Fun fact: a "buttload" is a real unit of measurement. It's 126 gallons of wine.. so cheers and drink up! 🍷
Side note: "boatload" (not to be confused with "buttload") is also a real term, but does not have a specific unit of measurement attached to it. It just means a large quantity.

I am 60🤯. Can’t believe it, my brain is stuck in my 40s. Up until late 50s I just threw eyeshadow, liner, mascara with lip stick and blush. ( focus on my eyes) 😢I still do that but my focus has become my foundation, contouring my nose ( nose is wider), eyebrows and lipstick with liner. I’m naturally platinum blond and for some reason my right eyebrow decided to give 15 blond hairs, that can’t be seen by the naked eye and they both have gotten thin. Lips have gotten thin and of coarse my skin has changed. Primer is key now. I never used primer I barley used foundation. The primers I like are elf pore putty primer, beauty blender pore primer and thrive sun screen. The changes in my face is what brought me to the beauty community on UA-cam and I love it!!!💗‼️

I’m 60 and I’m using a more natural look. I ensure that I thoroughly moisturize and then only use foundation where I need it and blend, blend, blend. Then only use a small amount of neutral eyeshadow to define and mascara. I’ll tightline if I feel like it. I don’t leave the house without doing my eyebrows and I love lip liner to fill in my lips with small amount of balm. Thank you Mandy for your honesty and great picks.

Yes, our lips actually do get smaller as we get older--as well as paler! And they also become more downturned. And as a makeup artist who is over fifty and who focuses on working with women over fifty, I would absolutely agree with you that there definitely are makeup techniques that we need to tweak as we get older! And we also often need to go from powder products to cream products as our skin gets drier. Thanks for your always wonderful reviews and lovely style. It's always a pleasure tuning in to your channel.

Loved this video. Ladies need tips.
I also have been paying more attention to my brows… but in my case I’ve been trying to grow more of them, with products like revita brow and rapid brow. I was an 80s child so I tweezed too much. An added bonus is that the products have darkened my faded brows too. I also have been getting back into primers… tatcha silk liquid canvas is nice but it is pricey so something cheaper would be good. I agree lip liners are important! I’ve been using them for years as my lips are not big pouty ones so overdrawing is a great tool for me. I have brought my line in a little though as I recently developed the sagging line at the corners of my mouth due to my age (48) so to avoid ‘sad lips’ I stop just short of the corners and I prefer a satin lipstick to the glossy ones if doing a red lip (so it doesn’t sink into lines).

But I am certainly starting to notice the fine lines in my lips, and if I wear lip colors - they now bleed or smear. I generally avoid putting products on my lips because I'm self-conscious of looking like a clown! I'd appreciate hearing your tips and tricks!

My personal favorite primers are the Tatcha Silk Canvas balm and Tarte Timeless Smoothing Primer. I love lipliner but don’t need to use it every day because I have lip filler. I usually only need it for longevity of my lipstick and not for overlining purposes. At 48 I haven’t needed to change a lot about my makeup preferences because my skincare regimen was significantly upgraded in my early forties to include prescription tretinoin, vitamin C and AHA’s. Good skincare is essential for good makeup days from my experience!!!

I use to never be into primer either till the Caliray one. It literally is like Magic. I have huge pores and dry skin. Most por minimizing primers make you more dry and show texture. The Caliray one does not. I have 3 as back up cause I never want to be without it. It blurs yet hydrates. Best primer I've ever tried.

Hi Mandy ~ Love this video. I loved
Everything you talked about. A suggestion
I have for the pore primer is the
    e. l. f. Poreless primer. I suffer with very
Dru skin and lips too. I live in Massachusetts so you know our Winters
Are brutal on the skin. I have used Josie
Maran Argan Oil for the last 7 years
And it really does make a difference.
I have Alopecia of (just the eyebrows)
Thank goodness. So, I've used eyebrow
Pencils for the last 38 years. One thing
I have added for approx the last 2 years
Is using one of those tiny woman's razors
For the face. Getting rid of all the peach
Fuzz really changes the way my makeup
Goes on. Everything goes on so much
Smoother !! Also, you are so right about
The lip liner, the difference is night & day!!
Thanks so much, take care ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I’m too pale not to. I have combo skin so I don’t have a great primer recommendation. Your eyes look stunning today. More than usual. I have longer lashes like you so I’ve never tried false lashes for that reason. But I may dip into the half lash. They’re gorgeous.

I could never use any primer that isn’t VERY moisturizing, double priming, using pore-filling/smoothing and another hydrating primer didn’t seem to work. I don’t know if you have used Caliray’s so blown blurring primer with collagen peptides, but it is the dust primer that blurs the pores, and is hydrating enough for me. I know you probably get a ton of suggestions in these comments so take this as just thst...A suggestion. IM not a dermatologist.
I'm 65 and I have minimal texture on my skin. I've used alpha hydroxy acid and beta hydroxy since the 80s. Paula's Choice exfoliate is a nice daytime step under makeup. This also helps with breakouts. I also use a glycolic acid (that's an alpha hydroxy acid)facial wash with a physical exfoliator in the formula that polishes the skin for ultra smoothness. Anyway I'll leave this here for you.

