Didn't think this was something you could do at home!
Nice job
does it matter what type of foil you use ? is it like specific for this use or just any foil?
could I cut the design with an exacto knife?
The foil and transfer material is really thin, so you should be able to cut it with an exacto knife.
Can I also use heat n bond by thermoweb?
Is this washable?
Yes - they recommend not putting it in the dryer. But I have washed my daughter's shirt multiple times.
Thank you!
Hi, I keep having the same problems foiling onto Calico fabrics for the past 2 years...everytime I try my tests, they keep coming out crinkled and I keep on trying different heat times, medium heat and hot heat, 30secs to 1 min, all the same outcome. Please can to give me advice what im doing wrong. Many Thanks
I don’t have much more information other than the video. I would contact Thermoweb directly with your questions.
I might try it today so I probably will have the answer before you get a chance to get back to me. My question is, If I print on fabric through my laser printer, will the foil behave the same as the laser prints on paper? I want to use that technique and heat it with an iron instead of a lamination machine.
Interesting concept. I have never tried this. I would test it out on a scrap piece of fabric first. Let me know how it goes.
Did you ever do it?
Can you put the fabric through a laminator - if it fits, of course? Would you still use parchment paper?
Oh, one more question: can you use any brand or type of transfer foil?
I would use parchment so the fabric will go through smoothly. The other thing would be the width of the fabric to make sure it fits through. It should work with other transfer foils, but I would test them out first.
Can this work on a net fabric. I want to wear an Indian long veil but with gold foil designs but idk if I can do it at home like this. These certainly exist on the market but I wanted to try my own. Do you think it'd work?
My 1st concern is the heat factor. Will the net take a high temperature iron. Next, you would have to be sure to put parchment - or something - under the net for the extra adhesive to go - you don't want your ironing board to get sticky. If the net is tight enough and will take the heat it should work.
Thank you! I am wanting to achieve a gold leaf look on fabric. Will the deco foil do this?
Possibly - depends on the final look you want. I would test it on a scrap piece of fabric first.
Can i do it without that diy cutting maching??
Just by cutting the image n pressing hard with weight
You can cut the foil using anything. You would need an iron and the adhesive to attach it to the fabric. It is the heat that fuses it together.
can you do big projects with this like a tapestry?
The adhesive sheets and foil ar 6"x12". You can cut smaller items and attach them to a big project. You just iron it on where you want the foiling.
Pls tell , where I buy. I am from India
I thought it was going to be added to current horse.
Cool.Really Appreciate the video.
Thank you so much!!
FIRST OF ALL I JUST WANT TO SAY THAN YOU..
CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHERE CAN I GET THE HEAT ADHESIVE FROM I GOOGLED IT AND I'M NOT GETTING THE SHEETS YOU ARE USING. EASY WEED I THINK IS SELLING 1 SHEET. PLZ HELP
You can buy it directly from Thermoweb: www.thermowebonline.com/p/deco-foil-hot-melt-adhesive?pp=24
would it work with leatherseats?
Possibly. Try it on a piece of leather first.
Hi
I tried it using same methd , foil and hot melt adhesive as you did but it is not working for me. I used on carter's cotton t-shirt
Can you rule out some mistake
Make sure you wash the t-shirt first to remove the starches. It will work on cotton. At what point didn't it work? Were you able to get the adhesive down? Did you put the wrong side down the first time? Not enough heat? What foil did you use?
@@ScrapTimeVideos
Hi, thank you for replying. I tried few more times and realised that in geographical hotter regions we need just 10 seconds or so for ironing the adhesive and 10-20 seconds for gold foil. I used deco foil by the way. Then I cooled the t-shirt in refrigerator for 30 seconds or even more and voila ! It worked wonderfully.
Thank you again.
Will this work on Lycra? Or swimwear fabric?
It works on a t-shirt - so I would test it on a piece of lycra before doing it on the actual piece. I did wash and dry it without any problems. And it is a little stretchy.
Amazing
Does it work with velvet?
Possibly. Test it out on a scrap piece. Or contact Thermoweb for a more in-depth answer.
Can this also be done with the Go Press and Foil machine?
I've never used the Go Press and Foil machine so I do not know. Sorry.
Would this work on an anorak jacket or a windbreaker jacket material? And does it wrinkle and tear if you pull on the fabric?
Leon Wellz It stays and can be washed.
I made this on a knit fabric and it seems to be holding up quite well. I have washed it several times. When picking material remember you need a hot iron. Make sure the nylon can withstand the heat. You don't want the material to melt.
ScrapTimeVideos THANK YOU!
So cool! tyfs
would this method work with heat transfer paper?
I am not familiar with heat transfer paper. You need something that will stick to the shirt and will have another adhesive for the foil to stick to.
Thank you
What we can use instead of your machine u cut the hourse
You can cut shapes with punches or dies. Or hand cut your own shapes. You can make stripes using your paper trimmer.
Where can I buy?
You can buy directly from the Thermoweb site. Also google the product. I bet someone on Amazon carries it.
Product name pls? Which type of paper
Ugh why can't u just show them how to use application fluid and save time, money and frustration?
