    On my 2015 2.0L Soul, I had to add oil once a week starting around 70K miles. Couldn't figure out where the oil was going. No leak, no smoke. Around 104K miles, I found out that PVC valve is supposed to be changed every 50K miles on this engine. Replaced the valve and stopped having to add oil. At 112K engine had no power. Long story short, catylitic converter was stopped up bad. Replaced that and now car runs like new. I believe PVC valve caused converter to get stopped up as that's where the oil was going. Don't no about changing it at 30K, certainly wouldn't hurt, but definitely at 50K.

    Great video, nice to see someone working on the same car that I have. I"m pretty sure I tightened my new one, that I bought at a local auto parts store, about the same amount you did and it broke off right behind the rubber grommet. Had to dig the threaded part out of the hole with a large screwdriver. Put the old one back in for now as it still seems okay. Tightened it about hand tight using just the deep socket without the ratchet. I'm nervous to tighten this with a ratchet anymore.

    Protip, as shown in the video, the pcv that was removed was working perfectly fine and as such, had no reason to be replaced prematurely as if it fails, it is not a mission critical part. Instead of wasting money to replace it, on my own vehicles, I check them every oil change. To give an insight, I once had a 01 dodge ram with over 600k miles and the pcv was still the factory original and worked perfectly fine. Moral of the story is, even though it is a cheap part, if you don't have to replace it, don't. It will save you money over the long run and is less plastic and rubber going into a landfill that will never biodegrade.

    Sir (RB), I have a 2015 Kia Soul with a 1.6 liter and it has 87000 miles. It's burning oil and I lose almost 3 quarts of oil between oil changes. I'm having the dealership monitor everything since it's still under warranty. Based on doing some research on the internet, the PCV valve could be the reason why I'm burning oil. I mentioned it to the service advisor and he just got a confused look on his face and shook his head. The PCV valve was never changed out in my Kia, so do you think it could be the cause of why it's burning oil? I hate to think it's the piston rings already wearing out, but I want your opinion. What do you think? Is it a possibility it could be the PCV valve?

    • @RBTheMechanic

    • @RBTheMechanic
      @RBTheMechanic  2 роки тому +1

      Lean is too much air so when this valve get stuck it will allow air to by pass and suck as much as air it can which will cause leak and fuel mixture the air is measure by air flow sensor located on the air duct pipe from air filter housing

      @@RBTheMechanic thanks brothers for the much needed HELP!! lol!!

    • @FtanmoOfEtheirys
      @FtanmoOfEtheirys 2 роки тому

      To answer your question as the op did not do a great job at it. Lean refers to a condition where your air to fuel ratio is higher in the amount of air being introduced into the combustion chamber (the cylinder) as opposed to fuel. An engine that runs lean will run hotter and if lean enough, will cause detonation/pinging. The opposite to this is the engine running rich, where there is more fuel than necessary. This makes the engine run cooler, but also can introduce unburned fuel into the catalytic converter which can over time damage it.

      Go see a few videos on “GDI de-carbonization” procedure, do that purchasing the chemicals shown in vid and follow through step by step.
