"no, you danced on the grave of the lady I killed"
Damn, it's a lot darker than I remember. 😅
Yeah, there's a dark side to the Wizard of Oz...
...a dark side of the Moon.
Lots of family films, children's cartoons, and old Hollywood movies are.
I was surprised they didnt call her a murderer or psychopath after that
Ding Dong the witch is dead.
Remember Rick Polito's description of the movie back in 1998 for TCM: “Transported to a surreal landscape, a young girl kills the first person she meets and then teams up with three strangers to kill again.”
Will Ferrell “WHAT WERE WE WEARING!”
I had to pause the video after that line.
@@PunchUp01 SAME
“I wish that tornado killed you”! I was dying! I love Will Ferrell
I wouldn't be able to do it without laughing.
😂😂😂😂😂
I love when Kate McKinnon does voices from 1930s & 40s movies.
Her and kristen wig. So funny
"You know how to whistle, don't you? Just put your lips together and blow" that one killed me lmao
Me too lol so funny 🤣
Love this
@@horgecondaliza6644 Kristen Wig 30s-40s voice is so much better
Even on his knees, Will Ferrell is taller than everyone else...
True!
Excactly what i thought too!
That's why he was the mayor lmao
Haha
That's why he's mayor.
Chloe’s munchkin voice is so good. She needs more screen time.
"I'm maaad as hell". Fith time around, I'm still losing it!
Zack Berger She’ll become the next Kate McKinnon when she leaves.
Yeah only been used 2 or 3 times this season I think
She’ll get more. It’s only her first season so the writers are just learning her skills and weaknesses
She’s been great this season
“I wish the tornado had killed you!” LOL
I actually laughed at that part.
Will always go in...he only stays calm for alil
Auntie Em: (shocked) Doctor!!
No one caught that in one of the opening scenes of the original movie, someone indeed killed themselves..
I think it was the producer’s son or maybe the janitor or some shit, but it actually happened.
They hinted at it in the skit and in reviewing the comments, NO ONE HAS FUCKING NOTICED..
I’m surely not the biggest fan of the movie, but come on!!
This party genuinely made me laugh out loud on public transportation
"What were we wearing?" "What?" " WHAT WERE WE WEARING!!!!?" Best line
🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
-pionts to demonic looking baby dolls-
I would've cracked up
😂😂😂😂
Ok but can we appreciate how spot on the acting was in the part right when Dorothy wakes up before the munchkins come in. It was exactly like the movie. They nailed it.
Not so fun fact: Sarah reports that she was drugged and sexually assaulted while filming. And that she was molested and sexually harassed by executives and even the actors who played the lolly pop guild dwarves… yikes
Reese De’WHAT will always be funny, no matter how many times I see him
He's really an underrated recurring character
Not funny and first time seeing it
Why? I do not know
I haven't seen him before.
🎶De’WHAT’s up with that🎶
"Listen, it's more dignified than it sounds."
Yes. That is a line from the video we all watched.

But he rarely does crack

I died when they started doing the twitchy shoulder dance
turkey jerky We represent..
Me too. Also “race?!” totally killed me!
R.I.P.
Me too! That killed me. 😄
I always was sorta mesmerized and intrigued by that weird, twitchy dance that those munchkins did, even as a kid. With their strange, angry facial expressions....the creators of "Wizard" musta been on some serious acid when they made that film. (Not that it wasn't entertaining!)
P.S. -- I think it was also briefly parodied by Charlie, Dennis, and Mac on an episode of "It's Always Sunny...".
“And I think I saw one of you had hanged yourself” 😂😂😂 I cant believe SNL put that famous (and disproved) Wizard of Oz rumor in this sketch
@~Vashti7~ It is a rumor, though--the shadow is from a bird in the background flapping it's wings. They put birds in the background to make the scene feel more like a forest.
@~Vashti7~ Right, because no-one at MGM would notice something like a suicide taking place during filming, or they'd find a corpse hanging from a tree and not bother to do a re-shoot, and nobody involved in the editing of the film would see it and no-one watching the film in theaters or on television broadcasts would notice it for at least half a century - until the internet was invented.
Yes, there's no disproved urban myth going on here.
~Vashti7~ it’s fake
@~Vashti7~ www.snopes.com/fact-check/hanging-munchkin/
It was filmed in a studio where they had live animals. It was a bird.
"WHAT were we WEARING?!" Gets me every time 😂
"Doctor thanks for coming to see Dorothy."
"She seems fine."
I love how she banged her head so hard that she passed out for hours and he's like "well she looks okay to me. Now about that dream...."
it *was* the Midwest in the 1930s, I wouldn’t have been surprised XD
@@rosebyanyname For real! I'm sure concussion protocols and concerns about severe brain damage were pretty much non-existent back then 😂
This was the real ending but after some negative audience feedback, they changed it.
Damn focus groups.
Didn't know that.
@@JackMensahBonsu he's joking
@@raeyahecht5945 actually I really want this ending especially the part with the one legged slave.
@@JackMensahBonsu yeah it would be funny af
Will Ferrell still seems tall even on his knees lol
He’s always been taller than the other elves
A midget amongst dwarves
As someone who has watched The Wizard of Oz multiple times a year when my children were little, I feel that the movements and inflections of these actors are so carefully studied and duplicated that they just deserve whatever success they can get. It's amazing to watch it copied so well.
"Were the lollipops bigger than your head? Yes." Oh my god this show is hilarious.
Ok. That was hilarious. Especially Auntie Em pleasantly smiling in background during whole interrogation.
WHAT were we WEARING
Lol I couldn't stop laughing at will ferral
🤣😆
That was so damn funny!!!🤩🤩🤩
Hes so damn hilarious!😂😂😂💀💀💀💀
Me either!
@Steve Shortridge thank you!
Kate McKinnon's old school acting is so perfectly hilarious
This was such a genius sketch. From the “munchkins” getting upset to the joke about one of them hanging themselves. Awesome sketch. Deserved to be in the first half of the show.
Such a missed opportunity to let melissa do her Judy garland impression smh
so true.
@@anadonut.kalemyvibe5872 Same.
I know. They have to force Kate in everything. They may as well name the show after her
@@turdferguson8928 cuz she's awesome

