No matter what job you’ve ever had we can all relate to feeling this way when you learn a new job. Nothing to be ashamed of. Say what you want but this guy has patience.
I was going to say the same thing I had a guy rip me to pieces when I first started
Bad part is he can’t take the truck home and practice or ask a freind lol
Just my opinion.
I’m 34 years old, I’ve drove manual cars for seven years, which would help.
Though I don’t see how it’s so difficult.
I see the video and not to judge. Though I see Patients in not listening to previous questions.
I’d be trying my best to pay attention and focus, especially if it was my hard earned dollars for the course.
Not parents help.
Course isn’t free.
@@oo7chicken112 correct. I see a person who is inexperienced and completely overwhelmed. And being overwhelmed is hard to learn
@@lsunationalchamps08 sink or swim. If you can’t handle it, go do something else.
As a teacher you can’t be insulting your students, “weak legs” the kid looks nervous. He’ll never trust you bro. Remember you ain’t better than your student and your student isn’t better than you.
Wow great quote bro.
Well the instructor might be light years ‘better’ but you right he don’t gotta talk like that to him
Agreed 💯
That ain’t nothing my step threw me on the high way day one and told me either you drive or we die so I drove that damn thing
😂😂
Hey dude, remember nobody was born driving a truck, you had a 1st day too.
No shit, I can't stand cocky fucks
They have to be like that tho just saying
Cuz they not soft they serious about they job
@P C B i have 0 experience driving a manuel, except for this one time my dad rented a manual that old and hard to drive. I managed and was a natural. My dad has been driving manual since 6th grade sneaking out and figuring it out on his own.
He said it was a hard car to start for beginners, but I did fine. I finessed it and acted cool and calm.
@P C B well it wasnt for the sole purpose of learning how to drive stick. It was rented because we had to get our car fixed cuz a lady tail gated and dented the rear bumper. So their insurance paid for the rental and since I talked to my dad a lot about driving manual in the past he got one.
I drove it for like 5-10 minutes in a huge empty parking lot and he drove back home.
Have been looking for someone reliable to buy/rent truck/Mack from it’s been difficult.
Finding someone trustworthy to give you good trucks are hard this days, I bought mine 6 year back and I have 3 of them
Trucking isn't an easy business to handle have been having issues.
@@PatriciaWinniefred I have bought 3 trucks and also rent 5 weekly all from Mr James he's good in the business
Oh you know about him I have been doing business with him for three years now he so trustworthy 💯 ❤️ ❤️
I love the facts that he gives great warranties and also make sure his customers has the best. 💯 💯 ❤️
Dude will get it i just got out of school and had never drove a Manuel before and finally got it. It takes time and funny how ppl on here laughing while your sitting at home watching UA-cam videos
+Jeremy Taylor yeah people will never be pleased. Thank you and thanks for watching 👍
I went to truck driving school 50 years ago stupid ass school teacher was a drunk never got a truck job better off
And your sitting at home watching this video which is the same as them. Also youtube videos vsn teach alot. Like it taught nick mira to be a superstar
Man how did u get it. I’m struggling just like the guy in this video
Hi jeremy
Nice to see a young man of this generation invest in himself with a learned skill. Best of luck young man!

Junior Honduras I'm starting PSD on the 3rd of April I hope I get you as a trainer
+randyburks13 hello and congratulations on making your move to come out here on the road. I will not be available being that I have a student now and I will be taking him TNT as well. From start to finish. Thank you and thanks for watching 👍

Junior Honduras hey man I was wondering what I’d need to do to train with u I’m in the process of obtaining my cdl myself
Where does this guy teach so I can avoid it. Lol
Haha this is funny 😆

