Can you make a video showing all the oll's and pll's you use? I think the ones i'm using right now kinda suck and the ones I saw in this video seem to be a fair bit better.
I could do that with enough time and motivation, but really OLL/PLL you kinda have to look around through various websites and pick ones that work for you, since everyone turns a little differently. Speedsolving wiki is a really good place for algs, as is alg,db
Hey Jay, do you think there is a possibility that you will be switching to hoya on 4x4? I know its irrelevant, but I am curious, as I get much faster times on hoya, than on yau.Probably I dont understand yau that much because it takes me long to finish the centers.Just asking :P I think that hoya could also give you fast times as cross edges are a lot faster and more fluid than yau
Crossedges on yau are quite a bit faster for most people, as they're are easier to make. And yep, it's a matter of personal preference, i can't get times as good with hoya as with yau. And i don't think, jay can either, he does even have videos about yau on cubing world, and is very good with it.
Keep in mind that the fastest official Hoya average is 6 seconds behind the fastest Yau average, which technically means it's on par with reduction right now, since both methods have a 32 official average as their best. Also, Hoya has a pretty big movecount disadvantage since making the 4 cross edges is so much more restricted than it is with yau. Instead of being able to pair edges up straight away, you have to insert them like F2L pieces which wastes moves.
CubeCubingCuber never too early and never too late, i average around 12 and i don't know this. tips like this help you little by little, more tips you learn, the more likely you're able to lower your time. it all add up together in the end
Hello guys. I got a cube a couple of days ago and I have been trying to learn how to solve it from thee official Rubik's cube tutorial. Although I can solve it if I look at the tutorial, I am finding it hard to memorise all the sequences for each layer and solve it as fast as you guys do. I wanted to ask you if you use the same technique and you have just memorised it and practiced so that you do it super fast, or if you have other techniques that are easier to memorise and perform? Thanks in advance for any helpful comments guys
+John Kourtimp Hey :) You can learn from badmephisto(dot)com. Replace that (dot) with a . and for methods you generally memorise a series of moves called algorithms and perform them but if you are not good at memorization, then you can take a look into the Roux method. If you search "Roux as a beginner method" then DeeDub has a great video on it. I also some some videos but they are catering to more advanced cubers and not beginners. We just practice it over and over to execute it fast
do you have a list of the standard OLL that you use and the one that you use to avoid diagonal swaps?

Thanks, but I just take 35 sec to begin edge pairing with yau, and 25 with hoya
what do you average now?

Yep, thats what i meant, thanks, jay :)
i have a dayan zhanchi 5, it is quite crappy now. I'm a sub 30 cuber. Do i get the huanlong or the gans 356?
Exactly the same situation as me. Any suggestion?
Get the MeiYing.
I think ROLL stand for recognition if last layer
nope it mean Recognition after OLL
How fast should you be before doing that. I average 20 by the way

Wow I can't even remember making that comment. Anyway I average 17 now
