For the past month, this one guy was locking me down every time we rolled and wouldn't let go and I never knew what to do. I watched this video and tried it out last night when I rolled with that guy and it worked on my first try. This is incredible. Thank you.
This just popped up on my feed. Definitely one of my fav lockdown guard passes, as long as they don't have an underhook preventing you from moving down to their hips. One thing to be aware of when attempting this pass is that your opponent can underhook and gable grip under one of your armpits, kinda like a 3/4 nelson, and sweep you over.
If Eddie doesn't have double unders or same side overhooks, he doesn't do lockdown. The overhooks is what he loves (since he is Jean Machado's line) and overhook will prevent you from sliding down to his hips
This is awesome going to definitely try it. My coach showed me a few other ways to get out of lockdown as well but this is super simple and straightforward. One way I was trying is to use your free leg to apply smash pressure into their neck and they will either tap or let your leg go to relieve pressure. This is my coach's favorite way but I couldn't figure out the angle he was using to get the smash. He is able to tap people easily with it though. It's wild. But this method here doesn't seem too tricky. Going to incorporate this ASAP.
Thanks for the great tip. I don't run into the lockdown that often so unfortunately I may not be able to test it soon, but the problem I'm sort of anticipating is that the guy with lockdown is always in a hurry to whip up and get beneath me. Obviously, I want to prevent that in general, but I guess I'm saying that I need to understand how to prevent the whip up in order to get a chance to shift my weight to his legs, otherwise I'm just trying to get a good head/neck control to keep him from getting deep.
You’re a fuckin asshole! You teach your training partners to fuck each other’s knees up? Dude that’s a dick move! Get real low now... alright now kick HARD!!! Blow out your fuckin partners knee! That’ll teach em to lockdown ANYBODY EVER!!! Damn you play DIRTY! GOOD DAY, SIR!
It'll work if you can get your head down. It's when they have a single or double under hook and you can't slide down his body to get the double leg that this move becomes more difficult
Señor Fundido A Negro step by step bro. This video is under the assumption that the watcher already knows to grip fight, shoulder pressure, weight transfer, etc
I learned this ( the lockdown) back in the early 2000's from a JJJ guy. He called it a Scorpion Lock so that is how I have always described it. Used it during many of my mma fights for years. Talking about the half guard lockdown. Anyway was working out with a guy today who I was talking about it and he called it the lockdown and couldn't remember the escape so I'm hitting yt looking for good skills to add to my toolbox.
This is also a 10th planet technique, it's called a butt lock compresser. But it's alot harder to get if they're using the lock down to its full potential by extending the legs pinching the knees but and also lifting the legs to ceiling. By lifting the legs to ceiling you force your opponents weight over your head making it very difficult to get back down to the hips.
Louis Cypher im 10th planet to brother! i cant remember the exact warmup, but we have a similar but slightly different way to brake lockdown and eventually get to mount.
Double underhooks prevents exactly this escape and why they are a prerequisite to any lockdown attempt. . If you want to lockdown your opponent like Anderson Silva did to Daniel Cormier, position your legs but don’t lockdown without getting double underhooks first. . Do the Jaws of Life to get the double under hooks, then extend your legs into the lockdown while keeping high underhooks. Stall and wait for referee to stand you back up.
Yeah good stuff buddy I seen that it one of the seminars I was at like eight years ago good job thanks for sharing. And it absolutely works I think if you lean back to you on the leg you can get a good meal bar and some really hurtful things to the other guy when he does it. A lot of guys if they'll just work on that movement they can see that there's lots of ways and things that we should do
lol before this video, whenever I got caught in this I'd just stay hugging him flopping like a fish unable to progress from half-guard. I've had several rolls when either I or my opponent got caught in this and we just stayed in the position until the end of the round not knowing what to do and not wanting to give up position
Brian B I actually learned this pass from Eddie himself at 10th Planet HQ. What you said is true though, other 10th Planet students despise this pass and I hit it in class all the time lol
Brian B im a 10th planet student and we learn a similar sequence to break the lockdown and eventually get to mount.one of the 10th planet techniques is right shoulder digging in to waist, gable grip around thighs (squeeze the thighs like a headlock) and uncoil and bring right leg to the left, then while still clamped down hop both legs over to the right, then put left knee in between the partners legs, then both knees, then left leg over to your left and pop up on that side onto your left foot get a over under gable grip up top putting right shoulder pressure on partners left chest, that pressure in that position the person will let you get mount (hard to explain the last part, but it works).
Combined with pressure against & control of their hips, all they have are their arms. Even if they did grab a headlock (somehow), the passer's body is already 90% escaped, because the way to neutralize a guillotine is to get perpendicular to the choke. Only remote danger might be in the gi, where some lapel trickery may apply.
No upper body control equals no lockdown. Nobody with a good knowledge of the lockdown system, let alone the lotus lockdown is going to just allow you to move your body down or to the side :)

Great detail! Many times I get frustrated trying to escape from this footlock. Moreover it works as guard pass.