I like how she just accepted it was a dream and tried to move on when she realized how offensive it was.

''you were all heroes in your own SMALL way''.....genius
Not for the character in that moment.
They even got the sepia tone color of the movie right
I was just thinking that Sepia looks gorgeous, and they even have the fake dust and finger prints on the film
John Clarke yes, they used sepia. That’s how they did that.
Fuck me people are stupid.
John Clarke except the movie was in b&w and then in color. sepia is the color of very old photos.
But they got the aspect ratio wrong.
@@wobu5361 it was released in and filmed in Sepia in 1939. Subsequent releases had it in black and white simply because color TV wouldn't be available for a long time. It was changed back to it's original Sepia tone (digitally) in the late 80's early 90's.
This skit is one of the funniest SNL sketches I’ve seen in a while. Hilarious.
I KEEP WATCHING IT!!!
Give me some of your drugs.
If you haven't already, you should check out the "alternate ending" they did for Casablanca. In my opinion, it's even funnier than this one. ☺
Funniest non-political sketch in a long time on SNL. Well before Will Ferrell's time on SNL.
@@mariannecontrino6297 The mad tv one was hilarious!!! She said, "you telling me I couldve been left"?!!!!!! She was trying to kill the good witch
"Your house is a dump by the way" 😂😂💀💀💀 maaaan this sketch had me in TEARS!! "I'm mad as hell" 💀
Kate McKinnon’s voice is lovely doing Judy’s accent!!! Really loving her in all the roles she embodies. Really lovely!
"your house is a dump btw" LOL!!!! Freaking hilarious skit all the way through.
I love these skits just for how Reese De'What pronounces his name.
"What were we wearing!" the aggressiveness in his voice had lmaoo 😂😂😂
🤣🤣 for no apparent reason tho 🤣🤣
The second “what were we wearing?!?!” Just kills me every time.

Walked in? He was moving on his knees.

lol same. This is my 4th time watching this and it just always gets better when Dr. Pickens walks in and the rest of the guys just leave
I laugh everytime
Can we talk about how GOOD an impression of Judy Garland Kate did? Wow!
? She wore a wig, laid there, and talked. WOW! So amazing! And her singing and dancing.... oh right, she did none of that.
I love how they included the creepy urban legend.
Kate McKinnon is simply a genius comedienne. Her spot on delivery and dry humor are a special blend of hilarity and slapstick that is rare.
Will Ferrell is a national treasure
No he's not
The cast members now litterally stare at cue cards the whole time, will doesn't .
Hes a baby eater
and kate mckinnon..i thought she made this skit work
So many IRL celebrity guests appearing on this episode.......I wish John C Reilly would have showed up for a part.
Kate and Aidy made the Cinema Classic sketches their own. Kenan served up the ball, they went with it and made proper comedy gold!
Is no one talking about that hat slip in the back at 2:17 😂😂
Kate will be missed on SNL. She has done so many different characters over the years.
WAIT IS SHE LEAVING😟
@@meowmeowballs - when I wrote that, I was told she left snl and when I didn't see her in the season opener, I figured it was true and she left snl. As far as I know, she will be there all year, hopefully for a few more years.
It's not the highest paid gig on tv, but she is one of the highest paid of all time. $25k per episode, same as Kenan on and Jost.
It's a great job and they are encouraged to do other projects in their down time
Well now she is gone 😕
@@danii888 - are you sure? I know Pete Davidson is gone.
@@joblessbum7 Yup. Kate, Kyle, Pete, and Aidy.
“And what about meee? Was I there??” Will did a great job introducing the comedic element to the scene.
“You know what i learned in exercise class?”
“Acceptance?”
Worst couples balloon ride ever.
Hilarious!
OMG, Kate's Judy Garland inflection is SOOooo spot-on, just uncanny.
Loved this so much! My grandmother's first cousin was one of the Flying Monkeys in The Wizard of Oz, and so I've always been fascinated by the film as a result. It's so cool to see the memory of his work, and the work of the other actors who played Munchkins, remembered in this sketch.
You were the first cousin, twice removed, to your grandmother's first cousin, so you get to claim him too!
"You know, I'd love to move off the dream stuff..."
Kenan really hit that De’WHAT hard 😂😂😂
as he do every Cinema Classics sketch lol
That's part of it. He does it every time they do this sketch. It's a "thing."
"So we're on the same level as an airborne chimp?"
Once they land maybe
This is a SERIOUSLY underrated comment-
i will always laugh when keenan says "reese de'WHAT"
I love these cinema classics sketches
The music in the back ground 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Tits or gtfo
I will never get tired of the way kenan shouts De’WHAT! 😆😂
"Lets get out of here, your house is a dump by the way!" Im dying,