Dude said at times the clutch will get stuck but just push it in it’ll go in 😂😂😂
I’m 19 and I’m already studying to get my CDL.
It won’t be easy but it’s not impossible.
Watching this videos will prepare you to expect what trucking school is like.
It took me 3 times to get my permit, but I got it. Take your time, man. You got this!
i’m 18 and just got mine today it does make you nervous but just keep calm and make sure u study be 4 hand
Depending on where you live u have to be too 21 to become a truck driver
You can do it. I’m 18 and I just passed my test and I have my cdl class a. It takes a lot of work to get good but you can do it
I'm 20, I had my CDL class B for a while now and I've been driving a class B truck. I recently got my permit for the class A and today was my first time shifting a 10 speed manual pulling a 53foot reefer.
This dude is a bad teacher, you gotta have patience
Trainer: "Put the clutch in, put the clutch, put the clutch in ! you didn't put the clutch in".
Student: tf does put the clutch in even mean.
It's not just the patience he's really bad at explaining things. I don't know who let this guy become a trainer.
If he doesn't understand what put the clutch in means, he doesn't need to be driving a truck. Mind you, this dude had at least 3-4 weeks in trucking school to practice shifting, etc.
Once u go out with a trainer, that's supposed to be you polishing up your skills...not GROUND ZERO instruction
@@blaahblaah5100 It's almost like he should be a trainer for Swift lol
The student needs to learn how to drive Manuel first before he runs . Or learn on a automatic
I respect your teaching but the way your making the faces and the way your talking to him is making him more nervous which causes more mistakes.

Thats what I was thinking. Its best to make them feel relaxed and give confidence.
i honestly agree
@@AndTecks yes you mocked him thru the whole course. U NEED Moore people skills Witch is more helpful. 😉
teach the young fella instead of making fun of belittling.
Very confusing the way you were explaining it. I've been driving trucks across Canada for 33 years- I know incompetence when I see it.
Randy Johnson yea he just isn’t good with teaching he didn’t really know how to explain it to him
Clutch in clutch out lol
Exactly what I thought, idk if it’s the right way but as I’m being taught, they haven’t told me to pump the clutch when I’m Ahhhh to switch gears lol

Learning something new that requires timing ,and attention to several things, can be overwhelming. I will be doing this in a few weeks and would probably prefer to not have it filmed. Props to Steven for stepping up to the challenge and allowing it to be filmed so we could benefit from his time behind the wheel.
@Jason Stephenson Is pay Actually good for truck driver?
@Jason Stephenson Do you reccomend truck industry? I was Always wondered how much free time you have and is it worth your money and health, will it pay off? Thanks btw
Can you teach me please
@Jason Stephenson hello where you from
So I can teach you
@@everydayworkingjoe5526 It pays good you can either drive locally and be home every night, or do OTR and be home weekends
For people who’ve never driven a stick it’s not easy as a beginner. I haven’t done this yet but I started out on dirt bikes. It helps you understand how the clutch works. Then my best friend who has the patience of a stone taught me on the road how to drive a manual truck. Now he’s teaching me about these cuz he drives them. The guy can literally drive anything. Even trucks that are missing gears lol.
We were all there at one time Steve, hang in there man.