Have you tried putting the eyelash glue directly on your eye lid like eyeliner and putting it on the band itself? I always do that and then I wait 15 to 20 seconds for the eyelash glue to dry first. I HAVE to use false eyelashes because mine are SO fine and blonde that NO mascara un the market is going to do a dang thing for mine!!! Just a suggestion

I've noticed my lips are definitely changing. I've been tossing around the idea of starting to use a lip liner for that exact same reason. For some reason my skin does not enjoy most primers. Sure, my makeup looks a bit better but when i use a primer on a regular basis i notice my skin looks worse when i'm doing a no makeup day. I've tried several different primers and all of them seem to sort of irritate my skin. BUT i do find that the Hourglass primer doesn't. That's my typical luck because it's expensive but it seems to be a primer that doesn't bother my skin. Girl, i don't even go out to the mailbox without doing my brows 🤣 as i age, i can really see my brows are taking a hit. The days of not doing my brows are over.

Trick - take a full pair and cut them in half and then only use the inner half section and apply that to your outer half of your lashes. the inner section is always less dramatic so it helps them to look more natural... good way to use up lashes that you dont like or use.

I have tried so many primers that claim to disguise or fill pores and I really enjoy NYX Pore filler. It is a great substitute for Benefit’s “The Porefessional,” at half the price. I also like Elf’s poreless putty primer. Since my skin has changed so much with age, I also need hydration. Therefore, I have started only using the pore filling primer in my t-zone(which is really the only place I need it)and stick with moisturizer everywhere else and my foundation looks so much more natural.

Hey, Mandy. Have you tried LED devices? They are really effective for removing texture and softening wrinkles. I use one and have noticed some changes. My skin glows more and the texture has been diminished considerably. Thank you for the video.

How much of the e.l.f. do you use, and how long do you let it sit (if at all) before you put foundation on top? I bought the poreless putty primer on pretty much everyone's recommendations however whatever foundation I put on top seems to separate, especially on my forehead and between my eyebrows (which is where my pores are largest of course lol).

@@erinderooy3472 I put the putty primer on and let it sit for a minute. I only use it on my t zone and then I put my foundation on. I have definitely had the separating happen if I was heavy handed with the putty or didn’t let it dry. Some people prefer the gripping primer for that reason too!

I have had to use lip *primer* for years now because of hereditary lip wrinkles, in addition to lining. I found that Colourpop's Lippies have a primer that is epic. Used to use a NYX crayon one, but Colourpop's is much better. Lining without lip primer doesn't really do as well for me at 66 years old. Just an FYI if there are more ladies my age dealing with feathering lip color. Our lips do become thinner looking as well, as you mentioned. I've also had to use brow products in recent months for the first time ever-though I have very thin hair, as you can imagine from my channel name, reviewing wigs, my brows have recently begun to thin. I still have decent enough lashes that mascara does a good enough job-I can't imagine putting glue next to my eyes so it will be horrible if all my lashes eventually fall out and I'm tempted to use false lashes for the first time ever. They have become much less lush in the last few years, for sure. We sure do have to make changes with the times of our lives! ~Cynthia

Thanks Mandy! A recent change for me: trying to apply way less foundation when I wear it. It’s an old habit from when I was younger to try to cover up every single imperfection, but as I get older I’m trying to embrace the natural look of my skin,..and also too much foundation on skin with fine lines and texture doesn’t look any better. Trying to be okay with less :)

Mandy, stop using cerave and go back to your cetaphil. I have noticed a huge improvement in my dry skin when I started using Cetaphil again after cerave dried my skin out horribly. I guess I got sucked in but Cetaphil has moisturizing properties and Cerave is full of ceramides that are made from fish. Yes it is that's why the cream in the tub smells like fish if you rub your hands in it. About the pores issue, really buff and stipple your foundation in with a brush without primer. Primers make your foundation slip around. I never use them when on set. If something worked for you in the past, go back after trying all this and you'll see why you loved things in the past, it's for a reason. Trying all this stuff makes an impact on our skin and stresses it.

Good skincare is the key to success. Makeup wear better smoother and lasts longer and I don’t need a primer.

I hate to say it, I’ve tried so many costly primers including Tatcha and YSL, but elf‘s affordable putty primer has turned out to be the best for me 40+ skin, closely followed by Charlotte Tilbury‘s primer cream with SPF. I keep reverting back to those.

Hi Mandy! I’ve followed you for years & I have enjoyed your channel so much! I have a couple of years on you, but just recently found myself really worrying with my brows, too & noticing how skin prep makes so difference. I still cannot get lashes on though! Maybe you could do a video on half lash application & I might be brave enough to give it a try 😊 Your skin looks absolutely stunning in this video, but you always look amazing ❤ Happy holidays to you!

Elf poreless putty primer is nice, and benefit " the pore professional" are two products I like. I want to try the half lashes I like you cannot wear them,or put them on but I will try again My face is much drier so using good hydration products and I like the Elf primer haven't tried the griping primer though. Happy for you that you mastered the false lashes. You look beautiful as always I still don't get contour but I try it again. Just like my blush.❣️💯👍❗❣️

I’ve definitely have made some significant changes that have worked out for me really well. I am 62 1/2 years young. I have invested in really good skin care, which has allowed me to wear less foundation over all. I start in the center part of my face. By taking my time in applying moisture and making sure my skin is thoroughly hydrated, which is different than being moisturized.

I’m with you on the brows. I don’t fuss with them much, but I do like to run a bit of pencil through them and blend with a spoolie. A bit of definition makes a lot of difference when I’m wearing a full face of makeup.

The taste clean slate primer is really good. I have the tatcha and that is too fussy and doesn't work with a lot of products. Taste is definitely the best I've tried and I've tried them all. I literally have an entire box of lashes that I can never seem to get to stick in my inner corner.......I may have to pull that box out