I thought this skit was going to be ridiculous, but it was one of the best. Will Ferrell is a gift to have on your show.
Correct on BOTH counts.
Doing the shoulders when mad, totally floored me! Lol
The whole thing has me crying
My alternative ending is where the “Wizard of Oz” tells Dorothy that she took the wrong road, that she should’ve took the reddish road instead.
You monster!!!
The Wizard of Oz is one of my favorite movies and this sketch literally made me laugh so hard that I cried and wiped my contacts out of my eyes! Everyone KILLED IT!
“No you danced on a grave of a lady I killed” 😂😂😂
That bassoon music when they pan over to the dolls...just about killed me! 😂😂
4:19 If you don't understand the reference here, it's related to an old rumor that in the scene she's describing, supposedly one of the munchkin actor's hung themselves on set, and it was caught on film. There's no basis in fact for this, and the most likely theory is that a stage hand was just caught behind the set when filming began and just got caught in the scene when they shouldn't have been. Alternatively it was simply some props and backgrounds moving around when they shouldn't, but regardless, nobody died in the scene in question.
If you look close, the munchkin next to Will damn near bursts out laughing when he says, 'WHAT WERE WE WEARING!!'
When he yells What we’re we wearing?!?! Had me lol so hard!
Finally a funny sketch!!!
“It’s more dignified than it sounds”
Hahahaha
This felt like one of those cut-away skits from Family Guy, but brought to life with real actors. Freakin' hilarious!
always love the way Keenan says "De'What!!"
it's so heartwarming to see that will ferrel finally got to be an elf
Call him elf one more time!
Those funny looking scary Baby Dolls were Hilarious!!! 😂😂😂 I started laughing when I seen Him walking over on His KNEES with that Curled Up Mustache and Hair..
I was expecting this to be one of those shoddy end of night pieces but this was hilarious. Guess you can’t go wrong with Will Ferrell.
Kate could actually play Dorothy quite well.
2:37 "Manchkinland" LOL!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, so where's breakfast by the way? 😂
@3:23 Chloe has an uncanny ability to keep her head still. Dang. Robotic.
Did anyone noticed Chris’s had fall off out of no where 😂
Yes, it looked like someone was being a nuisance backstage, behind the backdrop screen.
I like the enthusiasm those five dudes have for knowing if they were or were not in Dorothy's dream 😅
Kenan is a gem....he is keeping SNL alive along with Cecily, Kate, and Aidy.
Idk.. he just seems like the same person nobody what he does lol. No character acting ability at all. But I loved him on good burger and all that
I think SNL just loves to give Kenan funny names for him to say, and I gotta say, I thoroughly approve.
One of the funniest sketches I've ever seen. So funny
Ah yeah? Which part?
“yeah I mean everyone was- HEY where’s breakfast by the way?”
I love how at one point she morphed into Elizabeth Warren for a minute

probably one of the best snl episodes in a long time. every skit was funny. now if only they could bring back good music guests.
4:18 kills me “ I think I might of saw one of you hang yourself” which by the way was clearly a bird but I love how they put that rumor in there 😂
I love the mysterious "hanging" reference. That part really gave me the nostalgia feels. ➰
I HAD TO LOOK IT UP TO SEE IF IT WAS TRUE.
I love Kate McKinnon. This was too funny. I was laughing so hard and nearly choked to death while laughing. No lie. 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂

One of the funniest, most creative SNL skits I’ve seen in a long time! Brilliant!
Will is still tall even when trying to be short
I like how the referenced the controversy behind the “hanging munchkin” in the movie.
👍doubt many got that... which incidentally is an Urban Myth like '3 Men and A Baby' ghost..
You mean the myth. Yes, that was a pretty funny reference.
In the credits they were called "the dancing midgets"
Will Ferrell is so good, right when he comes on screen you know exactly where the skit is going :D
Thompson is such a great comedian. He deserves a lead role in a movie.
Maybe in a film about OK burgers. Or even good ones. But what to call it? 🤔
Don't know how many times I've watched it now But I've laugh every time WILL and the others come in
There were bits and pieces where she really sounded like Judy Garland ... and then there were other parts where she sounded like Elizabeth Warren.
I mean, both are from the southern midwest? Warren's from Oklahoma and Dorothy was from Kansas.
Omg😂😂 when she mentioned the munchkin hanging himself I about died choking..😂😂😂😂
Kate nailed it again. She sounds just like Judy Garland!
