Also worth noting the well-hidden rule that thugs and thieves do NOT get -1 fight when carrying treasure, unilke almost all warband figures.
You made me go back and check my notes because I remember talking about this rule. Turns out I mention it in my next video on playing the game. 😊 It’s definitely an easy rule to miss - especially for people accustomed to 1st Edition.

I also advise against buying warhounds at the start, because for 50gc (i.e. quite possible after one game) you can buy the carrier pigeon base upgrade which makes them free (and it's clearly a cost efficient early upgrade to buy in any decent length campaign).
Great point about the Carrier Pigeons - I keep forgetting how much more useful that Base Resource is now in the 2nd Edition - it can really pay off over the course of a long Campaign.

I advise people to not overbuy the 75gc tier specialists when they start, since eventually you will want 4 higher grade ones.
One expansion character worthy of comment is the 'demon hunter' who does magic damge innately, very useful if you don't have spells to do this (and you won't have any magic weapons to start with).
Nathan, good point to hold off on purchasing the cheaper Specialists. It could end up meaning wasted GC when you have to boot them out for a better Specialist.
Yep Scott's right that it's the Mystic Warrior that does the magic damage. I do really like the Demon Hunter soldiers though. With Marksmen having their Shoot stat reduced, a Demon Hunter moves faster, deals extra damage in melee, has higher Will, and gets bonuses against demons and is cheaper for most Wizard types - all for the loss of just 1 point of Armour. Poor Marksmen...
I'm going to plug a fillable sheet that I helped with, it automatically fills out info as you make selections. Feel free to delete if your uncomfortable with it. It's just a Google sheet that was popping around since 1st ed, updated and cleaned up. I'm just proud of the work my buddy did.

Wow. That is a really involved spreadsheet! I can tell a ton of work went into that and could be quite the resource. No problem posting it here - thanks for letting me know it's out there on Reddit. I'm going to try to contact the authors to see if they mind me discussing the spreadsheet in a future video.
Well , I can say that at least two of us, the authors of this current version, would love for you to use it and provide feedback. Discussing it on your channel is your prerogative. We spent a lot of time working on it and we're super excited to put it out into the world and got a dishearteningly quiet response. You can find the first two authors on the introduction page.
@@torymiddlebrooks That's too bad you haven't had much response about the spreadsheet - it looks like an amazing resource! I sent a message on Reddit to u/dreadgazebo, but u/d4bbl3z pulled up a page on Backyard Baseball, so I didn't send anything there - but I guess if you know the creators and that they'd be fine with it, then I won't bother seeking out the others. Who all should I credit with the work? I've got a video planned to be recorded in the next 2 weeks with some strategies and resources from some other viewers. I might mention and link your Spreadsheet in that video, and then maybe try to do a video just about the spreadsheet some time in the future to help more people find it.
Version one was for Frostgrave first edition, version 2 was a 2nd edition patch. Both of those are still available on Reddit. All my team did was automated version 2 a little more, added the campaign tracker and did formatting spruce up. My co-author and I would probably be most comfortable if you just credit it to the community. Maybe encourage people to make suggestion for improvement? I will definitely be watching your video on it but neither of us have a Reddit account so we can't comment directly on the post. I had a friend of mine posted for us just to give it back to the community.