This is the best lockdown escape I have seen so far. Can't wait to try this.

Love this!!!! Always have trouble breaking it. Thanks for the tip
Thanks for the video. Was stuck in lockdown on the top for the whole round at class
Solid details. I saw Pedro Sauer do a similar pass for lockdown, but this is slightly different. Good stuff!

Some of the best BJJ videos on youtube tbh. Concise and to the point.
7 years ago ? Good video !
2:23 Other dude yawning
Tried out and it worked perfect 👌🏻👍🏻💪🏻
Man awesome technique!! This lockdown has been a boog a boo, but this really helped! Great stuff
i learned this from a world champion years ago and still use / teach it today. deadly effective.
SpartanFit! I use the same pass on normal half guard by sprawling but never knew it worked against the lock down!
Thanks for sharing, just learned some defenses for this lockdown today but this looks very reliable, thank you.
I'm going to try this everyone is getting hip to my rolling over where the locked leg is. Thanks for the tip!
Beautiful, thanks for sharing
Thanks for this! I always find myself trying to push their legs apart with my feet lol.

Yup ...jaws of life first. Then double underhooks. Then you can apply the lockdown. Otherwise you’re just giving him the Butt Compressor Escape.
very good BJJ instructional with details on controlling the position while opponent shrimps. Thank you!!!!!

That's really cool...
I would like to see that done to Eddie bravo
Nice! Will try it out. If it works with my training partner (which I'm a bit sceptical) it will work with anyone.
That was really great. Thank you!
There's another one that my coach taught me which was to go down to his legs then stand up and push both of his knees down and submit him.
I will try this
Nice technique, thanks.
as a 10p guy myself, I would use this.. but then I started to encourage people to try it on me as it sets up the 100% very nicely.
Simon Cocks what you mean by 100 percent brother? I love counters to counters
Do you keep the lockdown when you sink in the 100%? If so do you attack the same side shoulder or opposite side shoulder from the lockdown?
Louis Cypher im 10th planet to brother! i cant remember the exact warmup, but we have a similar but slightly different way to brake lockdown and eventually get to mount.
You must be that one high belt that rolls with only white belts and blue belts if you're pulling a 100% off this.
Fantastic
TIP from a white belt lol... when u clasp your hands under his buttt.. extend your arms it will relieve some pressure and sometimes can kick out...
Thanks brother.
Thanks very good video
Thanks for the video!! This is great!!
Ty
Nice details man
Thank you
Does this work when you're in standard half guard too?
Gr8 vid Matt apart from background noise
That’s good man thanks!!!

damn you're great. im going to rewatch that fight soon, thanks
I love it! But I am definitely NOT going to share it.
thank you
Good shit Bro

leaning downwards gives him an opportunity to roll and go for a vaporizer, that’s how Eddie did it on Royler
Luv it!

Garry Tonon?
merci
this is elite.
I don’t think so
I use lockdown often and will never show this to anyone! 😂
Will use it though, is someone locks me down
Ouch
Wjy didn't Gracie do that against bravo 🤷♂️😂
Yep, that’s how I was taught a long time ago donkey kick
The one guy that disliked this video does 10th planet

With no hands, how do you avoid getting choked?
Good question. Looks like if you keep your head glued to his hip, he'll have no room to insert his hands/arms under your neck. Just my opinion.... :)

@@counterhit121 excellent explanation man. really good
Pablo popavich guard smash is what your doing . 10th planet guys call it butt blast i believe
Butt double penetration smash I think it's called
3:33
I got choked today while doing that. Lol
@Gian Anton Amor, yeah if u don’t do it right u r open for a gillotine. U have to b able to hit this faster than ur opponent can react some times
im a 10th planet guy and we call this the buttocks compressor ahahhah
2:24 the dude on the bottom seems pretty bored.
Man on bottom look like umpa lumpa.
Who uses lockdown without upper body control? It makes no sense. I'm not trying to be a dick, but grips are part of the lock down.
No upper body control equals no lockdown. Nobody with a good knowledge of the lockdown system, let alone the lotus lockdown is going to just allow you to move your body down or to the side :)
Grapplinginstructionals interesting . I am going to look up lotus lockdown. I use regular lockdown a lot, so cool to know there is a variation