Junior Honduras where are you locates my friend, im looking to get into training too.
I remember when I first started out driving Diesel's. I attended Schneider truck driving school. my instructor was extremely impatient and very rude. the course was only eleven days long. I've been driving for about twenty years now and it's been very rewarding. a dedicated route and home every weekend.
+Eric Moon Thank you and thanks for watching 👍Congratulations and glad everything is going well for you.
That's hw I would have wanted him to talk to me if I wasn't catching on honestly
He should have learned with sedan with shift stick before learning how to drive with big rig. I learnt with Volkswagen beetle back in the day. I am pretty good at driving a stick, not easy as people think, and am gonna be joining the big rig soon...
So your home for only 2 days a week?
@@JASA_87 , prolly 1 1/2 days ( 34 hour reset )
When I was 28 I trained a guy almost twice my age with zero experience to get his class A. I was his only instructor by his choice from day one up until the day he got his license (first try) because the guy around his age was impatient, and would rather show off instead of show how to. Age difference and a different experience level isn’t enough to make up for a trainer being impatient and vague. You shouldn’t tell a trainee what they’re doing wrong, you tell them “try doing it like this, it’s easier”, it helps them relax a little and more receptive. If you’re just barking orders they’re not trying to learn how to drive the truck, they’re just trying to keep YOU happy by doing something YOUR way. They’re already nervous enough..
Nailed it.
Hi David
Straight facts
Your absolutely right David I can feel his frustration and it looks like he was not improving cause he constantly kept telling him what he’s doing wrong
No cap
But seriously bad teacher. Got to get the students confortable. Start by not being so cocky and remembering you were once new too. 👍
He was in a simulator and had weeks to known what a CLUTCH means and do.. he still think hes driving an automatic
Dubl -A, You drive? If not then shut the fuck up. Dude is a great teacher.
Warden u shut the fuck up because the teacher is fucking cocky
Fuk n kid hard headed and nervous
@@JackEnHoff247 i would want him as a teacher
When I started, I was just like this kid...Nervous and arguing with my trainer..But I passed the driving test 1st try...He had never seen that b4. It all comes down to confidence and the facts making sense to him.
Can I get to ? When you used to it’s easy ?
Trainer had a phone/camera in the kid's face. I woulda been pissed if my driving education was being used to create some dude's UA-cam content
He always asks them if it’s okay. Dudes aren’t forced to do this. But of course you made an assumption off one video. Typical.
@Sean Vines Thank you 👍🏽
Junior Honduras like they’re gonna say no to their teacher.....
Devin Hotline well yeah they could. They’re both grown people if he was uncomfortable being filmed he should have no issues going “yeah I’m actually not ok with you recording this” totally respectfully
@Martin Macias no you shut up, I want this man to be my teacher. I dont expect one to have clutch issue when going for truck.
Do you think it's a play thing
I congratulate you sir for ability to teach students particularly steven. You’re doing great job. Keep doing it
I’m going through this same thing so I’m thankful to see someone making the same mistakes. It’s my first time driving a manual and a truck and that’s nerve racking. People who’ve learned act like they were never taught. It’s hard to relearn things and practice them simultaneously but eventually it’ll come. Stop making judgments within the first few days.
CR Smith I want to learn and I have no idea how to drive a Manuel. How’d it turn out for you ?
How’s it going now?
How’s that trucking money going bro
WELL SAID! That Part!! Sim
Put any new driver in a massive truck and he'll get nervous. Took me a bit to match my rpms with the gear and to learn the proper way to double clutching and float. But as long as you keep at you'll do it without even thinking. Best of luck to any and all new drivers watching this.
Thank you and thanks for watching 👍
In my opinion I think new drivers should start out in a small class b truck and work their way up. I spent 3 years in a 10 speed dump truck before I got my class a. My class a instructor skipped me on shifting lessons because I could shift as smooth as he could.
Joseph Camperchioli z!
Thank you bro

It's easy when you're watching verses doing it. Just remembering everything your first day is hard then doing it makes you nervous. At the same time it's a blessing. You got to start from somewhere.

Problem #1. Never start in third.
Problem #2. Stop telling students the clutch shifts the truck ( it does NOT).
Problem #3 if he is staring at the tach he is not watching the road.
Why not start in 3rd If your engine has the torque and hp to do so?
EXACTLY!!!
Thank you, your not t suppose to use clutch while driving lol, that's only for cars, than they wonder why clutch gets ruined fast, horrible instructor.lol
I am being taught to always start in third unless you have a load.
Edward Dowdy yea could even start at 4th gear while unloaded, with load 2nd
Why didn't kid adjust his seats and mirrors when he got in? 😂 guy literally told him too but i feel like kid was thinking more about 'i have no idea how to drive stick and now im in a semi" 😂😂
Hes so nervous an he forgot to do it. I reckon

To be fair, imagine going behind a 10k+ lb truck that if you make one small mistake, it could end up killing lives like nothing. Yeah, I'd be shitting myself too, even if I'm getting trained for it right then and there.

This guys teaching is perfect. Babying people does not teach stress, this guys teaching does. I wish this guy becomes my trainer in the future.
You don't teach stress, you teach calmness in a stressful situation. This is why many drivers get killed on the road. Drop the tough guy attitude.

