. Thanks for the info. This pedal has taught me to think in bars, like in a twelve bar blues progression, because you have to count the 12 bars out loud else you will miss when the lopper goes solid red to record the progression. Great teaching tool, but steep learning curve, just like learning to read music but so worth it when it finally sinks in.

Quite a good video, only your guitar is nearly inaudible until the hip hop bit?
Such a grateful heart!
God bless you cat-that was a great gift to see!

Can you loop something and then the band will just learn that or do you have to play something the band can learn then loop
I have never tried that. Interesting idea.
Thank you....I learned something new today about the Trio Plus!!
Thanks so much for watching Anjan!
It's Amazing. I bought it. I can't clear every parts and songs created with the loop sistem.
I didn’t really understand all that. I guess I need to play around with one.
They need to add a digital screen it ..... to show BPM and beat progression
How is it as a standard looper? I've been tempted to get the Boss RC-3 but I love the band aspect of this.
It seems to do well as a standard looper. If that was going to be the primary use there might be some cheaper options.
@@EricMooreGuitar good to know thanks!
Wow how much would that cost?
Great review, but did I get that correct (at about 17:30 to 17:56), that the looper only stores one progression at a time (and at each song part) and then automatically stops recordung? With 5 of such short song parts, each complete song would be limited to less than 2 minutes of total recording and playing. Except you reduce the tempo to "fall assleep" mode of course :-)
What did I get wrong?
Thanks for the help. Just getting started on the learning curve. BTW these LED lights may be tuff colors for anyone affected by color blindness
Good job demonstrating the trio+
Thanks for the nice video.!! The bass line is generated based on the upfront played chord progression right?. So for live performance, If I understood, If i want to use only the drums, could i then save up to 20 rhythm patterns ? provided that i will have a bass guitarist. I mean to save 20 different rhythm patterns to be recalled when playing live.
I think you could just turn down the volume control on the bass side and this will just leave the drums playing .There are level controls for loop, bass and drums
Very informative video, thank you!
When i put a microfone in the Trio+ can i singing Vocals over my Bandlines? Thank you
PROJEKT DELUXE There is no XLR input for a microphone.
Looper is actually the wrong expression, actually the trio is a small jam station because of the creation of the 5 song parts. Provided you can also set it so that the parts automatically change one into the other without changing the parts manually so that it becomes a real song
I currently still have the Js-8 eband, which is better between the Js-8 eband or the Trio plus? Because with the JS-8 eband the disadvantage is that you have to play bass and drums yourself or simulate them. With the trio plus, all chords are converted into a bass and drums accompaniment
Thanks for taking the time to put out this instructional video
Does the "learn" function work for riffs, or only chord progressions?
Very good tutorial
Thank you. Very helpful!
Wow pretty awesome
I saw this on the andertons youtube channel. Man this is a game changer for guitar players. Especially in quarantine. One thing to loop but to be able to work tour creative progressions out AMAZING Thanks man just subscribed your videos are to the point with out gimmicky sales man bs
Cheers mate from So Cal
Damn i hate this auto txt stuff
Thanks so much for checking out the video! I really dig the Trio+. I tend to keep a bunch of progressions saved, turn the dials until I feel something cool, and then jam along. It is cool new way to feel inspired and not get bored.
Is this pedal able to work above 150BPM. Everyone that demos this pedal are playing at elevator speed
Excellent. Thanks a bunch!
How do I know how many loops I have saved? Can I delete an older loop - not the one I just recorded? Is there a way I can delete any of the saved\learned Parts 1 - 5? Thanks
I think you can do a total of 12 “songs” each can contain 5 parts. So essentially you can have 60 loops. You can delete any of those parts.
Great demo!
wwarrior666 Thanks for checking it out and commenting!
turn your volume up please...
Fantastic teacher nice guy too stick to guitar you will get to where you want to be god bless you
great video man!..question..how do you change the “mode” of the foot switch from table top to live mode(or whatever it’s called)?
That's looking so cool. I ordered one this afternoon. Now can't stop watching videos about it. I hope it will be functional for my music. I plan to record my set with it. And maybe play live sets if it works well. I can't wait. I actually just wanted a drum pedal. But this was so much cooler. I've got a looper pedal and love it. But without a drum it's just empty. This even has bass emulation :)
Do you know if you can play real bass on the bass track? Or do you need to record it thru the looper to be normal? Thank you for the video. Greetings.
Thanks you saved me hours of trying to figure this thing out.
Thanks for watching!
FYI - Now it's $419 for just the Trio Plus. The Foot switch combo is around $500.
Is it possible to "teach" the band and record the first layer of your loop (like chords or something like that) at the same time?
Will the looper work like a stand alone looper pedal for practicing ( looping chords) ?
Tree Shade Concepts Yes, it can! I should have shown that in the video. You can use the looper button to start the loop and/or overdub and then hit the band button to stop the loop.
Eric Moore awesome! Thanks for the information 👍🏻👍🏻
