Good video… my sugestión before you open or drain oils, all ways first open the refill plug. That way you sure be able to put the new oil. Some times plugs are stock or break when opens.
Hi, Great video. My wife has the exact same 2016 2.0 Kia Soul. Just finished a tune up, new plugs, ignition coils, PCV valve, oil change, air filter and cabin air filter. All she does is add gas lol… Anyway I was looking for the transmission dipstick and did’t find one as they just don’t have one. Came across your great video. This is next on my list and doable for an old guy like me.
That's how I pump in my trans fluid on my 2017 Kia Soul. If I let it run while I'm pumping it in it will take in another half a quart then when I turn it off it will pour out quickly. I always wonder am I supposed to keep a topped off while it's running or when it's off. I've changed it several times since new.
Here's why I'm not sure of that. When I drain the fluid about 3 n 3/4 of a quart come out. The same amount pumps right in without starting it.. but then it will take in another half a quart after it's running. And that's 4 n 1/4.qts. that seems like too much to me because when I first changed it years ago the original amount that came out was 3 n 3/4th. But the good news is it seems a little Universal for the amount going in it. It can be overfilled a little.
The manual for my 2015 states “Manual transaxle fluid: 1.6 Engine needs 1.9~2.0 US qt. (1.8~1.9 1) and a 2.0 Engine needs 2.0~2.11 US qt. (1.9~2.0 l)” And an automatic needs 7.71 US qt. (7.3 l) for both engine sizes.
Any idea on how to check the level on hybrids as they usually dont idle the engine, and there is no torque converter spinning. I cant figure out if the engine needs to be running or not with a hybrid. I have a 2019 Optima PHEV
Yes , 4 quarts is all you need on a drain fill. If you flush the entires system it will take 8 quarts. I usually just stick with doing a drain fill every 30k or so. Thanks for the feedback.
I'm new to this and have never changed the transmission fluid. Why do you have the engine running? Do I need to turn it on only while finishing pumping the fluid in?
When you check the transmission fluid it has to be under normal operating conditions (i.e. has to be warm as if you are driving) if it’s checked when it’s cold you could get an incorrect result (it could indicate that the fluid is low when it isn’t really)! Allow it to continue running while you check the level!
@TatumDeatherage makes sense but to further clarify, since I also have never done this, will the transmission fluid warm up to normal operating temps or should u actually take it for a drove and then check? Thank u
well I didnt do a transmission flush on my 16 manual because I was told its a "closed system" that you dont do that on, transmission seems fine at 250k miles but hell should I do a triple flush if you are supposed to do this?
Usually the manual transmissions do not need much attention. I believe they only take a couple of quarts. With those miles it would not be a bad idea to change it out. The oem fluid or royal purple synchromax. This one is an automatic in the video. Thanks for the feedback.
I believe it calls for Kia type 4 or Hyundai SP4 ( same ), I know oreillys or rock auto can order the Idemitsu HK4 . Idemitsu is much cheaper than the Kia Hyundai brand and is pretty comparable. In my opinion any compatable atf that is full synthetic is pretty good. I have used the idemitsu as well as dex VI full synthetic. Thanks for the question.

Excellent suggestion. I had trouble cracking loose the refill plug on my wife's Chevy. Took a while but I got it.

I really appreciate you taking the time to leave such great feedback , thank you for watching.
It's a sealed system
Very helpful video. Thank you, sir!
Thank you very much.
Excellent video!
Thank you very much.
I just cut my own access hole in the splash shield. Easy Peasy for future maint
Great idea. Thanks for the feedback.
I was thinking the same thing lol
Thank you very much for your video. Very very helpful! One quick question, will that pump work on a gallon container?
This one will fit both. I appreciate your feedback and will update the link.

You want to fill it running at temp and and plug it before turning the car off. I appreciate the feedback.

@@eastcoastroadrunnermaybe stop at 4 quarts even instead of the extra quarter quart?? 🤨
Great video! So how much fluid does a 2015 actually take?
3.2 quarts (drain fill ) should be about perfect. Thanks for the feedback.
The manual for my 2015 states “Manual transaxle fluid: 1.6 Engine needs 1.9~2.0 US qt. (1.8~1.9 1) and a 2.0 Engine needs 2.0~2.11 US qt. (1.9~2.0 l)”

Great video, but everything online says a 2016 kia soul 2.0 takes 7-8 quarts of tranny fluid - is this a manual?
That is probably about right if it is completely empty . On a drain fill you will get 4 quarts at best. Thanks for watching.
Good stuff👍
Thank you so much.
Question is it a hole you’re feeding the tube into or do you put the tube over the piece of metal in the center of the hole?
Thank you!
Thank you for the feedback , much appreciated.
Excellent video

Trying to do mine but why auto store sold me 8 quarter and you did it almost 4 quarter

Drive care up a piece of 2x6 then put ramps under
Great tip , thank you.
How liters of oil can enter into gear box for Kia soul
just a question! it's not filter on these ones? just wonder thanks!
The filter is not accessible without a rebuild. Thanks for the question.
did you ever mention if its manual or auto?
its an auto

@@s33therfan what about Redline 75W-70 GL-4 or do you think the other you mentioned are superior
I have the 1.6 l turbo. Is the prosses the same?
If yours has the 6 speed automatic and not the 7 spd dual clutch , then the process will be the same. Thanks for watching.
Hello mister, i want to know if i need some special atf
I believe it calls for Kia type 4 or Hyundai SP4 ( same ), I know oreillys or rock auto can order the Idemitsu HK4 . Idemitsu is much cheaper than the Kia Hyundai brand and is pretty comparable. why didnt u replace the filter
As mentioned, Filter not accessible unless full rebuild is done.
aaaand......the oil filter?....
Oil filter? this is transmission fluid, no engine filter. Oil for Engine, fluid for Transmission. HELOOOOO.
Manual transmission