As a teacher, I would drill one technique/maneuver over and over again until the student started to perform the action as second nature then I would move in to the next step. Repitition is the mother of mastery.
Starting my class 1 in a few weeks. Been driving manual vehicles and motorbikes for 30 years. Seems like this young man is learning with no prior exp. Makes it harder to grasp it all.....practice makes perfect
Are you driving professionally now?

You've gotta learn how to teach people bro. Talking to them like they're dumb is just gonna discourage them. Driving a truck is foreign to someone who's never driven one. No wonder people don't wanna become truck drivers, the teachers are terrible and don't seem to have people skills after being on the road for so long.

This guys a BRUUUUTAL trainer!! Stupid degrading comments like “your legs weak bro cause if they are maybe this isn’t for you” is TRASH! It’s an extremely overwhelming experience doing this for the first time. My trainer was absolutely amazing! Made the experience extremely comfortable and enjoyable.
I'm about to enter driving school. I'm fortuante enough to have worked for penske truck leasing as a lot attendant so i got to drive tractors with trailers attached frequently. I did everything. Back into narrow spaces between to other tractor trailer units as well as pull a truck and trailer around the building and into a mechanic bay. Hook up trailers to tractors and attack the cables to the tractor as well. Lifting and dropping landing gear. It helps though that i've driven manual transmission cars and trucks my whole life so it was pretty easy for me. I think i'll make it through the class with flying colors so i'm quite confident.
Thanks for the upload. Nice to see the expierence of a rookie doing it. Hope he makes it and gets his license.
+slasher 4433 I really appreciate it. Thank you 👍😎 I wish you the best out there.
I wonder if them understanding how a clutch physically works would help understand why you have to operate the clutch the way you do.
Yes that's why I'm so glad I understand this all I start school June 2019
Vantravise Moss good luck bro im right behind you
True that bro!
Yeah definitely
Idk, it depends on if their mechanically inclined enough to understand it.
I’ve been in situations where you just end up confusing yourself trying to dumb it down to a 5 year olds level of understanding.
Plus that can add so many other levels of confusion on top of them already being stressed out and nervous. And the instructors frustration confirming all their mess ups doesn’t help anyone either.
They don’t want to let you down more than they don’t want to let themselves down. Especially if their a spouse lol
Watching this makes me so happy that my school is over and I passed. All of our vehicles are automatics so I never have to think about double clutching ever again. So thankful.
I really appreciate you watching and thank you 👍

But what if your at a job and there are no automatic trucks?
I am student at truck driving school in nova scotia canada, today was my third day and also my first day behind the wheel because i had theory class the first two days, my instructor kept explaining the whole day and showing me little, it was good experience even though i did very bad i got confused and frustrated shifting gears. He’s nervous that’s how everyone is on their first day and the instructor is doing a great job at teaching him some people don’t even tell you what ur doing wrong but this guys actually proving every point great job totally amazed I wish he was my instructor:)
Hello handsome
Where you from
After taking the course for truck driving in a manual truck, I can say I was glad my instructor did not build up my confidence. If you get too confident in truck driving you make mistakes and you learn those mistakes. It is best IMO to keep people's confidence low. Truck driving is a very stressful profession, and if you can't handle the stress of an instructor pushing you to do better, then you won't ever push yourself to do better. I noticed more people fail their tests when they had an easy instructor that didn't really care about the quality of their driving, what may seem like the instructor being tough is actually good for the new driver. You can give them a boost of confidence when they do something exceptional, but be sure to pop that bubble, and get back to polishing their skills. There is always room for improvement and like many other professions, you are always learning new skills in truck driving.
One thing I noticed; while the instructor was showing him how to drive, the student seemed to be looking straight ahead or elsewhere instead of closely watching how it was done. Once he was in the driver's seat, THEN he was looking at the instructor. It seemed kinda backward to me.
Learning to drive a rig like this is NO joke and it definitely isn't like driving a 4-wheeler. It ain't easy driving a vehicle the size of a building around in traffic. Sure, it's relatively easy on the interstate, but downtown is a whole different world.
Breathe, don't get tunnel vision and try your best to relax. It'll come. Stick with it, it'll be worth it.
+moshfists you're right about it being NO JOKE. I really appreciate it and thanks 👍👍
"stop right here, stop right here.. your legs weak man? they ain't weak? I just wanna make sure, cause this might not be for u" 😂😂😂 I'm teaching myself and I know I'm going to be just like this kid.. but yeah, good video amigo..

