Poor Geoffrey Palmer . R.I.P you dour faced comedy genius .
RIP Geoffrey Palmer, he was a splendid character actor.
"You really think so? I thought support would be hard to find..." Genius. :)
I didn't get where I am today without binge-watching Jimmy's speech on UA-cam!
You’ll be able to recite it back I bet
He had a point about Keg Bitter though!
In comedy, timing is everything and those 2 completely nailed it
This whole scenario has not aged....RIP Geoffrey Palmer
History is repeating itself more and more. 😒🙄
Long-haired weirdos, short-haired weirdos.
This was the first thing I'd ever seen Leonard Rossiter in, when my local PBS outlet switched this for Good Neighbours in rotation and I found myself following every episode and laughing all the way, but this one scene has always been my favourite of The Fall And Rise Of Reginald Perrin. It was simply brilliant.
"It is neo rubbish and crypto rubbish" lol I've been laughing at that line for 40 years
Lol
Now they're both gone. And I must get the box set to watch during lockdown.
I didn't get where I am today by not watching box sets of classic 1970s sitcoms during a global pandemic.
RIP Jimmy never forget the cock ups on the catering front
I'm sad to hear that Geoffrey Palmer has pass on today at the age of 93. A good innings old boy, as one of the many characters he played in a long and distinguished career might well of have said.
Clive Jenkins, god that takes me back. I don't think I've heard him mentioned since about 1980.
Thank you for uploading this, it's exactly the clip I remember when I think of the sadly missed, irreplaceable Geoffrey Palmer.
You’re welcome, yes he was a good actor, thanks for commenting!
The origins of Liz Truss's thinking!
No, she's a Thatcherite, a neo-Thatcherite and a non-crypto Thatcherite.
Geoffrey Palmers passing reminded me of this scene, glad I found it, RIP and thank you for the laughs.
Glad you found it too, thanks for adding to the comments.
@@mitsymagicful Thank you.
"And the pump don't work cause the vandal's took the handles"
@LordZontar Thanks for your comment, pleased this humour is appreciated so much in the US, Leonard Rossiter died too soon.. I would have loved to have seen him on the stage, just as well we have Reginald Perrin repeats on TV and on DVD as it doesn't get much better than this :))
Thanks for the memories Geoffrey RIP
If I remember right, when they go into the bedroom, Reggie asks Jimmy if they're going to invade Poland. Then Jimmy reaches under the bed and produces a chamber pot, and Reggie says: "Ah, we are going to invade Poland!"
One of the greatest TV comedy scenes of all time. This could almost become a game: name additional groups or factions, etc., But you must name an equivalent group/faction on the other side. And you must repeat the list in the proper sequence to get credit. BDK
It could yes, good idea get it patented and don’t tell anyone, mums the word
"Rifles?"
The birth of Grot. Superb. Better comic timing than any of today's self certifying funnymen and they weren't even comedians.
RIP Geoffrey Palmer.
Fabulous.
When I heard of the passing of Geoffrey Palmer I remembered this. RIP
Hehe (puts on a list of things to do) :D xxx
Thanks for uploading! x
Agree. Leonard Rossiter was a comedy genius irreplaceable! perhaps BritishAlienCompany could do a blog on anarchy in our time, what do you think? :))
Adiós Jimmy 😔
Geoffrey Palmer was one of the best things in this show. It had a great premise but some of the actors were repetitive. Palmer's character was always original and quietly hilarious. Of course his time on screen was much shorter than most of the others.
Geoffrey Palmer was brilliant. This show and the Fawlty Towers episode where he's the doctor who just wants his kippers were the first two things I ever saw him in, and about at the same time too.
I love Reggie Perrin! Tens times better than Martin Clunes! We love you Leonard we do, we love you Leonard we do, we love you Leonard we do, oh Leonard we love you! :D x
Comedy gold
Yes, thanks for commenting!
I wonder if this vid would go down well in mid West USA?
It has in this midwest house, but I'm English 😉
..... and Nigel Farage.
There's nothing like stating the obvious!
Since when has 240p been "DVD quality"?
Hi, it was ripped from a DVD of resolution 720 x 576i, the rip was smaller for the UA-cam upload at the time, 8 years ago.
I think the DVD was a crypto neo new wave one, let me check!
Not the most political correct these days but give is a break funniest thing everrrrr
In 2022 Geoffrey Palmer would have included wokes, remainers and the Anti Growth Coalition.
"DVD quality"
78rpm quality is what I meant
NOBODY SHOW THIS TO DONALD TRUMP!
Especially not this week
LMAO!! I love this sketch. 😂. For so many reasons. Jimmy is so typical of 50 something men in the 1970s and 1980s. Most were, at least partialy :Racist, Sexist, Ageist , Eliteist , Anti Youth and anti anything contrary to the norm. As a kid I found them stuffy. Arrogant, boring and sometimes threatening. But Jimmys were OK. At least they weren't nasty with it. Bonkers. Yes. But not nasty. Eccentric, really. Now I'm turned 50..lol. But I'm no Jimmy. Thank god
The way things are going in 2020, I'm starting to think Jimmy wasn't so daft.
Yes...Trumpers have always been around
Right, I’m off to post this as a reply to every Brexit supporter I can find...
Yes! ;)
Now days Jimmy could add wokes, politically correct people, and those against free speech.
Why don't you use your free speech to say something of substance?
No one is stopping you, except your feeble brain.
Or just admit you're a bigot?