BAD TEACHER. I’m glad I taught one of my ex workers how to shift an 18spd from scratch truck only now he got his trailer license and is hauling fuel truck and trailer now. I feel great knowing I taught him.
When I went through cdl school my trainer used to say clutch neutral clutch gear...to help us remember.
Damn dude you just helped me understand that with one sentence.
Donny Graf facts
Donny Graf that’s how I was taught
How i was taught as well
Yup I was taught the same way
Don't worry after you get away from this guy you'll never use the clutch again
Tate Jones you right man you need clutch only for fist gear after that you forget abut clutch ,
Yep ... float!!!!
For the test he has to teach him to use the clutch
Tate Jones bruh, you have to shift with the clutch on your test.
Dave Brooks I floated gears on my test. Only used the clutch for takeoff. Ol bear never said a word. Passed with damn near flying colors. I had an air leak that sprung after I got there with the rig, company had it fixed. I was a little rattled about it, forgot to pull up with my hands off the wheel after the air leak test. Then I made a left hand turn that from the troopers POV felt a little close at a tight intersection (I still had 4 foot on my left side, I was fine.) other than that there were no derogatory remarks. He said he’d never seen someone that’s never driven a truck before operate like that. I said “who said I’ve never driven one” we laughed and went about the day. Idk why he never said anything about me not using the clutch. I thought he was gonna fail me because I didn’t to be honest.
“If your legs weak, this may not be for you”.. encourage the man
I'm usually pretty good with instructions, finished college with little trouble. Even I had no idea what the hell was going on when you were explaining the whole clutch situation. I was watching and thinking, "what the hell is happening? What are you even trying to say??" Lol
Respect to truck drivers. Definitely not easy, and takes practice.
That's because he's not giving clear instructions
I used to go truck driving with a friend of mine and time to time I was learning how double clutch believe me I was exactly the same as soon as he sat down then within a weak or two I was shifting those gears beautifully knowing at what RPM to shift I was learning going up steep mountains too.. it wasn't easy I was running on volvo 13 500HP that thing hauled ass with cummins engine..loved it

The Asian Mai Show i
Dude caused a 20 car pileup hes first week killed 3 people and a rabbit. Rip bugs B 😔🙏
Brings back memories of my first 3 days of learning to drive. My pops is an old school driver with nearly 40 years now of driving and in just 3 days, I was driving my own truck and dumping loads with a tipper. I even drove the rest of the month on my permit behind my father and made it just fine, lol. Some people have a natural knack for learning quick and others it takes more time to teach them and thus need these 6 week courses. I was taught since childhood how to work a clutch and shifting and it helped I drove manual cars before trucking too. I even learned to float the gears before I learned to double clutch. I guess 3 days is pretty good when your father is a military veteran and was also a Drill Instructor too...... So you can imagine the "nice" words of encouragement he gave me during those 3 days, good times. Been trucking for a few years now and everything's been good so far.
+Honey Badger Thank you and thanks for watching 👍
+Junior Honduras sir I have a question hope you can help me out I want to go back into trucking but don't know which company is better to drive for between Schneider and Werner I would really appreciate your help
+Sony Sonic5 well to be honest with you you have to choose the company that best suits you for your needs and once at that particular time you wanted to do it you have to weigh out the options that you have for each company and then go from. I for one cannot tell you which one to go to because I don't have any or enough information about the two companies that you have mentioned up there. What you want to do is make a list of the pros and cons for each one and then compare. Thank you and thanks for watching 👍
Your down-to-earth sir teaching that young man exactly what you do God bless you
I am so thankful that I didn't go to a CDL mill years ago. I spent 7 months on the yard as a switcher (with a 10-spd daycab, not a switcher tractor), before I ever got on the road. In 7 months, I pretty much knew what I was doing. Backing trailers 40 hours a week, I had that pretty well down too. I wish more companies did that, rather than people going to "school" and be driving a semi down the road three weeks later.
+gravytrain416 Yeah every company is different. Thank you and thanks for watching 👍

Another, in order to be a great teacher you have to be able to listen to your student, observe, and evaluate the situation.
My trainers... didn't start me off this light, lol... they gave me an empty trailer, learned to shift while on the road.... my ears still hurt all the yelling lol
nice
Thank you and thanks for watching 👍
@Hello Bulwark how are you doing
People like him is reason why so many get discourage!!!
+Maica Bentivoglio Thank you and thanks for watching 👍
Couldnt agree more.
if his attitude discourages someone from learning to drive a rig that size, maybe the transport industry isn't for them. it can be a very stressful, thankless job, not to mention potential for accident/death. driving that rig requires something more than even I have. Junior is a no nonsense, good instructor
Maica Bentivoglio you say that like it’s a bad thing. If you can’t work under pressure, then you should go back home with your tail between your legs. This isn’t summer camp. You will be driving a 40 ton loaded truck that can kill a lot of people if you can’t deal with pressure and stress. So go back to finding a desk job. So many little spoon fed babies trying to be truck drivers.
Really? I thought he was pretty laid back.
First time watching this & I can honestly say your a great trainer & definitely had patience with the young man… He’s a good kid & he has no problem with listening and following instructions.. positive people always win 🥇 ‼️ Good Luck

Everybody has been saying this dude is a bad teacher but in all reality this man was just being real with his student. The weak legs line was a bit overboard but at the same time he was talking to him like he was a worker. That is just what the industry is like. I hope your student does very well in the field.
Dude He’s a bad instructor his explanation is terrible I totally understand “clutch In and clutch out” but the rest of it like he saying it in words but not in Action the newbie keep looking over to him waiting on him to show him and that’s the main Point of the training. I personally don’t want him to train me if I was a noob. But I understand one example ONLY and that is “clutch In and clutch out”
Just got my permit and excited to learn how to drive but if my trainer does this to me for sure he'll be going home with a broken jaw
Good luck bro got my CDL 5 years ago...just keep calm and pay attention and you'll do just fine

@@reborngreatnesss5712 you can get your CDL permit easily by studying the test questions on cdl pre test apps, then you can call a school and ask for discount since you have to do the written part

Junior great job you have tons of patience, you can see Steven was nervous but you stayed with it. First day is the hardest and we all started there keep up the great work!!
Thanks for this. Getting ready to head to training in a few. I can drive a manual car, but this is a different beast all together, so I'm just heading in like I know nothing. Helpful advice and tips thanks!
I start my CDL program in less than a month... Super nervous as hell, but getting a crash coarse on the driving segment really helps me get a layout of the process... thanks junior for the tutorial vid 👍

Hi kirk
Dang I wish I would have had him as a trainer mine only let me practice shifting for 20 mins then threw me into crazy Memphis traffic
Leasha Tawes Memphis traffic is the worst
If you survived Memphis traffic you are the G.O.A.T
😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
This guy is more patient than Scott the instructor who took me to the road test. I think the student has to learn driving a stick shift car first. However if the instructor gets you nervous fight back and talk, that's how I dealt with my instructor once.
+SATFactory Thank you and thanks for watching 👍
Actually some people who drive a car with a manual transmission have more trouble because of their tendency to push the clutch in too far when going through the gears. They have to retrain that muscle memory.
SATFactory , that doesn’t work with all drivers. I started my trucking job with a 13 speeed, I was scared as heck. I never driver a manual cars before. Personal I prefer 13 speed over 10 speed. Less shifting on 13 then a 10. Most trucking companies now has automatic trucks. I have a hard time driving automatic trucks. Sound strange but it’s true.

He is a great teacher.......being a strict teacher is the sign showing that he want to improve you
I always struggled at double clutching. Floating is so much easier and easier to learn. I literally learned floating my 3rd time out and never went back
yeah but for testing purposes you need to double clutch, but I agree with your comment
Im good at manual driving but never done double clutching, that seems difficult to me, cant imagine if youve never done manual shifting at all
Agreed... I was taught to float then taught myself double clutching in an afternoon to pass the road test.
